    Kalli I am really proud of you girl! Way to stick it out. You are right... getting into a nursing program is not easy. It's a beast! That being said, I feel obligated to tell you some hard, tough, and important lessons I learned in nursing school. But before I do, please understand that I am not assuming you will or will not do any of these things. These are just lessons I LEARNED and want to pass on to you so you can have the best experience possible! These tips aren't a reflection of what I think about you. They just to help! With that being said....
    1. DO NOT TALK ABOUT ANYONE! - This one cratered my entire nursing school experience. I made ONE comment about someone that was unkind to me, and it bit me in the butt hard core... and the damage was irreversible.
    2. STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE THAT TALK ABOUT OTHERS! - Avoid these people! They will get you into trouble just by association. Monitor who gossips and STAY AWAY! Remember... you have to spend YEARS with these people! You are your environment. Aka... who you allow in your space, is who you will start mimicking behavior-wise. Associate with GOOD PEOPLE!
    3. Find a study buddy / study group. - Keep the groups small; 2-3 people including yourself. Don't be afraid to kick people out that just wanna screw around and talk about whatever. This is your career on the line. You can chat and BS any time.
    4. NEVER adopt the mentality of - "Oh I got this." or "Ehhh I'll study later... it's only a quiz." - -Girl... I can't tell you how many times ONE POINT on an assignment came through for me. Also, hospitals will want to see your transcripts during the application/interview process. Think they want a nurse with B's and C's?
    5. BE CAREFUL about who you reveal your grades to. Some people get pretty competitive. Your grades are YOUR BUSINESS. If anyone presses you for grades, use this line: "Why are my grades so important to your success here?" --Watch 'em back off in a hot second. ;-) --(Oh.. and then avoid them.) Lol
    6. Get adequate sleep! --Your grades will suffer and your memory recall will crash if you don't sleep well!
    7. Get up for class THREE HOURS EARLY! - This gives you time to spool up, get ready, eat, and get to campus with zero stress. And sometimes you can even study or work on assignments with your pals while waiting for class to start.
    8. Do laundry AHEAD OF TIME! - Don't wait until both / all of your uniforms are dirty. Trust me. Nursing students have ALL THE THINGS happen when you don't want them to! Lol, broken washer machine, no laundry detergent, no this, no that, this happened, that happened..... stay ahead with laundry! Lol 🙂
    9. Remember that this ISNT ABOUT YOU ANYMORE! - You are going to be out in the world with people's lives in your hands. When you don't feel like learning content, remember.... that's information that could save someone's life or prevent an injury. Burn this type of thinking into your DNA.
    10. Last but not least... HAVE FUN! Nursing school is HARD HARD HARD! But just because it's hard... doesn't mean you can't make it fun. Have study sessions with friends. Make games for yourself with the content. Stand in the mirror and call yourself Nurse Kalli. Don't let yourself fall into the void of stress and fear. You can do this. You got this!
    I hope this helps. Again, these are lessons I learned... and I hope they will provide you will an excellent experience! Take care and I look forward to your next video girl!

      Thank you so much for all of the tips!! I really appreciate them. I especially like the one about remembering that everything I’m learning could be content that saves someone’s life. That’s part of the reason I’m so excited to start the program, because I can’t wait to be in classes where every bit of information we’re learning is important and has the potential to be life saving! Just gotta remember that on the days I don’t especially feel like learning or I’m lacking motivation 😂 Thank you again for all the tips and I’ll be sure to keep them in mind throughout nursing school!!

      @@Kalli4499 - Excellent! Glad to hear they were of help! Trust me... there are gonna be days where you are like... "ugh... I dont wanna read this or... I dont wanna listen to that." It's okay lol. Don't beat yourself up about it. Just don't SKIP anything! 😉 Again, I know you are gonna be great. You got this Nurse Kalli! 😎

    New subscriber! I appreciate your encouragement. I’m an introvert so opening up can be a challenge, but I’m sure there’s going to be a few I click with.

    Yassss! Congrats on getting in! Cuz working on prereqs can be difficult! I’m about to finish my first quarter and I can’t believe 10 weeks has already gone by so fast! It’s hard to figure out a whole new way of studying as well. Which is what I’m still figuring out. Stay positive & you got this! 🎉❤

    What are your tips to get through chemistry in the pre-reqs? It’s my hardest! Applying to the program in the fall. Did your program require the Covid vaccine? I really hope mine does not!

    • @Kalli4499
      @Kalli4499  Před rokem +1

      I would say my best tips would be to stay organized and stay dedicated! If you’re ever struggling or find yourself doubting yourself, just remember that you can do it and are just as capable of passing or getting an A as anyone else! Keeping your goals and dreams in mind will help you get through it despite how hard the pre-reqs can be. Chemistry, anatomy, and microbiology were definitely my toughest classes! And about the Covid vaccine, I think (but I’m not positive) it varies based on clinical placement whether we have to get it or not
