S1 - Ep 121 - Arriving in Caledon and Exploring the Botanical Gardens!

On arriving in Caledon, we decided the first thing we needed was lunch. A local told us to to give Gabbiano a try, which we did. After that we had to go see the amazing Holy Trinity Church. This church was designed by the first female architect in South Africa, Sophia Gray, and it was really beautiful to see. Then we went to explore the beautiful Botanical Gardens. There are stunning hiking trails in and around these gardens with gorgeous places to sit and enjoy a picnic with family and friends overlooking the tranquil ponds and birdlife. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #caledon #botanicalgardens

That thing you were looking at was a "dorsmasjien" I think in English you call it a thresher. It was in the time before the combine harvester. The stationary steam engine was to provide the power for the threshing machine as you indicated.

One of the best Botanical Gardens to visit is the Durban Botanical Gardens. Whenever you decide to go there arrange a tour, the tour is even more amazing than if you were to just walk around there. The tour you'll be taken around the gardens in a golf cart...

Oh wow! We'll certainly keep that in mind for Kwazulu-Natal. A golf cart sounds like a cool way to explore a botanical garden. 😎🌳🌴
