"clarity"
I have had several sets of these pups, form 6 to 8 string, and this vid absolutely doesn't do them justice. Alex usually has a very thick and, most importantly, a clear tone.
They're not in a studio you know. They're in an interview room with a 40 watt bedroom amp.
Jimmy C Yeah, plugged into a bedroom amp. A kemper profiler doesn't actually have a built in speaker. It's like a plug in amp. It has the tones but not the sound. You gotta have a speaker for it.
I personally love the d activators, in both 6 and 7 string. I dunno why they don't sound so good here, because normally they are so brutal but clear. Their split coil tones are actually really good too
Have a set of these in my ibanez seven strings, am very happy with my tone
bit too much gain, makes it sound muddy as all hell
Not to much gain. Not enough wattage for the output of the pickups combined with to much bass.
yeah i sounds like an old radio, but its probably because the strings are so loose
emanuel cardenas That's very true. It's come to my attention that for that guitar, he uses a drop tuner and it's typically tuned to drop A. My guess is they didn't have it that day so they just tuned down.
A moderate amount of gain for the pinched harmonics.
*****
They did at one point. I spoke with their tech recently. They didn't in the studio, of course. But on some songs that were in drop A and they went back and forth from drop G and A they would use the pitch shifter to tune up.
So it's not specifically a drop tuner, just a pitch shifter.
I think any pickup its gonna sound muddy if you dial way too much gain...
Not really. They're using really tiny amps. Normally it's not that bad at all.
It will sound muddy no matter the wattage of your amps if you push the gain of the preamp way too much
So Myung Jung
Eh... Nooo not really. If it's gotta enough wattage it'll handle the extra push. Why do you think their studio work sounds good?
A. they're using their amp simulators to plug directly into a computer
B. Their live sound on tour sounds just fine (if not better) because they're using their own amps.
Maybe the tuning, or gain?? It sounds a little to....muddy at parts? Maybe its my ears. I listen to WC much, but this sounds to distorted to me.
whats up with the dislikes? Dimarzio rocks! Can't wait to hear the d-activators in my multiscale Jackson 8 string!
That first riff sounds familiar. I can't figure out what band has that pattern riff.
Dafuq is up with the dislikes?
The dislikes are for the dumb level of distortion, not DiMarzio
I just played this model guitar the other day and it sounds real good. Im not sure why he sounds like shit in the video but its a real punchy and solid guitar with pretty detailed pickups.
It's too heavy for hamsters, lol.
Wow. SO. MUCH. GAIN.
''I play for The Metal Band Whitechapel''
OH My GOD, did he just say White Chapel's a Metal band????????
Death core is a type of metal .
Yes. It is.
if it isnt, what it is? a lounge ensamble?
Kenny Ken they're more metal than any other genre
yep......i dont agree as well
