It’s very rare to find some old clocks and watch repairing stores in Kolkata now.But if you are looking for some old clock and watch repairing store to experience some mesmerising clocks and watches,then must visit this place once.
It was established in the year 1880 by Bholanath das in College Street area.
The current owner mr.Gopal chandra das told me that after him the store will completely close.
You will find some terrific clocks and watches which will peek you attention in this 140years old store.

Repairing আর Restoration দুটো সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা। হাজার অভিঞ্জতা থাকলেও spare parts না পাওয়া গেলে ঘড়ি মৃত অবস্থায় পড়ে থাকবে । এখন repairing যদিবা করা গেল, Restoration অসম্ভব । কারণ ঐ সংক্রান্ত যন্ত্রপাতি বা infrastructure ভারতে নেই, কোনও মিস্ত্রীও নেই। দোকানের ঘড়ি গুলি লক্ষ্য করলে দেখবেন ঘড়ি গুলি কোনও রকমে চালাতে পারলেও, বহিরাঙ্গ অসুন্দর। 400 days যে ঘড়ি দুটি দেখালেন সে দুটির বাহিরের মীনা কাজ খারাপ হয়ে গেছে, full glass cover missing. এঁদের দ্বারা ঘড়িকে original condition এ নিয়ে যাওয়া সম্ভব নয়। আমি দেখেছি বিদেশে এই রকম antique damaged ঘড়িকে original condition এ নিয়ে যেতে।

এটা খুব দুঃখজনক, এরকম কত প্রতিষ্ঠান কলকাতার বুক থেকে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে। ভোলানাথ বাবু অত্যন্ত ভদ্র মার্জিত মানুষ। ঈশ্বর ওনাকে দীর্ঘ সুস্থ জীবন দান করুন। ওনার একমাত্র পুত্রকে আমার অনুরোধ এ প্রতিষ্ঠান যাতে বন্ধ না হয় সে চেষ্টা যদি করা যায়!

Sadly, there is not 1 clock that is of immense collectors' value. May be the Anniversary Clocks and the regulator but they're all in a pathetic condition. The shop is on it's last leg, and that's sad!
However there are major clock collectors in Calcutta and there are people in the city who can RESTORE clocks, apart from mere repair jobs. They are a dying community too, as clock collection is an expensive hobby, and they too are few in number.

সরাসরি চলে যান। আমহার্স্ট স্ট্রীট আর মহাত্মা গান্ধী রোডের ক্রসিংয়ে দোকান। উনি ১১ টা থেকে ২ টো ২:৩০ পর্যন্ত দোকানে থাকেন। তারপর আবার সন্ধ্যা বেলায়।
