  • In this first ever "Rock the Vote," Christopher Jones sings about lowering the voting age to 14. His master plan? Becoming president then herding everyone over 21 into concentration camps to be fed LSD for the rest of their lives. Good idea. Yeah, that's Richard Pryor on drums.

I remember seeing this with my older cousins at the local theater (torn down in the 1970’s). They thought it was lame and stupid. I had popcorn and a coke so I was fine with it.

Filmed August 1967. Satire starring Christopher Jones. At the time the US voting age was 21, and the politician here played by Hal Holbrook wanted to make it 18, which it did in 1971. The song here refers to making it 14.

Max won all 50 states, with the single but remarkable exception of Hawaii. Barry Williams (Greg Brady) played the younger Max, in the scene right before the couch stabbing and burning, running away from home scene.

I know I’m a few years late, but Chris Jones actually did do the singing for most of the movie. (I read an interview with him a while back.) The only song I am pretty sure that he didn’t sing was The Shape of Things To Come and he didn’t sing on the album that was later released, either.
