Update. I now own both guns. Bought the Smith 2 weeks ago. Have had the Taurus awhile .Am selling one gun to a dealer. And it aint the Taurus. You are also wrong on pricing sir. The real difference is about $ 120. Smith like many is just a name. And some folks worry about telling what name they have for a gun.But i dont look for what glitters & shines. S&w makes a great gun I have both just got the G3c an started modding it also have shield I have done ever mod to it possibly an I would have to say the shield is better quality but I love both
I haven’t shot the S&W but I own the Taurus g3c. I’ve put several hundred rounds thru it and not 1 malfunction. The trigger takes a lil getting used too (a lot of take-up). Also, I got it for $204💪😁💪😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
If you got the three mag deal, that puts this video out of date on the 50 dollar difference. It's more like 150 bucks difference PLUS a third mag which is what, another 20 to 25 bucks maybe so now you're nearing 200 dollar difference.

I'm am one of the few that really like a hammer fired semi. So while looking at the Shield Plus, I am now looking closer at the Taurus TH9c because of the hammer. Capacity same, weight/dimensions insignificant at the end of the day. Like the hammer and size of the safety. $260 to around $300. Still thinking because I don't need it. But as they say, I you want something, you need it.
Bought mine in 2021 for 300 bucks and there was a special at Academy Sports. Three mags and an attached Viridian trigger guard red dot. Yeah, that 50 difference is WAY off. S&W mags usually sell for $39 so that's another cost. Taurus mags are about half that cost. I don't own the Shield Plus but was looking at it as a possible replacement and I just don't see doing it. Maybe I'm just too use to whatever he found wrong with the trigger. And I'm also one of those who likes the double strike capability and a safety. Right off the bat after looking at it, the safety would never lend itself to a quick, as you unholster, safety unlock. I practice it often.
As most have pointed out, the Taurus is quite a bit cheaper than the Smith ( not $50). I also prefer the wider grip of the Taurus, and the trigger is probably one of the nicer triggers from the factory I've felt. The difference in the weight is basically a wash.
I don't know where you got your prices. MSRP S&W Shield Plus is $553, maybe on sale somewhere for the $450 price, but not typically. MSRP on the Taurus G3C is $303, on sale everywhere for under $280. So not a $50 dollar difference, more like a a $150 to $170 difference in real stores and a $250 difference in MSRP.
Would that double strike capability of the Taurus work with a laser training cartridge? If so, that could be a big plus for someone wanting to perform dry-fire training with their handgun.
Wow, things must have changed. I'm seeing the Taurus G3c for as little as $229. Shield Plus $399. I paid around 300 bucks for my G3c but it included a Viridian trigger guard red dot already attached. Sells for over a hundred for the trigger red dot alone. Not optic ready when I bought but a gunsmith can change that if you have to have it, really not much of a problem. I dont have an urge for an optic on my conceal carry.

My area up in wisconsin i can get the shield for about 400 and i can get a cool green g3c for like 290 with 3 mags. Im just worried i wont like the trigger on taurus and that the slide while loose the finish from edc

Looking at getting both of these, but for my first firearm, I want the Taurus then after I get comfortable, I will get the Smith & Wesson they both feel great in my opinion

G3c can be purchased at Rural King for $239.00 with 2 magazines. G2c for $239.00 with 3 magazines… I love my Taurus G2C….

You can but the g3c for 200. About 200 less than the shield plus.

I'm using the Taurus g3c to be first gun to training in and dry fire training. Then move to canik tp9 elite sc and combat
