@THE ZOLDICS keep laughing NO FACTS zoldwhatever - - The Bengal presidency was the largest colonial subdivision of British India, with its capital
in Calcutta. The population in Bengal was already stressed before the events of the Second World War. Population had grown but agriculture was stagnant. Agriculture was not modernized,
depending upon regular monsoon rainfall, for example, rather than controlled irrigation,
and the land productivity was among the lowest in the world. In the 20th century
the province had become dependent upon imports of food, mostly rice from Burma,
for a small but necessary part of its diet. In the face of shortage, consumption had decreased,
and by the 1930s, the diet in Bengal was estimated to be amongst the least nutritious
in the world. Simply put the population lived on subsistence, at the very edge of starvation.
While most previous famines have been caused by drought, the climate effect on the crop in 1942
was rain. A particularly long rainy season had resulted an extreme fungal growth during critical
stages of the rice growth cycle, a cyclone, and multiple storm surges, further destroyed
crops and spread the mold spores, as well as destroying food storage, killing thousands and
leaving thousands more homeless. The famine was directly impacted by war, the Japanese conquest of Burma in 1942 had caused
a flood of refugees, further stressing food supply and infrastructure, while the Japanese
prevented the importation of rice from Burma. In fear of a Japanese invasion the British
confiscated or destroyed small boats that could be used by the Japanese to invade, taking away
the primary method by which food was distributed in Bengal. The arrival of thousands of soldiers,
for whom resources were prioritized, further stressed the supply. And things like new military
construction and the Japanese bombing raid on Calcutta caused market uncertainty, price shocks,
and inflation. The death came in two great waves, first was the starvation, and then the disease.
Starvation was the biggest killer in 1942, but was overtaken by malaria, It was the biggest killer but there was also cholera, smallpox, dysentery,

@THE ZOLDICS Don’t forget the nationwide railway infrastructure was built to ship raw materials for the British industrial revolution from the Indian hinterlands to the ports and to quickly move troops to brutally suppress/quell an 1857-like unrest.
On top of it, it was built on Indian taxpayers’ money with British investors in London stock exchange earning all the profits for 20 years. Hence it was nothing else than a tool to facilitate their loot and plunder. As soon as the loot purpose was served, was it then used as means of transport primarily for the British but not for the Indians. Only the British had the privilege to travel first class but not the Indians. On several occasions, the white man travelled in an empty first class coaches while Indians were packed like cattle in second and third class coaches.

I thought the Naxalites are tribals. Why the menace of Naxalites ? Ten times more innocent protestors have died due to Govt firing than Jalianwala Bagh in the last 75 years.
Canada, Australia and New Zealand are still under the crown and millions of highly educated and uneducated Indians still seek to immigrate to above countries and the UK. Why ?
That 23% world exports India commanded was pre industrial era, when the world economy was still in Agricultural phase and India was a leader in agricultural economy because all countries used the plough and the bullocks in the field. The Combines changed all that. India is catching up, albeit slowly. In innovation index, India rank is lowly 48. There is no world shaking invention from India which has taken the world by storm. India has been leading in spirituality, yoga, etc, and it still captures the world imagination, not material science. In all industrial goods manufacture, India is an also ran country. @die wahrheit ist I agree. The British colonialist tried to industrialise and bring about development in their own interest and generally for all. They did not destroy temples or mosques. Archeological Society of India was an institution started by the British to preserve the past glory of India. After all, even today developed nations like Australia, Canada and New Zealand still revere the British crown and have the British Monarch's picture on their currency notes. The Monarch is their first citizen and there is no bitterness. Neither are Hong Kong or Singapore terribly bitter. They are doing well, though they are city states.

That is how a major error has never been corrected to this day where Natives of Americans are identified as Indians. They are not and never were Indians.
WHY were all these countries trying to get to India? Was it because it was a shit hole? What I feel is, education and schools were not in the interest of the British. It was the interest of the missionaries from Canada and USA (and a few other countries). I agree one good thing British did was to allow them, but definitely British did not have the interest to provide education to Indians. Even thought they might have done a little, that should be for their own use. The mainstream schools and education is from the missionaries(who are mostly not British)

The Supreme Court, the RBI, the SBI, central and state civil services, bicameral parliament and legislature, Democracy, etc etc. are all developed during British rule, and with their help.

Hey friend... I think u r assuming here... We were contributing a major part in world's economy before britishers came. That isn't possible without having a system or a group of systems. We had our system, our civilisation, our currency, our education system. Britishers colonised India and to make colony of their own... They had to destroy whatever we had of our own and they forced us to adapt in their system. They made laws to basically push us into stone age. Majority of Indian population didn't have any kind of access in that system..we were slaves. Their laws and policies were one of the major reasons for creating communal tension in India. Also as Tharoor sir said in his famous debate that the countries which were not rules by Britishers were able to developed railways and other systems. We had to start from scratch when we snatched our independence. In my opinion we were on a progressive track before British raj and if britishers would not invaded and ruled us for 200 years and robbed us from all the privileges, resources we would have been a superpower in world a long time ago.

Also, all the system that were in practice before British Raj, were monarchy and were based on religion. For instance, Mughal and Delhi sultanate was based on islamic system and before that hindu systems.
Also, for that worldpower dream, India wouldn't be the same as it is today if there wouldn't have been British rule. South India throughout history had been separated from North India.

Wherever they invaded they methodically demolished identities those countries had and preached them "how to live a life". Their way is only the superior way. And yes India would have been completely different from what today it is but as much as I can speculate India still would have been in a better place using all the resources privileges and the powerful place it was holding before British raj. I mean we were segregated in our own country. And for democracy i don't think to achieve democracy a country has to get colonised by Britain. Countries not colonised by Britain implemented democracy at certain point in their history whereas we had to pay a huge price for it. And we were slaves for 200 years... A huge time period to cultivate a new system and put it into default. Also just because we are still following certain systems or laws created by British raj we can't say that britishers were so good that whatever they made we are still following... No.. Neither those laws are that much perfect nor the britishers were so good in creating systems.... This is completely fault of our politicians. They just don't want to work. Britishers were here only to rob us and they did everything to do that as much as they can... Railways, prints, universities, education system, industries, everything... They created that only to sustain in this land... To hold the power on us... And to rob us.

Under caste system society is divided into 4 castes and a person ability is measured by his or her birth in a caste not on Worth and in it a Shudra cannot become a Brahmin no matter how talented or educated he is and a Brahmin is not considered a shudra no matter how vile, immoral or characterless he might be.

If we go by the religion, then the caste system was supposed to be based on karma, not on birth. Manusmriti as well as Geeta mentions this. Even Shashi Tharoor in his book mentioned how british made the caste system even more rigid when they introduced official surname register... Along with that, if you check out some early Sanskrit literature, many of the writers who wrote were from lower caste and we're accepted in the Brahim community because of their high intellect. Example- Bhasa. Shashi Tharoor also mentions how we had almost 80 Percentage literacy rate( local language and basic arithmetic) in Bengal before british came and many of these schools were systematically closed by British
This was reported by British themselves

India was filled with uncivilized cultures and traditions within its already existing civilization, eg: Casteism, manuwaad, Sati pratha etc etc..A handful few among British with a progressive mindset tried to do some good but British majorly caused exploitation and oppression of India. There's no debate there. But people like Tharoor are eager to hold British accountable but deliberately ignore the history of the Indian civilization and its crimes against untouchables and marginalized ones, its strange and bizzare justification for the same and the still prevalent attitude to defend and celebrate such outdated and bullshit culture and ideologies. If India wants to have a moral high ground, then this society needs to own up to its part in the culture of oppression and exploitation.
