- Peacocks are wreaking havoc in some Los Angeles neighborhoods. Some people love them, others just want some peace and quiet. That’s why a new bill banning feeding the birds is so controversial. NBC News NOW correspondent Simone Boyce went looking for some in East Pasadena.

I would take a neighborhood full of peacocks anytime instead of the noise, garbage, drug dealing and thugs I have in mine.
I'm in the same vote
seems like the perfect story to cover for NBC considering their logo
Lol ☺👍
Niiiice 🤙🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I'd so love to be surrounded by these beautiful birds and hear them than constant crimes, and loud cars/bikes!
I agree
Of course NBC is reporting Peacock stories.
Funny how this was posted on NBC News, their logo is LITERALLY a RAINBOW PEACOCK!!! Lol 🤪😂
I’d love to have peacocks in my neighborhood! I love the sound they make.
They sound like a woman calling for help. The fact that you love this sound is... disturbing.
@@simonelliot3712you are disturbing
@@maniacram Alright.
@simonelliot3712 you are disturbing. It sounds nothing like a woman. Your on something.
Bunch of haters 😂 beautiful birds and so unique. They should enjoy their beauty.
Having peacocks us such a blessings....
That guy who calls this a nuisance is quite a sad guy .... cannot appreciate life....
I love Peacocks too but he has a point. Peacocks are VERY noisy and, especially during the breeding season, can be very aggressive and can attack people or break glass since they can't comprehend there reflection. They're essentially just prettier turkeys. Personally I don't mind Peacocks but I understand why people can find them a nuisance
LEAVE THE BIRDS ALONE. PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEM WITH EVERYTHING
Technically its an invasive species. Do you feel the same way about the Asian carp clogging up our riverways or are those note cute enough?
🛑. Ok.... Just. 🛑
Peacocks 🦚 ARE BEAUTIFUL 🦚🦚🦚
I grew up around them in PVE, a southwest area of LA, and I never heard of many problems. Never heard of damage to cars, just cars having to slow down for them. I think they’re pretty and exotic, and a distinguishing feature.
I think they are an invasive spices from a different continent and just there presence endangers local natural habitats. Do you feel the same way about the Asian carp clogging up our riverways or are they not cute enough?
I mean, a big hairy wart on the end of someone's nose would also be a "distinguishing feature" - and still, everyone would think it's a better idea to get rid of it.
I live in arcadia, where they originated from, they do pick at cars
@SHICKEN NUGGIES an invasive species is introduced by humans. Humans move themselves. For something to qualify as an invasive species it has to be introduced to a new habit. If the animal/plant moves on its own it doesn't qualify as an invasive species.
Lmfao you really thought you said something huh. Hahahaha would you like to try again, or are you done making yourself look foolish?
Kind of ironic that NBC would have a story on Peacocks lol.
My neighbor had 2 peacocks as pets. Huge birds, bigger than turkeys. They were beautiful, but when they shrieked they sounded like someone was being murdered.
Seriously, there would be these terrifying screeching sounds in the middle of the night. It did not sound like the birds in this video though...
It sounded like a MURDER.
That is true. From a short distance (especially if you don't know the call already) it sounds like a woman calling for help.
Soso agree. One has to see and listen to one LIVE to truly appreciate “How can something has such beauty but sound so ugly!!” God has a wicked sense of humor
What's wrong with people? People make alot of noise, make alot of trash, and scratch alot of cars!
It’s like this where I used to live in Florida. They are pretty but damage cars. The city is wanting to relocate them too.
Yeah girls are pretty and damage cars but unfortunately we can't relocate them 😩
Two peacocks used to hang around at my house since it was the only safe place in the neighborhood. Sure, their calls were a bit annoying but I got used to it. They never damaged the cars either. They trusted me and my family since we fed them, gave them water, and showed no hostility.
I haven't seen them in over 2 months so I hope they're doing alright.
I love them! My neighbor has them! I want some! Bah humbug to that man!
Your 19 cats won't get along with them.
What's ironic is this was reported by NBC...
Love how i got a Peacock ad before the video.
Peacocks SCREAM like someone calling for help. At 5 am.
I have some peacocks in the neighborhood (in Berlin, Germany) and cannot share the problems described here. These animals are wonderful and harmless. Their calls are more exotic and can be heard more in the breeding season. You don't have to dramatize everything. Enjoy life and these sensational animals.
Their call sounds like a child screaming "help!"
Not really.
@@LP-cr7jo The ones on the farm near my grandmother do. It terrified me the 1st time I heard it.
@@sammavacaist Ok, hope you are still alive.
@@LP-cr7jo Lol. It was just new information for me never having heard it before. I liked watching them perch in the trees with their tails hanging down. Never saw them do that before either.
I love peacocks.
The most beautiful bird in the world
I feel bad for the residents who have to deal with damaged cars, peacock waste, and the loud calls they make. So, I hope most of the birds can be safely and humanely relocated soon, but you can't, or more precisely, you shouldn't try to force ppl not to feed them. Feeding someone, be it human or animal is an act of kindness and love, and states shouldn't try to criminalize empathy and kindness.
Also, does anyone know how the birds got there in the first place?
Karen’s in my area complained about too many turkeys and one day they all just disappeared 😢
How do you say... ommm nomm nommm.
@@simonelliot3712 you’re probably right. Jokes on them I live in NJ. the birds were probably toxic, lol
umm did she just meow at a peacock?
I think they're beautiful these people are nuts for wanting them to go away
i live in arcadia and visit the arboretum often . the peacocks will escape and cross roads to the apartment complexes across the street and make their calls all day. It's totally understandable
That was FUNNY!!! Great job by the reporter!!!
Question number one: do they taste like chicken or turkey?
They taste more like tofu. You can pretty much add it to anything and it's fine.
Accused of what foul behavior?
“Fowl Behavior” it’s a pun
What is wrong with people?
People in the USA are so lucky having such wonderful wildlife
I imagine the neighbors of those feeding the birds are not happy.
I bet they had fun making this one. Will CBS focus on eye health and cataracts?
Lol😂
The girl who doesnt mind the noise must be half-deaf
nbc: pro peacock
cbs: *peacocks are pests????*
I mean... their logo is literally a *peacock*...
Who made Simone play in the bird feed like that
It is the planet of the peacocks.
Try live in NYC then you'll say its better staying with annoying peacock rather than dangerous neighbourhood....
Wow... Theyre beautiful. Ive never seen one yet. 😮
What's the *problem?* Hopefully we won't see crispy peacock sandwiches on any local eatery menus.
I don't think that was a "Sir" at the end 😆
There's this happening to another place where there's me that Haven't even seen one in person ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
Wow some these people can’t appreciate the beauty of this.
Humanely relocated to the nearest bbq grill
Amennn siiiiis
So are they in California or Los Angeles?!?
I wouldn't mind. Wish we had a peacock where I'm at.
Let them be, they love a nice neighborhood.
Can you cookem? Roast Peacock!
Yes you can but I'm told they taste like overly dry pheasant.
The are BEAUTIFUL!!!! But where did they come from??
Possibly from Asian countries like India, Philippines, Thailand..
0:08: My brain at 3AM
This is in San Pedro as well. Beautiful birds but definitely need to be in the wild. Not a concrete jungle
I have peacock feathers I had received 10 years ago I still have them
It's only fate that these Majestic Birds came! Isn't iNBCs symbol?
I didn’t like all the crap on my back porch… or them banging on the sliding glass door for hours.
That does everyone 🚶♀️🚶♂️ in L.A. I say feathers and cake for everyone....it like a hail storm I wonder if it's covered in a policy?
And 🥚 wonder if they are good to eat I bet it's the miracle cure for #19..
If you want to live somewhere quiet just go to Alaska or something
They’re beautiful, all birds are noisy and peck things and are stupid what’s the big deal?
They own this planet and they not create pollution like humans.
Someone in Kansas where my dad is has them and they got wild populations there. They can be annoying, the ordinance should implement population control and fixing them if owned. They can survive here as an invasive species and should be treated as such.
Wow so adorable
❤
I’m watching from Texas loooool
I suggest that those that want to keep them, make sure they stay in their own yard and then feed and shelter and care for them.
It is an invasive species, not "wild life".
Peacocks are Awesome ...
$100 a chick in Oz ...
"Everybody should have an incubator 'or two" ...
So much peacock hate :-( I have at least 50 peacocks all around my place and I love it.
Don't believe me? I have videos .. :-P
What makes you think you have to put distracting, aggravating plunk-plunk-plunk noise over the top of spoken dialog?
How happy
Wow amazing pretty I love it
We would all be a Stephanie
Do you love peacock?
You can't hunt the "hunter"...silly rabbits. 😉
Nature is beautiful ❤️ but of course some humans ALWAYS want to act like only they have a say in everything. Btw, who brought these 🦚 here in the USA!
Scatter them across the country for a bit of regality everywhere.
Pretty peacocks
There's alot of snobs in pasadena!!!
I love it!!!
They are like deer
Leave the birds alone.
Loud, whatever. We have em here in FL too.
Noone cares. They are nature, we are the intruders.
Lake Placid go Betty!
Try wild pigs routing every night lol that’s what I have. Count your blessings.
You're right...these people should be thankful it's not wild pigs. At least peacocks aren't dangerous and smelly.
This would be cool but as a mom of 2 babies I would hate this. Good bye sleep
Viva NBC y los pavos reales
They need to go !!!
What happen if we pluck the feather making the male ugly. Would they still mate?
Cute
So did the Indians bring them over as pets and then some escaped?
Not Indians. Rich people who thought it would be cool to have peacocks on their estate. And then...well you've heard about the birds and the bees, right? 😂
Ths r good fortune birds
why do humans always have a problem with animals? ANIMALS EXIST ALSO AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT. the nice birdies like it there leave them alone please? :)
peacocks starts to go crazy in america because america is the country of freedom, in america peacocks likes to damage cars and create waste and noises
It's nice they want to relocate them. But what about the impact on the native wildlife. Where they relocate them to? These animals are invasive feral pests & should be treated as such. The kindest thing to do would be to relocate them to a specialist bird park. & put them in an escape proof enclosure. Or to put them humanly down.
I wonder how good they taste. I'd be willing to find out.
@@forkyou1922 I'm told they taste like overly dry pheasant.
Peacock is the most beautiful bird in the world so leave them alone. Bunch of irresponsible vagabonds.
Eat them.
Peacocks are great grilled in a Weber.
And the feathers are easily sold.
I don’t know about that but OK. Do whatever you want.
Nice that they will rehouse annoying peacocks but coyotes are literally eating our domestic pets by the score every night, snatching them from fenced yards, and no one will rehouse the ! I guess we will just have to wait until they take a child.
Eat them.
Grill them up in a weber just like you were a turkey.
You will enjoy the finest meal of your life

@@Hachacha08 what does that meam
Ohhh this one is funny
Love peacocks
Can they be eaten?
Don’t the humans create more noise, pollution and environmental issues?
Can’t we humans just leave the beautiful immigrant birds be?
Peacocks are great until one lives in your neighborhood. Only then do you realize what a menace they are. And if you know how kooky a crazy-cat-lady is...just picture it...a crazy-peacock-lady is 10x worse than that. Outside making her dumb noises. These birds should be humanely located to a local food shelter where the meat can be put to good use.
