Season 17 Ranked Apex Legends has turned into a rat extermination game, where players play hide and seek in an effort to gain as many points as possible. In this system you can hit Apex Predator by dealing ZERO damage, so it begs the question: should we BAN players exploiting this system?

Respawn is literally asking people to rat this season. Surprised they aren't banning people that fight off drop as "griefing" their team.
In this system, no. In a better ranked system where this play style isn’t rewarded so heavily, yes. It would need a rigorous checking because I’m sure the way the apex community is many people would get reported for just not doing exactly what their teammates say, but going into a game with intention of essentially not playing the game should be bannable. OW2 has a great report feature for this where any time your teammate is afk or willingly not playing the game, it is a reportable offense as griefing. Obviously not exactly the same because in OW there is no benefit to not playing the game besides screwing over your teammates, but point still stands.

Getting to masters and pred should be about killing many and placing high not just one you need both.
Got the same teammate this week, so annoying he didn't got dmg and he only rat the whole season with 123k LP points ratting -_-
unless pro/high skill players were willing to stop W key the entire lobby (which we know they are not) ratting would still remain, no matter what entry cost (actually increasing this would only makes it worst not better) nor the avg lobby rank of each game. Also you know a take is bad when the original tweet gets deleted
I agree with the first part, but I disagree with a higher entry cost making ratting worse. Ratting of this level (0 damage) wasn’t a problem in the previous system because you still needed KP to go positive once you hit Diamond
@@ADeliciousMango and that's a bad system cus surviving is the main goal of the game, that's why ratting is a lame but valid strat to climb. Ratting would not be as easy to do if ONLY 2 conditions were met, Ape culture needs to stop and dying early (bottom 10) need to actually mean something. One without the other would not fly. We know the first one would never happen unless lobbies are locked into ONLY allowing players from the same level and even then, high skill lobbies (aka any ALGS lobby) are not specially good at this point and queues would be so long that pros would complain (as usual and per recorded instances of this). So we left with the 2nd one which at this point it's just a player retention tool for RPSN.
@@geracervantes2362any system that rewards somebody for leaving their teammates and hiding under the map is a bad system. Since the top players will go seek out fights and eliminate teams quickly, Top 10 is just unfortunately too easy to reach, so that’ll never change. I’m an advocate for needing at least a couple KP to gain points once you hit Diamond, because you can’t change the ape culture anymore, too late for that

Which is more a grief, shooting your AFK TEAMMATE, ruining your own game, while yelling obscenities, OR being a solo rat? I chose the high road.

lol I use to kind of play fortnight like that when it first came out. I'd run off and hide all game after getting guns until the last circle then I'd put down 100's of triangle floors and hide in one you could edit the wall to see threw it then when the last teams or guys got done fighting I'd pop out and 1 shot them for an ez win.

@@ADeliciousMango lol I found my old video of how I use to get my wins czcams.com/video/JgkS0Ns_P50/video.html I loved playing this way to troll and it kind of worked back then I won a lot of games but I quit a little bit after people started getting ADHD with building you shoot them in a back next thing you know they got a $600k house made right in front of you in .4 sec then one tap you with a shotgun. I did enjoy the new build for a bit tho.
Whilst I don't think people should be banned and agree with the analysis that the ranked system is at fault for this, my question to people doing it is, why? You will achieve a high rank and higher than you have managed in previous seasons but what exactly are you doing, spending a bunch of time in your life doing something boring in order to achieve something that doesn't really matter. It can't possibly be enjoyable to play in this way. Is that not the purpose of playing video games, to have fun and enjoy it?
The whole team is involved if it’s something like a Kostic or whatever cause you’re locking down the area, expecting someone to find you at some point it’s not hide and seek and I guess if your whole team is hiding that’s OK pretty much I don’t know but if you’re joining up with randoms, expecting to play the game for how it is and being forced into that team because you can’t leave or else there’s a penalty it’s pretty much the same thing if you leave your down a team if you hide your down a team
As a caustic main with high ping and instable internet connection, i always “forced” my teammates to hide and play defensively, yeah we play like a team but i’m “forcing” them, if they wanted to push someone i would be like someone who is ratting, so i should get banned or apex servers should get better?
when they changed the scoring system to make placement a huge factor, they started rewarding ratting, if that is now having unintended results then they should put it back the way it was rather than banning players.
I’m thinking about ratting to get to gold really fast, and then playing normally. What are your thoughts on this?

Better rank system period but at the moment where's it's at I think Ratting is a strategy. Me and my friends would rat 'till top 10 to ensure no points lost. We were able to get a few champs here and there by third partying the final team.

Autumn is right. These rats deserve to be banned. It may seem harmless to some, but they are just griefing peoples games. Choices are, you either throw intentionally and leave the game early taking a loss or choose to waste time playing out a game with no 3rd. Thats exactly what playing a game with no 3rd is when solo q-ing, a waste of time. You're not going to win without luck, and youre not going to get any good practice or learn anything valuable other than zone knowledge. Forget actually playing the game, communicating well, fundamentals, shooting/moving/rotating skills. Forget improving entirely and just focus on external meaningless trinkets (LP/ranked rewards) They are either too dumb to realize they are ruining peoples experiences or too selfish to care..
Apex is a team game and these people do not classify as teammates. Sabotuers would be a far more accurate description. Sure you'll make points, but at what cost? Wasting 20 minutes of your limited time that you'll never get back, that you could've spent trying to improve as a player and a teamate or just literally doing anything else.
I now speak directly to any rats reading this. You're only lying to yourselves. Go on get that badge. Find out the hard way that it is meaningless. Have fun!

As i said below another Video, they should replace the Dia/Master/Pred Badge of ratting ppl with a unequippable bronze/silver/golden Rat Badge and a unequippable glitter dive trail xD

Rank is meant to reflect off for your skill. The only reason people are masters is because they’re Hella good at the game if you want to grind something I guess grind your level or something ring is supposed to be competitive that’s why in all the other games with the similar rank system, have the name, competitive cause you level up based on your skill, not hiding somewhere in the map and getting no damage
Annoying but not ban worthy imo. Also the only shot I’d have of getting Masters.

the ranked system needs to be adjusted so that elims of better playes gives you more LP bonus as a lower rank. Eliminations are apart of the game.
It's also full of aimbots
People can no fill and not frustrate their teammates. If they just sit in one place mostly, it's inactivity. From the banning standpoint, would it get people to actually play with their team or just no fill? Probably. From the don't ban them perspective, it's certainly bad form and shouldn't be done.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. This is what respawn created, what they wanted. Placement over skill. Engagement and retention over fun. They're to blame for this. Even their weapon mastery rewards false use, holding instead of holstering. This way the theoretical numbers for EA look good. It's not about fun, or the player base. It's just to please.the EA gods.

outright banning is quite dumb and selfish but if ratting is happning in ranks then they need to put some penalty on those players,
I often face this type of players but I play in trio so its not big deal for me. and honestly speaking anyone would fish for easy RP its fault of the devs for braking the system
No you are wrong here. Ratting is happening because of having a brain that see strategy, rather than go fight and die. If you choose to fight its a 50/50 chance coinflip that u either win or loose the fight. If you hide around avoiding to fight, then your chance to survive and gain LP is much higher. So hiding is actualy a big brain move to do, where fighting non stop is just monkey brain, "hulk smash". theres a reason the game have ring zones, so you can pick and choose what strategy is best for you and your team.
I aknowlegde the facts theres multiple ways to play the game, and multiple player types. so if you want to fight and you solo que and get a teammate that want to hide, then you would not have fun, okay then the problem is the system is forcing you to play 3 man squads in ranked, where you have to pug or play with 2 friends all the time thats on same rank and mindset, wich is really hard to do. so why not make the game a ranked mode where ppl can solo que to 1 man army and instead of 60 players in 20 squads of 3 players, you would have 20 players fighting alone to survive and kill. Thats more fair to all. so you can fight and I can hide if we want to. Stop forcing ppl to pug in squads. the same problem is in all multiplayer games. take LOL you are forced to play with 4 random ppl, where atleast 2 of them int, troll or just having insanely bad behavior. so stop blaminng the player. blame the companies that force players to play in teams.

its a massive issue for people who actually want to play the game. Ive encountered it alot its not good for the game. The issue is that the game isnt being played as its supposed to be played. When i solo i want to shoot my guns and play a shooter not a survival mmo. I dont like the fact that people are just avoiding everyone wich is almost impossible near the end of the game. I dont want to be left beheind. I wanna eliminate teams to win not run around and hide from all the fights.

It's the ranked system. That's the dumbest thing to call for ban when they are playing the system. Now I am not condoning it by anymeans. I think it's repawns fault. The person ratting for LP can say that they griefed him because he was playing the game as the system is intended. And againnnn I do not condone this. They should have patched ranked by now. I think it's ignorant to say he is greifing

You can't tell people how to play. You also can't expect people to do, what you want them to do. I feel sorry for Respawn, they changed ranked system due to endless moaning. Which has led to endless moaning. A perfect ranked system that suits everyone is impossible to achieve, accept that. Lets moan less and enjoy the change of gameplay.
Idgaf about +25 or whatever i dont even care about winning when i have a rat on my team i would rather he get banned for greifing 100+ players game than get some extra points from 1 game and might get him as my teammate again next match. And u cant do the argument with ''caustic trapping himself in a building'' cause guess what? He can be shot from players where as u cant shoot a valkyrie ratting 500 meters above the map or 100 meters under the map but u will always be able to kill a caustic in a building cause guess what?
