House on the Slope with Serenity and Views to the Hills | LR2 House

The LR2 House, designed by the architectural firm Montalba Architects, pushes the boundaries of integration with the natural environment while offering a luxurious and functional space. Situated atop a hill overlooking Pasadena and its adjacent mountains, this 390 sqm house presents a unique approach to balancing privacy and transparency.
One of the main challenges of the project was preserving the integrity of the terrain, ensuring that the house fit harmoniously into the slope. Inspired by the concept of a "matchbox," the structure is composed of stacked volumes that adapt to the inclined terrain, each offering its own distinctive indoor/outdoor space.
The living spaces, such as the living room, dining room, and kitchen, are located on the third floor, in a suspended rectangular volume that extends outward from the main foundation of the house, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valley.
Outdoor corridors, balconies, patios, and covered walkways provide a unique experience, inviting residents to enjoy the outdoors while panoramic views of the house are gradually revealed along the way.
In addition to the living spaces, the LR2 House offers a variety of luxurious amenities, including guest suites, a home office, gym, and a private cinema screening room. Each space has been carefully designed to provide comfort, functionality, and a continuous connection to the surrounding landscape.
Upon entering the residence, visitors are greeted by an interior flooded with natural light, where soft wood and bright white finishes contrast with the angular concrete facade. The compression and expansion of space throughout the project provide a unique arrival experience.
