The late 90s and early 2000s were the golden years for the NFL.
I didn't realize how great of a game this was this should have been one of the top 100 games ever
Bad refs handed this to the doe's
@@crash9632lmao no such thing as a female goat called a Doe 😂. That's a Deer
It was the best game I’ve ever seen to this day
@@crash9632Just like refs handed nfc championship game to the rams year before 🤷🏻♂️
Definitely a Monday Night Classic. Greatest show on turf versus that incredible Bucs defense.
The battles between the Rams, Bucs and Eagles for about five seasons were amazing.
Yes it was.
You can throw Atlanta in there low-key
Could prob throw Green Bay in there too, at least for the classic Sapp/Favre matchup
Yes it was I miss them days
And Steelers vs Ravens
If the Buccaneers had a decent enough offense during the late 90s and early 2000s, they would’ve been a dynasty with that spectacular defense
Unfortunately Brad Johnson was just a decent QB at best. Just goes to show how disgusting the Bucs defense was to be able to have Johnson as a "game manager" and STILL make him look good lol. Alstott Keyshawn etc they HAD the offensive talent but you plug in a more consistent Quarterback and you got yourself multiple rings, easily!!
@@wessteinfeld3337 22 tds 6 ints in theud super bowl year 3k yards. Perfect average srars needed for that bucs defense at least it wasn't sorry ass trent dilfer and tbh its the bucs fault. The never even drafted a 1st round qb at any point during these years.
@@scizorbullet8185 Also was a two time pro bowl QB. Brad Johnson was one of the most underrated QB's on a Super Bowl team ever, IMO. Much. much better than other QB's like Mark Rypien.
You could say that about a lot of teams.
@Lyric Augustus I hacked her punnani. Whata peach
When Marshall Faulk was the best player on the planet!!! classic football 🔥💯
4 tds in a game,4 different times that season just incredible
My one complaint about Faulk... that he left Indy
Idc what anybody says Faulk was the best rb ever
He better have had the best dentist on the planet after the hit John Lynch put on him in this game.
@@drewberrynews3875 best thing he ever done .
Nobody:
Absolutely nobody:
Some guy in the booth after every pass: GAWWWNNNNNN
Someone yelled that a lot during games back then. I wonder if it was a game production signal back to the truck ?
If no one said nothing, why bother?
I grew up in Tampa, I’ve been a Bucs fan my entire life, and I would pay a shocking amount of money for a copy of this game with that guy yelling GAWWWNNNNNN edited out
it was the buccaneers radio announcer
@@elijahswann9992 Nope, I’ve been in the Ray Jay press box, the radio and TV teams all work in separate booths
Lmao the random loud voice is getting me
I know. It’s hilarious.🤣
Both 28s, Faulk and Dunn were spectacular in this game! Kind of fitting that the Bucs 'D' started and ended the game with an interception.
Both from the great state of Louisiana.
Horns Up!
Watching this game just shows you how differently the game is played now. Miss this type of football. The product in NFL is still good but this is like peak NFL football right here !
Football is fake now
This game was a classic. Had everything you could ask for. Miss the bucs jerseys most of all
Why? They have them back this year. Only the font, flags and ships are updated from 2014...
@@supakewlryan Thank God they changed back to these babies. Same as the Browns. It seems like Nike fucks up everything they touch lol
They are back

Hell of a game. That lateral pass back to King was sick.
Imagine that 2000 Rams offense if Warner didn’t get hurt, they were literally putting up video game numbers
And if they kept Dick Vermeil. Martz was a putz.
They were a bit of an enigma. The 2000 Rams, unlike the 1999 and 2001 versions had a terrible defense, which is why they were worse overall. But at the same time, the Rams turned it over a ton. They even led the league in offensive turnover percentage in 2001, yet still went 14-2.
@@LukeR.5117 Like Old Times Right Sir?
Imagine if the refs don't rig the game and give the Rams a W in the 1999 NFC Championship - then the Bucs are in the SB and win, and the Rams are footnotes. I guess it pays to get those checks to the refs early.
Yup. It was like watching Madden on live television.
Two teams that not only had a great amount of talent, but also tremendous personality. Quite a cast of characters on both sides.
Who on St. Louis had personality?
@@mjf2891Holt, Horne, Carter and Azir Hakeem
Nothing wrong with it it's awesome
Man you could tell the crowd was loud when they started off the game with a interception
I was at that game, and it was the craziest most rowdy crowd I've ever been a part of. Was so much fun, was so ridiculously loud and electric all night. It's remarkable how much more tame crowds are now, even with the Bucs winning, they don't get anywhere close to this kind of energy anymore. I think it all has to do with cell phone cameras and everything knowing they're constantly being recorded, so you get less people just going nuts like you had then.
This is one of my favorite Monday night games of all time. I recorded this on my vhs. I literally know every play called in this game. That's how many times I've watched it.
There were massive collisions all over the place. Especially Lynch and Faulk. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I was at this game, the crowd was insane. It's amazing how lively and loud and rowdy crowds were in the late 90s and the very early 2000s. Anyways this game has always been my favorite regular season game, easily. Just a super exciting, hard hitting, fun game.
There were a ridiculous number of amazing Monday Night Football games in 2000.
You've got this one, the Jets comeback against the Dolphins, Antonio Freeman's catch, the incredible Broncos/Rams opener, and a bunch of other great games decided by one possession
Those rams uniforms are my favorites.
The uniforms and color scheme were mad underrated. They should've kept the gold pants. The navy and white pants they eventually adopted took off the luster imo.
@@jditrev it definitely fit their Greatest Show on Turf motto
That lateral to King shouldn’t have worked. 😂
I was a young middleschool Tampa Bay fan when I watched this game live. It's been 20 years since I've seen anything from this game and I still remember every big, dramatic turningpoint, big time Keyshawn catch, lucky breaks...ect. I know as a kid I didn't brag to my friends nearly enough about Warrick Dunns performance in this game.
ALWAYS a nice treat to enjoy a classic throwback game as an appetizer for tonight!! Extremely appreciated!!
Rams were the most exciting team in football that year as a neutral. Led the league in points, and finished dead last in points allowed.
Every game was a good, old-fashioned shootout
Just like the chiefs
Ricky proehl the jim leyritz of nfl players during this era for those who know baseball hisrory
The mark of an indoor team built on speed. The Minnesota Vikings had the same issues where they would score a ton of points, but couldn't stop anyone on defense.
The Pats had theyre number and other teams as well by playing completely physical
This is one of the most underrated games ever
So many Hall of Famers in this game
St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams-🏈
NFC West (1970 - present)
vs.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers-🏈
AFC West (1976)
NFC Central (1977 - 2001)
NFC South (2002 - present)
One of the best games of this century💯
The memories! love this channel
Hell ya and the iron bowl is this week also speaking of classics
The commentary was wild and funny 😂😂😂 I miss these days so much
No way. Al Michaels was terrific per usual, but Dan Fouts and the other guy were terrible. I'm always stunned when people criticize modern commentary crews and praise past ones like this.
@Luke R. That’s because nowadays they aren’t in on the joke. Like hiring Dennis Miller was meant to be somewhat silly and goofy. But today they try to be serious but hire goons like Booger and you’re no longer laughing with them, but at them.
I loved king and dunn. Class acts
mike alstott was elite and the best fullback to ever play the game
Most overrated player ever to play football.
he was a much better halfback. when they moved him to fullback, he became much less effective
Um Jim Brown has something to say about that 😂
I love Alstott, but he's not the best ever. He was definitely a blast to watch play though. It was a sad day when he had to retire.
Warrick Dunn wasn’t used right a lot of the time in tampa. The man balled out and you bring up Alstotr🤔
I was at this game - by far the best game I've ever seen. The crowd as insane. The game was insane. The hitting was insane. There's a reason this has been repeatedly placed on the list of the best MNF games ever.
Greatest regular season NFL game I've ever seen!!!
That 4 year stretch between 1999 and 2002 had the Rams/Bucs dueling every year. Bucs won every game except the 1999 NFC Championship, which of course was controversial due to that Bert Emanuel non-catch. All of the games were good. BTW, it's still amazing to me that the 1999 Rams had one of the better defenses in the league, but with pretty much the same roster plummeted to the bottom the very next season. They had a harder schedule, but they just looked like a completely different unit. The play in this game at 20:24 was essentially a microcosm of how bad they were.
I watched a video about the 1999 Rams and the key members of their defense (Kevin Carter, Todd Lyght, D’Marco Farr and Keith Lyle) loved playing for Dick Vermeil. Mike Martz replacing him blew a hole in their chemistry. Plus Carter was unhappy about an unresolved contract dispute. Then the next year was a great turnaround. They hired Lovie Smith straight from the Buccaneers to be their new defensive coordinator. They signed Aeneas Williams as a free agent and then used all three first round draft picks (two of them acquired for Carter and Trent Green) on defense.
Theres sooo many hall of famers on the field its ridiculous
NFL throwback please tell the nfl that he title man needs a raise
I’ll let him know haha
@Keith Cousins weirdo.
@@NFLVault You are so cool sir
@Keith Cousins Yeah Sir
The best game I ever attended. I went through every emotion possible at differing parts of this game. The 3-0 game against the Chiefs in a monsoon was another one
That pitch, 20:38 .... Is my favorite ALL TIME play by the Bucs. Joe Jurevicious tipped-turnaround-diving catch against the eagles, Barbers pick 6 NFCC game, A-trains run against the Browns, Godwins catch against the Pack this previous year, and a few others... That Dunn pitch showed great awareness followed by Kings run like he was being chased by hyenas, is #1 to me!
I miss Mike Alstott’s power running abilities in this league!!
I will NEVER forgive Jon Gruden for wasting his talents after Dungy got fired. Gruden had such a huge ego that he tried to force Alstott to be a one dimensional H-Back instead of using him as a runner, blocker, and receiver.
ALSTOTT UP THE GUT!!!
Most overrated player in NFL history.
@@lougiacobbi725 Go lay down you old fleabag.
Lou Giacobbi just another jealous hater
The 2000 Rams were the first team to lead the league in scoring and be dead last in total defense. They literally had to outscore their opponents and their own defense each week.
The 2011 packers broke that record i believe when rodgers was 15 and 1 look it up
Technically every team has to outscore their opponents to win :P but yes I know what you mean. As a Cowboys fan, I think of the 2013 team which had a great offense and an absolutely awful defense. They lost a game 51-48 to Denver that year.
What a game!
Shaun king had one of his best games as a starter
Ahhh the rematch of the 1999 NFC Championship Game
Imagine if Johnson and the Bucs went against Brady and the Pats in a Super Bowl
The Patriots would've gotten demolished. Bucs 23 Pats 12. They really had no offense from 01 - 03.
FINALLY, LOVE THIS GAME
Probably one of the bucs finest moments,
because of the revenge factor
Dunn and Faulk showed their greatness
As a life long Bucs fan.... Faulk was AMAZING!!!!!! Go Bucs!
Best MNF game ever. Bar none. And sadly, that type of drama doesn't exist on MNF anymore. My solution: Move MNF back to ABC and have the SNF game on cable. And have The Fall Guy precede MNF.
SNF isn’t going to cable TV. It’s staying on NBC
@Jackson Scott Oh no, I don't discount the fact there have been some damn good games it's just that the "epic" feel of MNF is gone and has been gone for several years. The games where a low-key party. It was your reward for slogging through another Monday. Jon Gruden made the games fun again but he's back to coaching now.
The feel, the fun-ness, the excitement, the atmosphere, etc... just isn't there and it hasn't been there in a long time. That electricity I felt in the air during the Bucs/Vikings 1999 game was something I still feel. Now ? It's a Meh thing.
@@TheJShield Yeah, but don't you think the NBC broadcast and game presentation pales to the show that ESPN put on back then ? I like Al Michaels but Mike Patrick and Joe Theismann were made for SNF and the TNT games were equally great. The NBC games are kinda depressing.
Need the antonio freeman game still thats close
My question is why do ANY games need to be on cable? ESPN is absolutely horrendous and I want them to get out of doing NFL games. I think it would be great if CBS, Fox, and NBC kept doing their thing and if ABC joined the mix (if anything, ESPN can get TNF because Fox does not seem extremely committed to it). The thing is that good games would get crowded out but this would be a lot better than having ESPN’s shitty MNF.
I just stumbled upon this video… this game was sick!
9:57 still remember that tackle
Warrick Dunn and Warren Sapp are beasts !
Imagine having Gruden's offense and Dungy's defense on the same team. That's a potential dynasty 🤯
Um, that was the 2002 Super Bowl year.
One of my favorite games of all-time.
2000 Rams offense + 2000 Bucs defense = GOAT team
2000 Bucs offense + 2000 Rams defense = 1-15
Warrick dunn was underrated
Mike alstott was the fullback that can score the touchdown.
Thanks for the classic nfl throwback and speaking of classics its iron bowl week!
One of the best games of all times!!
God, it seems like just last night. I still have the same cat, too, that sat on my lap watching the game with me all these years later. He's an old man but he's still with us.
There are EIGHT Hall of Famers in this game. All four for the Rams are on offense, all four for the Bucs were on defense. Orlando Pace, Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Issac Bruce, Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, John Lynch, and Ronde Barber. When the Rams O and the Buds D was on the field, you could argue it really was the best vs. the best.
Monday Night Football in 2000 was ridiculous. This game, the Vikes Packers “He did WHAT?” game, and the Dolphins Jets 4th quarter comeback game. All classics.
Warrick Dunn vs Marshall Faulk. Great running back matchup between the two number 28s.
This was a classic
Jesus, that game was nuts
Crazy part about this matchup between 2 Super Bowl championship teams is that the Rams, known for their unstoppable offense, won the 11-6 game the previous year, while the Bucs, known for their immovable defense, win the 38-35 game this time around. You would think it would have been the opposite.
That was definitely one of the greatest games I have ever seen. Pure football greatness on display there. No bad calls by the refs, which makes games like these so much better when you let these men play hard and hit hard
I forgot how exciting this game was.
One of the best Monday Night games I've ever seen!
Back when MNF meant something!
Thank god Tom Brady is still nostalgia.
When Monday night football used to mean something. I mean back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s I used to love Monday night and there were plenty of games that were beyond great.
Man that looked like some fun on the boat 😂💯🏈
The Bucs defense and the Rams offense had all-pros and hall of fame players all over the place.
Man the Rams used to be my team. Had a Bruce and a Faulk jersey(the gold one). I need to start collecting my jerseys again
I had Bruce Faulk and Warner. When they left to la I donated them to goodwill
this may have been the greatest game i’ve ever seen...wow
Crazy how different the game is now no where near as physical pass defence now great game tho and why is the colour commentator yelling gone every time the bucs threw downfield
I remember this game. Classic!
9:05 Dennis Miller's Keyshawn/Wayne Chrebet joke is underrated haha
Fro me the damn ball!
Awesome 👌 Monday Night Football game. I remembered watching 👀 this whole game.
Rams would get hexed in New Orleans in the playoffs while the Bucs would get demolished by the Eagles.
And that would happen again in 2001
Yeah those early 2000’s eagles teams sure have a lot to show for it
@@mjwatts1983 and then 2002 came around
Dunn was running like Barry that night
9:54 is quite literally an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object
Although we lost, I still think this was one of the greatest Monday Night games ever. Go Rams!
What a game!!
That game was wild Shawn King played his guts out
I miss the early 2000's. When they discover time travel I'm turning my Ford Expedition into a time machine. Y'all are welcome to come with me, but keep in mind my trucks only seats 9.
I remember this game!!!!!
This was the best game I ever saw
7:32. This is why Sapp is my all-time favorite DT. He was a monster.
18:45 would've been a flag in today's game no doubt
This game is one of the best I never seen
That's awesome
One of the best games I’ve ever watched. I remember watching this game like it was yesterday. Me and my brother in law are both Buccs fans. I had bet someone at work 50 bucks on this game.lol But we had such a good time watching this and it being a really good game.
You can make an argument that this was the greatest offense vs the greatest defense in the history of the game
One of the best Buccaneers that had a dominant defense 🏈💯
2:51 sums up the 2000 Presidential election 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love the shot of Sapp kneeling down after Lynch's INT to seal it
Now this is football. Hard, rough, and smash mouth. Not a fan of neither but I miss these days
That was a great game
I never understood how the rams defense went down hill so fast..The previous superbowl year the defense finish the year top 5 in the league..This year they were damn near dead last in everything which is part of the reason they didnt repeat.
Crazy
I was at this game with Leslie Peters Halfway House, i was in the endzone wearing a yellow Glazer Family Foundation short, before the game we got to go into the stadium and meet the cheerleaders, and then go onto the field to take a photo for the Tampa Tribune. It was pretty wild that night!
