Hi! Great job, I know sometimes we canât get bigger tanks, but when you clean just remember to leave a little bit of the old bedding behind so that it smells like them! It makes it less stressful and they know itâs there home. Ily
I think she addresses that at 2:30
Imagine if a person trap u at such a small place when there is a whole world to see
itâs also supper dupper important that their cages do get cleaned periodically the bacteria can be rlly bad for them and could get them sick so youâre doing amazing! sheâs absolutely adorable
You should only clean out about a third of the bedding once every 4 -6 weeks
Full cleaning can be very stressful for the hamster do you should only do spot cleaning, only do it if itâs necessary
@@catchmezilo Yes, This needs to be noticed more
Full cleaning is very stressful for hamsters, studies have now shown. It should be spot cleaned every day, removing any soiled bedding, then only completely cleaned if the hamster is sick or dies and youâre getting a new hamster.
If it's too nasty to put some old bedding in the new clean cage then I suggest cleaning a little more often. Because yes it does stress them out and it actually takes about 1 hour for their heart to calm down!
how often should i clean the cage?
@@lyndseyknell7206 once a week
@@aubri596 If you have a properly sized cage it should be once a month
@@lyndseyknell7206 Whenever it gets nasty! Just spot clean and removed soiled bedding until you just have to replace it. It depends on how big the cage is, if it is a proper size then it would be about once a month, but most people don't have big spaces so probably once every 2 weeks, but yeah, just spot clean regulary
Sheâs so cute! I have a robo hamster (black, grey, white) and her name is Luna(: and I thought I had a good cage, but thanks to you I am now getting a like 20-40 gallon tank and reptile sand and so much better things!
If you still have your hamster, plsss check out Victoria Raechelâs CZcams channel⊠this girls care is actually very improper compared to the new standards now-adays.â€ïž
Get a 40 gallon tank
Get a 40 gallon or bigger
Your doing great! Here are some things I suggest, atleast 6inchs if bedding and maybe like a hide, like a two or three chamber hide. Youâll definitely see more burrowing activity
450 square inches is the bare minimum for a hamster.. you seem to be doing pretty good the wheel is great but 6 inches is the amount of bedding you need for a hamster to properly burrow but otherwise everything seems ok and I understand you might not have the space but you could try reworking your room and either building your own cage or getting something 40 gallon and over
Hey is it okay if its a 30 gall tank? I cant buy a larger one
The size is 38x18x15 inches is that good??
@@Paula-nv8pr well im not a hamster specialist but i've seen plenty of hamster videos and they usually say 40 gallon is the best to go with.
@@Paula-nv8pr if it is laid out lxwxh then that gives them 684 square inches of space which is more than ideal
@@Paula-nv8pr 40 gal is bare minimum for a hamster
You arenât doing bad but it does look like you have the room for a 40 gallon breeder tank. Itâs not that big and it meets the minimum requirement of floor space that the hamster should have.
That is for a normal hamster. For a dwarf hamster a 20 gallon is perfectly fine.
@idkwhattoname no the person youâre replying to is right
@@idkwhattoname6699 all species of hamsters have the same minimum square inch requirement of 450 square inches! (most people even say it should be 600+ square inches) really, 600 or more is usually the bare minimum most people go with
@@idkwhattoname6699There is no ânormal hamstersâ and no matter their size they should still have a appropriate cage. Itâs like saying oh sheâs 4â10 so she can only have a 1 bedroom apartment. Or oh sheâs 6â5 she canât have no less than a mansion. Like humans no matter the size they all need very similar needs.
@@idkwhattoname6699 nope every hamster needs a 40 gallon and personally I still think thatâs to small
I love watching your hamster videos! She is so cute! đ„° I think you are doing a great job taking care of her.
Great hamster care :) There are only two things (you have clarified one so I will not bug about that!) is the bedding. I recommend maybe making one side a bit deeper? My hamster really enjoys that, and if you don't have like, a lid or whatever you call it, than it is fine! No worries, but try making a DIY one it's really fun.
Sheâs so playful and fun đ
Try adding a diffrent hide, ur hamster prob seems to like that one but its really not that good, sun can come tru it and then it will be hard for the hamster to sleep! Just a tip
Bin cages are super easy to create and budget friendly! Iâm sure a bunch cage would fit on that dresser. The Sterilite 50 Gal stacker bin is a great size. Also the bigger the cage the more bedding you put in which then makes it smell waaayy less! The more you knowđ„° And yes leavening a handful or two spread out in the new bedding will make it less stressful for her. It does stress them out because the new bedding doesnât smell like them. Youâre doing a great job!

Ik like if she doesn't like it in there she would show signs of stress
Fyi. She bites cause its hard taming a robo so just work on it. They technically more of a observation animal so if you want her to tolerate you without biting, you gotta tame her more. Does her cage meet the minimum standard for dwarves?
LOL DWARVES ITS DWARFS
the tank is a 20 gallon so it's a bit small, but it's much better then the 10 gallon she had before and the hamster is happy :)) so it's all okay

She has so much more room on her dresser for a bigger cage but just remember weâre going for more room on the bottom not height
Sheâs so cute . I would recommend at least 6 inches of bedding and a hide better that doesnât let much light in also put a blanket over the cage roof sides and back as it will make the cage darker and more enjoyable x
You are taking this criticism so well! Youâre right, you are giving horchata a better home than most people would, and itâs impossible for you to have perfect hamster care. Sheâs so cuteeeeeeđ

i love that your giving your hamster the best life that you can!! iâd recommend adding more bedding as hamsters love to burrow! 6 inches or more is great for them to do so, and if your worried about your hamster escaping because thereâs no lid you can get wire mesh which is very cheap and just bend the sides to fit on the tank! x
I just got a Roborovski hamster about an hour ago And this cage gave me and idea on how I want to decorate mine thank you!
Hi! adding a forage mix in with the bedding is a really easy way of adding more enrichment for her so she has different smells and different things to forage around for
Also defiantly add more bedding since you tank has the height for it, they need a minimum of 6 inches of depth :)
awww so cuteeđâ€
I know you can't get a bigger cage, but something you can do is get a cage topper. It just goes on top of your cage and it gives your hamster more room to run around. You should look into it.
Omg I love the cage! Its so well decorated your an amazing owner! Iâm going to petsmart tomorrow and Iâm gonna get my Syrian hamster more toys food and more so Iâm watching hamster videos so I can have an idea on how Iâm gonna set up her cage because it been the same so I am planning to change it up.
the cage is so big!!! thatâs a great cage especially for the type of hamster you have â€
Actually, Roboroskis have the most energy so they need a 75 gallon at the least đ. Never judge an animal by there size, hamster need lots of space to forage!
You have been so good at listening to peoples advice and dealing with mean comments! Its great that you got her a better, bigger wheel, she was going to grow out of the petsmart one anyway. Only pointers I have for you really are: more bedding and change then Sunburst food to a better one, i know you already switched from oxbow but that one is very poor quality.... watch Munchie's place video on hamster&germil food. she compares different brands and their ingredients
Higgins Sunburst and Mazuri would be a great combo especially with mealworms. Sunburst isn't a bad brand and shouldn't be classified as one
I love her confidence
Horchata is so cute! I recommend at bare minimum 4 inches of bedding but I suggest 6 inches so she can burrow, she will love it so so so much. You are doing great with her!
Bare minimum for me is 6 inches and the more the merrier I donât care if you have 6 feet of bedding, as long as your hamster is happy. No hate on what you think btw!
Imagine knowing requirements and choosing to neglect them because "he's yours, he looks happy in there, I don't have room" just be a good owner, it's not that hard. You're an influencer and you're sporting this care like it's okay to be like this. I wanna see a video where you get him a 40 gallon breeder, the kaytee super enclosure, or a proper bin cage. You can fit it on that dresser. My dresser is smaller than yours and my 540 sq inch enclosure fits fine.
Thank you for mentioning this! Literally everyone in the comments thinks it's fine but shes being a bit selfish. I would understand if she didn't know because there is so much misinformation on hamster care but this is just pure laziness.
My 750 sq inch fits perfectly fine on my mini desk and its smaller than that dresser
Omg thank you, I get a little bit annoyed with all the ppl saying its okey, there is a minimum for a reasom, its not a suggestion đ .
I know and then they get mad when people give constructive criticism to try and help your animal
@@demi8165 yeah lol update I have a 1000 square inch pawhut on literally two TV dinner trays and a niteangel vista on my dresser that hangs over and it's been FINE LMAO my room is tiny and it's half hamster cages so there's really no excuse
Literally everything about this hamster is FREAKING ADORABLE!!! Her little hands and eyebrows are soooo cute. Also much respect to you for not forcing her to âhave a bondâ with you. You let her be the hammy she wants to he. đ€đ€
Yes our robo hamster we got as a super tiny baby and she never bites and does let u hold her and even falls asleep in your hand abd u can feel her heart beat relax then but she us considered a "ghost hamster" bcuz she will only come out to eat in the day occasionally but as soon as lights go off and it's bedtime and we are not moving she then comes out and has a blast! She runs on her wheel on Sunday off for up to 6 hrs and she plays, dogs burrows, chews her corn cop and toys, forages, takes a San bath, plays in her coconut dirt, eats etc. We don't force to do anything. Our other hamster is total opposite. Infact he's kinda like a puppy!
Its a suitable cage guys leave her alone!!! Sheâs trying her best to provide the hamster with everything it needs!! It looks like a perfect tank to me!
this is a tip hamsters are really clean animals so its better to clean it once in 2 weeks
I love ur cage!! and horchatas bowl is soooo cute!! what I like to do is clear out some bedding under the wheel so my hamster doesn't have to bend his neck a lot. i also have a syrian tho so idk
Iâm so happy for u
I love how ur treating her ur doing great I had to hamsters one named peanut and one named lulu and now I have tootsie roll and Iâm getting another

I love your setup so muchâ€
i like the way you have set up the tank , the bedding is so pretty and colourful .i'm sure your hammy loves that great wheel and the sand bath too .
Aww thank you yes as you could see she loved it and was going crazy!
If you canât provide the space for your pet, they will be miserable. ÂŽitâs my hamster I can do what I wantâ comes from a place of entitlement and not responsibility towards the pet YOU CHOSE to adopt. The floorspace is the number one most important thing to provide,
I like how you don't take it from haters. Some people can give advice but most of them just flat on wish you the worst! If someone cursing or being angry then that's not going to do anything. You are giving your hamster a good life and I like your enclosure. It will be bad if you listen to people and just leave ur hamster outside where it will surely die but u have a safe place for it
Your hamster is a robo, which on the list of hamsters is one of the newest to be introduced to pet stores bc their breed hasn't been fully domesticated. Thats why they are more hyperactive and typically will bite more bc they haven't been fully tamed down yet like Syrians have. They can still be friendly, but they have more wild instincts :)
Love it you take soooo good care of her and she is soooooo cute
You are doing a great job with her! đ
No sheâs not. If you are uneducated stop spreading lies to âmake her feel betterâ she knows exactly what she needs to do but sheâs choosing to ignore it.
@@person39 I am not uneducated. I do a lot of research and have kept rodents for years. I've rescued many rodents that were being kept with no enrichment and in tiny cages and have given them a better quality of life. So, I know my stuff when it comes to animal care. This girl is doing a good job. Is it perfect? No. But overall she is doing a good job. She isn't using one of those small pet store cages, of which many of the rodents I've rescued have been in when I've gotten them. Those cages were put right in the trash after I put them in their new enclosures. And she has a good size wheel for her hamster. She obviously cares about her hamser. Your name calling and non constructive comment were uncalled for. Maybe try being kind.
@@lynn5530 Itâs amazing that you rescue animals but just because her care is better than a tiny cage with no enrichment doesnât mean itâs proper care. She definitely loves her hamster but unfortunately love doesnât replace proper care. I agree that I shouldâve worded my comment a bit better but her refusing to upgrade her cage is bothersome.
It's my choice and my hamster so I can do what I want... No it's another living thing you took responsibility for. You knew when you got her that that was not the appropriate size. If she's attacking you when you go to interact then that is cage aggression it's more common in dwarfs and can be caused by feeling like they have insufficient space if she's doing it when she's accidentally spooked that's different. But either way it's not just a preference of how much space to give your hamster it's a choice of negligence as there are countless studies relating enclosure size to stress levels. 450 square inches is the minimum. Justifying improper care by saying it's better than PetSmart's/petcos is the same as them saying their care is acceptable because it's at least better than the rodent mills they purchased them from which stay in business from your business at those petstores instead of you adopting or getting from an ethical breeder. I get that I'm coming off rude but this is another life were talking about and while you're doing great in other areas you are planning on continuing this tradition of since it's small it's habitat can be small because that's what fits *my* needs despite not fitting the animal *living in it* needs. You can get thousands of different types of cages that will be big enough and it doesn't have to go on a desk or table it can go on your floor so long as it stays clean around it. finally you don't have to leave the filth down there taking a handful of just the bedding and transferring it over to the new will keep your hamster from stressing over the cleaning.
I agree, itâs another living animal and the hamster/ any animal you buy should have the best life. People say âiTs mY pEtâ which is true but your literally âabusingâ it with not giving it the right size cage/tank. People need to learn responsibility with living creatures. Itâs not a toy that you play with for a day and never use it again.
There are things that are up in the air and are up for you to decide what's best for your pet. The only thing about the 450 square inch minimum in the us that is in question is if it should be BIGGER.
This is exactly what I was thinking "my pet, my rules" come on girl... you said right from the get-go it wasn't enough and instead of wasting the money from a 10gal because she "doesn't have enough room" to whatever size this one is she could of easily bought a 40 that would of fit on her desk. Just for the aesthetic đ
Fr fr she can make a bin cage that is what I am going to do
I so agree.
I do think she is trying her best in most areas, and I applaud her for it, she seems very knowledgeable too, (large wheel, safe bedding, multiple toys + hideouts, she knows to keep old bedding in the cage and knows that spot cleaning is less stressful, which I think is positively amazing) but rejecting a larger cage altogether on her own terms (because she doesn't have the space) is so neglectful.
I personally have used 8 square feet in my room devoted to a large hamster cage. And it's not like everyone needs to do that, 450 square inches is 15 inches by 30 inches, it's not hard to squeeze somewhere.
Saying that it's "your pet so you can do what you want with it" means that you'll have no problem if I abuse and completely neglect my dog "because she's mine" (btw this I an example, I care for my dog and would never do anything bad to her.)
Like you said, this animal is a life, it's not about what you want, this is about what the animal needs.
You can keep a dog in a small pen or crate all its life, feeding it and giving it toys to play with, but in the end, the animal is only surviving, not thriving.
She is very cute! I suggest taking the plastic hideout out because it can get very humid and hot in there and cause health problems! Great job with the cage and everything :)
I love ur cage!
A good idea for when u need to save the bedding you can gather bog clumps and save it for when ur done cleaning the cage
Where did u get your tank because my cage is very small and it wires so I really need a nice big glass tank like that
I see plenty of space for at least a 40 gallon tank, and please donât use scented bedding because it can be harmful to the hamster. But other than that ur doing great đ
@Kaley Hanson Why does it matter if the bin cage is Aesthetic or not? It doesnât matter. You should try and give your hamster the best life possible. and she isnât willing to do that , because she is selfish. If she cannot afford a 40 gallon tank spthen she shouldnât even get a hamster.

Your doing such a great job taking care of her but I noticed her wheel you should get a wheel that solid with out those ridges because her feet can get hurt overall I think everything is great
You should add some protein to her diet like dried mealworms or The mazuri Rat and mouse pellets! And maybe get her some sprays itâs great for foraging you can get them on Amazon just look up natural oat spray foraging treat
It is normal that she takes all her food at once. Most hamsters do that because that is what they do in the wild so other animals donât take their food. Also I think you should feed her more often. Like maybe if you notice that she ate all her food. Wait for a few minutes. If she goes back to check for more it means she expects you to bring her food. Donât worry itâs normal.
