  • Benin City, the capital of Edo state in southern Nigeria, has a reputation as a center for human trafficking. Anyone wanting to leave the city will quickly find someone who can help. Everyone seems to know someone who can help young people get at least to Libya. But everyone also knows someone who has come back from a migrant camp in Libya or a brothel in Italy. DW's Edith Kimani talks to young people in Benin City to understand why many of them want to leave the city or even the country. Join the debate!

This is by far the best episode I have watched from the 77 percent. I am an international spoken word artist from Ghana addressing social issues on the continent and I would do this show in a heart beat!

Jeez, what a direction the interview took, though it still left the question on unanswered.
I enjoyed some point made, one from the lady that mentioned the ripple effect and the other gentleman that talked about the African mindset.
Amidst tying to find an answer i love the presenters introductory story.
I hope the follow-up documentaries on this will be made // maybe it has i just need to search it out.
Thanks for the work so far.

Great job Edith on the profiling of Human Trafficking Benin city is notorious for. Your audience demonstrated great knowledge of some of the solutions to the problem. However, one thing is certain; there is no one clear cut fix to this menace. Be that as it may, mental re-engineering and mindset development are two solutions that can't be overlooked. These two are the individual's responsibilities not the government's.

I believe and agree with the lady who has talked about ripple effect, we as youths are supposed to take up the social roles of the society and fix problems, depending on politicians is the killer of africa, We need to view politicians as just another employed individual and focus on fixing our own issues

@@DWThe77Percent First, we can start by creating a youth connect platform across africa, with the advancement in technology, we can create a platform where youths engage and talk, a platform we discuss solutions to problems and network to know what is happening and how things are being solved. I am a Tech guy and I am open to help in building such a platform .

5:44 the young lady made a point, but is on both sides, both the government and the people need to work together for the better of the society. the issue is what are you doing to hold your leaders accountable? by encouraging ourselves? i don't think so.
