Billiken originated as a god of happiness that American female artist Florence Pretz saw in a dream in 1908. It is a naked statue with a pointed head, raised eyebrows, and a halo on its back that resembles that of a Buddha. It was believed that carrying it would bring good fortune, and it became popular all over the world. This lucky mascot, which was a huge hit around the world at the time, spread all the way to Shinsekai, a downtown area in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, where it is enshrined in a tower called Tsutenkaku and is still loved as a god for the common people. Although he is a god, the locals affectionately call him "Billiken-San."
-"San" is the Japanese equivalent of "Mr." or "Mrs." 🤗
Also, it is said that "if you stroke the soles of Billiken's feet, you will be happy," so the soles of his feet sparkle after many people have touched them 😂
The name is said to have come from the nickname "Billy" of William Howard Taft, the President at the time, with the suffix "-ken" added, which means small.
The rapper, R-Shitei, is from Osaka Prefecture, and the entire video was shot in Osaka.😀
