I've done quite a bit of reading today, and it sure looks like their collaboration is over. I'm glad I got to see them when they were still touring together.

In fairness there was no Hall without Oates and no Oates without Hall. They will always be recognized as a dynamic duo regardless of who contributed more, is more talented...etc. Hopefully they can work things out eventually and be remembered as one of pop music's best duos to have ever performed.

If they're both still physically able(pushing 60, & only a shadow of my former self, I get it if they aren't), they can make more in one tour than most hit bands can make in a career.
You know, I gained a LOT of respect for Daryl, when he refused to take the bait, on Howard Stern, a few years ago, when Howard dissed John, as the "lesser talent," & Daryl defended John, by reminding the audience that "John wrote all our #1 hits," which I didn't previously know. So, I don't know what's going on with them, now, but it's similar to a spat or even a divorce. Smart people don't immediately take sides, or assume they know what the truth is. Daryl still has a beautiful voice, even in his 70s, and it's obvious why he was the front man of the duo, but no-one should assume "that little Italian guy" was just a hanger-on. John has always been less public & less out-front, but even according to Daryl's relatively recent defenses of his partner, John was always an indispensable talent, responsible for much of the duo's success. More recent statements to the contrary can just be legal parsing, due to a falling out over a creative difference. I don't know why Daryl hasn't had much success on his own, but neither has John. But, Daryl clearly has those frontman ego demons that John doesn't.
When I saw them in Vegas at one of the casinos I said hello to John and he spoke back. He was so sweet and he gave me a hug and then I said hello to Daryl and that mofo looked at me like I had a creature coming out of my face and didn't say anything back...lol .. I felt so embarrassed. Whatever is going on between them I'm sure it's Daryl's fault!!! 😂😂😂
My favorite group as a kid in the early '80's. Finally saw them live in 1997, and played great. Afterwards, Hall was not exactly gracious to fans waiting for an autograph...I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the years since suggest he might not be the most cordial guy, unfortunately....
This saddens me greatly. These guys have known each other since college and had incredible highs and lows throughout their career and were the best of friends. I hope this gets resolved quickly and they can both respectfully move on and remain friendly.
Damn that sucks. They were huge in the '80's. My folks first began listening to them when Daryl and John were truing to make a name for themselves. I hope they can rekindle their friendship and settle things right. These two met in the 1960s.
Countless examples, human relationships can be tough. Pairs and teams and business working relationships can be tough, some becoming seemingly impossible. It is important to try to respect ‘the boundaries’ of the other individual, from both sides. The effort to try, even when times are trying, and at times when it becomes unmanageable, filing a restraining order, is one solution. Hopefully this doesn’t get much uglier than that, and both individuals can find inner peace and a sense of mutual respect.
He has Bitter Old Man Syndrome. Many younger Nashville - based acts clamor to work with John. Younger artists no longer flock to Daryl's House anymore, the only ones playing at D's house are his contemporaries. It's also about money too. D has already sold some of his portion of their catalog and regrets it now, especially since John's portion is a lot more valuable now. John has things that Daryl has never had. A lovely wife of going on 30 years, a handsome, brilliant son, a strong extended family, and a post H & O career that's way more successful than the casual fan is aware of.
Sara Smile... Regardless of their struggles relationally they left that masterpiece that I always remember my late wife by. I always get misty eyed and feel her touching my heart when I hear that song. Prayers to those guys' partnership and relationship.
Daryl HOLE has been getting his ass kissed for too long. There are plenty of great voices that never get recorded, but Daryl admitted, himself, before all this recent nonsense, that John wrote ALL the duo's #1 hits 🤷♂️
Seriously?! I love the music that they made. Why can't everyone just get along? I saw John Oates play with guitarist, Guthrie Trapp, and he was phenomenal. I've watched every episode of Daryl's House and its magical! They're great solo and amazing together ❤️ Why can't they just get along and tour together? In an interview Daryl said that John was not his collaborative (or creative) partner but his business partner. I don't think there's any reconciliation between them now!

Met them both years ago backstage. John and his parents were absolutely lovely. Daryl was an absolute prick...have never forgotten that.
