In your reference to the GV, its first flight was in Nov 95 and entered service (SN507) in June 97. The Global Express fist flew in Oct 96, so it seems unlikely that it was certified and entry into service in Feb 97 ahead of the GV. Otherwise, excellent report!

Thanks so much for the info. I'm currently in the market for a G450, with low hours of ops., or a 2008 G550. Your channel has been very informative and helpful.

The airlines with their bigger planes, still reign supreme for range, which even the top of the line Gulfstream will have to add extra tanks in the cabin to match. We are still struggling with the "sound barrier" after 70 years. Jets only faster because they need less fuel stops. One of the reason why biz jet are not so popular in Asia is jets are only good for short planned trips, like several thousands miles and stay for 3 days. If the travel planes are unpredictable and subjected to change by the hour, the jet is useless. Plus they have a poor image nowadays. For maximum freedom, I would have preferred a mid size King Air or a Piaggio P180 with extra gas inside (Turtle Pack) Single pilot and I come and go as I please. For the rare urgent trips and if the king Air is down for maintenance, I can always fly fractional ownership.
