    Remember it was 2 South Africans that went on the quest to find him and refused to let his legacy to music die because of unscrupulous leaches in his own country. Without the South African initiative this documentary would not exist. From the first word I ever heard Rodriquez sing I was hooked by his insight into life. It is something we as South Africans could and can still relate to. Peace to the world and thank you for this recognition.

    There are times when a story doesn't end with the rolling of the credits, but takes instead, an unfortunate twist which leads to an unthinkable loss... "Searching For Sugarman" is truly the mark and memory of Malik's time spent on earth and will be forever celebrated as one the greatest and most beautifully told stories of our lifetime, and for that we will never forget Malik's name, and for his gift of this wonderful documentary, we can never be thankful enough... May he rest in peace...

    Shame on the cutting of the acceptance speech. So many ramble on and on and say virtually nothing, but here they are just given the middle finger. NO respect for documentary filmmakers at all.

    • @liina000

      So fucking rude. Clearly these film makers aren't used to public speaking and are very nervous to accept the award, to that add the forced shuffling off the stage and you've got yourself an even more uncomfortable situation - both to be in and to look at.

      Search for life of pi winning best visual effects. That is disrespect.
      That company, as far as I know, was made to accept a budget too low, and went bankrupt after the film. When they started to talk about the problem of VFX studios in general, they played the jaws as well and turned off the mics.

    • @slybuster
      @slybuster Před 3 lety +1

      @@i6tir The Oscars used to be famous for running long (who would have thought that getting a bunch of narcissistic extroverts, whose entire existances revolve around holding the spotlight, to hand each other gold statues could get out of control?) The show kept getting longer and longer and for various reasons, including big financial ones, the producers sought to constrain the runtime. You might have noticed they used the theme from jaws; that was actually a joke meant to soften the blow of rushing people off. It wasn't a slight against the film makers (however, I'm sure the general public cares more about seeing Tom Cruise or whoever than they do about documentaries).

Good music good content in lyrics create awareness awaking of the mind. It help us humans to go true hard times and suffering. To fallow in love to feel good inspired. And to represent our culture in front of the world. Music can bring down tirany and oppression. And also help us to think and shape the mind of generations .but the criminals of business shut the voices of true to there own agendas.
