For what it's worth, have had this machine working in our kitchen for 2 months now, no significant complaints but a few frustrations... Before I whine, I have to say we love, love , love the quiet operation, the stemware holders (no load in our house doesn't have a few wineglasses) and operational flexibility. That said...
    - After 2 months I FINALLY(!) figured out how to get the machine to start when I close it...after 3rd careful reading of the manual. Been working in technology for 30+ years and nobody, including yours truly, wants to read the freakin manual for ANY products. Miele needs to revisit how they approach documentation. Maybe a quick start one pager like just about every other tech product out there. Of course this is just a dishwasher that they've tried to turn into a moderately smart tech device. Might be a case of gilding the lily.
    - Problem was their set start time function which, once used, seems to want to always be used until you delete prior settings. So much for checking out the controls on your new, not-inexpensive dishwasher. So a function that is marginally useful (can't really think of a use case where I would need it???) Anyway, we discovered that you can delete the start time setting with a handy trash can icon, then voila dishwasher starts after setting a program, loading and closing the door.
    - Then there's the annoying OK dialog (button) that must be pressed to go to the next step at certain (random?) setting actions. In software, we call this sort of user-required action modal and it is to be avoided whenever possible. I'm sure Miele sees it as a verification step to make sure you actually intended to change a setting. We're just doing the dishes here, not launching an ICBM, so I look forward to the day they can lose the OK dialog. It's just annoying and I'm sad to report it's omnipresent on my otherwise fantastic Miele double oven with steam injection.
    - Other than those 2 big pains, we're still learning how to best load our typical batch of dishes most efficiently. Plates, utensils and stemware, no issues at our typical 2-day quantities. Soup bowls are a bit more challenging even with the limited fold-down tine real estate on the middle rack. Surprisingly, plastic storage containers and lids are maybe the most challenging. Haven't really thought hard about why. Just seems like they're always awkward to load into snug, secure roosts. I don't remember this being an issue on the Bosch's we had in this kitchen in the receding 20+ years.
It's a nice, quiet dishwasher that does what it's supposed to do. Glassware comes out sparkling clean, not a small deal. It also notifies my phone when the dishes are clean (yawn) and will let me start the machine remotely (snore). If I was using AutoDOS (still using up a bucket of pre-measured doses) it would remind me when I need to re-order or (maybe? not sure) order for me (God forbid). Not sure how wi-fi connectivity adds to its basic usefulness in a meaningful way. A gratuitous add-on so Miele can feel it's in with the in crowd? No matter, the dishes are clean and it's time to go dirty a few.

Fantastic videos, Joseph. I was just searching for fridges and ended up watching many of your other videos, they are really detailed and informative, unlike many of the shorter "review" videos out there that look like commercials.

I wanted a freestanding dishwasher so got Miele top of the range G7600SC. I would have liked the M touch display and the vase holder isn't included in the rack on my model. They should include all the features on the top of the line Freestanding model.😤

Is it possible to use a handle on the door to open this model? I'd like to re-use the door panel (with handle) for an older Miele model: g843scvi. The issue is there needs to be latch mechanism in the door that unlocks the dishwasher when the handle is pulled. Many thanks

Are we talking about a custom front or a Stainless Miele front? If your talking about a custom front on the G843 you absolutely can reuse it on this dishwasher. The mechanism you’re describing is part of the dishwasher not the panel and handle. Once the bracket is removed from your existing custom front you’ll get an updated bracket (and clips) with the new dishwasher. If you’re trying to reuse an older stainless panel kit then it probably won’t work on the new dishwasher. Or it least it won’t work without a little know-how and creativity. Miele does make newer GFVi stainless panel kits (with handles) that are comparable with this model as well.

@@appliancesexplained Many thanks for writing back so quickly. I'd like to re-use a custom front, not stainless -- it's basically a wood panel with a handle/towel rack. So if I install this custom panel (after replacing the bracket), I'll be able to open both the G7966SCVi and G7566SCVISF just by tugging on the handle? Many thanks

👍 - I obviously wrote my comment before seeing this video... 🤷 Did Miele pay you any money back for the machine having a failure? How much would have been the repair's cost? Maybe you can get some tricks out of this: czcams.com/video/YYBgxb3CLQw/video.html

Our fully integrated Miele dishwasher stopped working and Miele wanted almost 1k to fix it. I expect that the machine should
last a lot longer. The reputation and quality for lasting 20 years is obviously false advertising and a bunch of baloney. You can’t get any deals on new machines and only Miele can fix them at absorbent prices. Very unhappy with their product and attitude

Does it come with a 5 year warranty? The G7966 and G7916?
