D., is professor of philosophy and cultural history at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where he founded the graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. Much of what he is talking about is happening in my life. This talk was very helpful, particularly the last third where he addresses self-discernment.
I agree with you Christian, however too many either dont trust that inner voice perhaps been over indoctrinated by opinions they haven't discerned their own potential that seeks us.
Thanks for uploading. Rick certainly has a magic about him. In one respect he is that conscience voice that prompts me to be still and remain mindful of my surrounding and inner-self, which may very well be one and the same. There are many ways to keep the torch lit and pass that fire on to others. Tarnas has been doing it rather wonderfully.

I very much realize the extreme difficulty to articulate this important topic but I feel Tarnas has done an excellent job.

What a legend Mr Tarnas is. Jung can be so hard to work through, so worthwhile though. This talk is an excellent look at part of his work and I am eternally grateful to have found it
It does not make much sense to me to say "the archetype arranged the synchronicity", even less so to state it did this through "archetypal causality."
No, synchronicities are always mirroring our _personal processes._ Jung focused intensely on the idea of archetypes, so that is what he got confirmation for. But you can do that with any other idea or pattern as well, and you'll find a lot of synchronistic events to support your chosen thesis. It's the way our consciousness interacts with the universe.
This is a good point. However, when he makes the statement that the archetype arranged the synchronicity, he does so in a more wholistic way than just taking the single sentence on its own. I think he actually means what you said, that the universe is responding to our unconscious.
Also, is it correct to frame the unconscious and archetypes as dualistic and separate like you have?
5 years ago I would agree with you. But in the last 5 years I've seen synchronicity manifest so powerfully in my own life, as well as those around me, in such a way that I see something much more profound happening. The synchronisities appear to all follow a basic theme, causing me personally to see that there is a unifying force (I call GOD) at work in all mankind. It would be really interesting to hear Jung's take on the state of affairs in this hour. My life has become so strange that I dont know what to make of things anymore. Not in a bad, or confusing way. But its definately caused me to search high and low for meaning. Man is definately changing very quickly.

The End of Materialism...(everything is God/pure consciousness/pure awareness/The All)
One day, a few years ago, I felt an irritation in my eye like you get when an eyelash or something is in your eye that shouldn't be there. I spent hours searching for the cause of the irritation and rinsing my eye with water but nothing helped. My eye became red and swollen and was nearly impossible to see out of as the days went by. After about 5 days I couldn't deal with the discomfort anymore so before I went to bed I told myself that the next day I would go to the doctor or emergency room to get my eye taken care of. As soon as I went to bed that night I fell asleep almost immediately and I had a dream of my eyeball and I could see the source of the irritation in my eye, which was a very very small piece of eyelash that was still attached to the eyelid, but it was pointing into my eyeball, constantly scratching it. After seeing the solution to my problem, I woke up right away and ran to my bathroom mirror to look in my eye where I saw the eyelash in my dream and it was right there exactly how it was in my dream. I removed the eyelash and my eye was fine the next day.
I have many more examples of experiences that I have had that prove materialism is false but they would take awhile to explain, so I'll just list them now and explain in detail as soon as I can...
I have seen the "7 spirits of God" descend from the sky, which appeared as 7 immensely bright lights that arched across the night sky from the northeast to the southwest like laser beams. This occurred so fast that I would have missed it if I blinked my eyes. Over 10 years ago I dealt with debilitating depression and decided to end my life by overdosing on 25 antidepressant pills. I took the pills, went to bed and expected to die but instead I had at least 3 seizures, lost consciousness and woke up on a bed in the hospital. When I woke up, the very first thing I saw was a huge snake on the ceiling that I thought was real. As someone came in the door to my room, I looked down to tell them about the snake and when I looked back up, it was gone. I have had synchronicities and so many experiences that are difficult to put into words. I'm going to record a video soon to better explain everything and well, how the entire world is going to change...

We humans are so egocentric. We are three year olds who think we are creating all the things around us and are the center of all and everything. How can we not see the possibility that Gaia is more sentient than we are? Hello? We are the fingers of her hands, not the will or the brain of her whole self.

Interesting topic. I’ve experienced synchronicity and have had out of body experiences. Still not sold on the theory of reincarnation. Humans love to fill in the blanks with their desires and beliefs. All life consumes life for survival. It’s more about the frame of mind and respecting nature. The animal I hunt will die and feed my body, I will die and feed the soil, soil feeds the fruit that the animals eat. Humans have gone off the rails with consumption. Balance is key. Synchronicity helps guide you to find balance with mind, body, and God.

I've found that the unexpected is often an attention grabber - a way to get you to notice something, to pay closer attention to it, and then discern further. Japanese culture embraces imperfection, adding one to an object felt to be perfect so as to fully beautify it. They call this wabi-sabi. Herein, the wabi-sabi is with you. Unless the title has been changed, the useage "its" is actually correct. The apostrophe is reserved to signify a joining of the words it and is. Using an apostrophe to signify ownership is inaccurate. So congratulations Greg, you are beautiful.

My ideas and thoughts and opinions and experiences are so very different than anyone. People are so divided in themselves... So strange. This idea that you have become whole and accepted death is silly when you believe in reincarnation and such. There are other ways of explaining things. Like the mind is extended through all time and space. Such strange contradictions exist in everyone. The bible says what is divided can not stand. Humanity is divided and conquered by a single being, both internally and externally. Everyone is trying to possess future bodies and past bodies like evil insignificant souls. And view this as good. I won't play that game.

Tarnas doesn’t reach Jung’s ankle.
It is all for a positive purpose. The great lie. The fearless view of a reality which should be feared. Fear is not the distortion. This holy super ego you grow is the distortion. You need selfless discovery. Yet your ego says no we need self discovery. DMT is not meant to be viewed as self. It is NOT self. You need LESS self awareness. You need other awareness. You are on the exact opposite of what reality is saying. Everyone is automatically self aware, there is no need for further development of self in life. The journey is not about your soul, you make the journey about you, and you in tje worst way, your soul. It is about other. The growth is the growth of whole but you make it about you. You even make other about you when you talk about other! You are in the worst state possible and think you are leaning the right way! You even put your "divine" in the other! You are so sick and blind... You are exactly how you should be for me to manipulate and use and abuse.
