Kim is such a unique guitarist, his solos deserve more love
He reminds me of Tonni Iomi of Black Sabath. He doesn’t sound like him but his riff hooks and use of bends is similar. Many of the Thrash metal heads even love Kim’s approach and name him often as an influence

Love the Soundgarden reactions. This album had a very punk feel to it. Chris’s vocals were noticeably deeper and louder compared to the higher pitch vocals on previous albums.
So many grunge bands adored the punk side of the 70s and 80s, Dead Kennedy's, Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Clash, Bad Brains, Germs, I mean you name it. Early Soundgarden was filled with punk influenced heavy rock tunes.

I love the last track of this album, Bootcamp is such a great song.
Only problem with Bootcamp is that it’s way too short.
You're right on brother, 'Boot Camp' is one of thee most bittersweet and special songs Soundgarden ever wrote. And as everyone seems to agree it's sadly so short you really ache for more of it.
Wow, impressive score for this David. I was a fan of the DK's, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and many other punk rock bands and really like some Sex Pistol's songs. Of course this was before Soundgarden and Nirvana were known to me. This is what drew me to these bands, the blending of hard rock with a punk edge and attitude. I definitely get what you mean by this song being an homage to some pure punk. Loved your reaction/review and so glad you enjoyed it. I am going to listen to some of those bands now, it's been a while.✌
While I like the radio/video hits on this album, the deeper cuts are what made me revisit it for almost 30 years. Top Ten album for me.

Thought you might like this one. Love the energy in the song and the time change in the latter half. Score sounds just about right!
Soundgarden were on SST Records earlier in their career, so there's a direct connection with Black Flag there.

This is just one of those songs on such an underrated album that stands out because it is so exciting to hear this and air drum! Great score and a great song!

Hey, nice. Never knew you were a fan of the Dead Kennedys. They were probably the #1 punk band for me in my teen years. I even have a tattoo of their “DK” logo. I also used to own a “Nazi Punks F**k Off” / “Erase Racism” T-shirt. Wore that to an old job one night, but decided to don it backwards, since we wore vests, and the expletive would be covered. Otherwise, this was the final studio album Soundgarden recorded before finally breaking up. They were already some internal tensions by that point, which I’m sure goes on with a lot of bands. Then things came to a bit of a head on the tour they did in support of it. But it’s a pretty solid release.
Down on the Upside has a couple, or more, of punk(ish) songs on it.

Rollins inherited that sound from Dez, not all punk is Blach Flag and the Misfits, when were you last at Hot Topic? I know what I talk about, opened for SG and Rollins, Jack Endino produced our second release in 89

I’d really like your reactions to two Type O Negative songs that have punk/hardcore elements: “Kill All the White People” and “We Hate Everyone”. The first one has a slow midsection that has a heavy Sabbath vibe to it. The second has a pseudo eighties pop vibe in the middle. They’re probably my favorite songs on Bloody Kisses.
Black Sabbath influence is nasty
