This scene to me was very heartbreaking. The silent marry crew were so happy to be free and they died it's just really upsetting to me because I never really thought of them as villains just people wanting pirates gone.

Films like this make you forget that you're spending most of your time rooting for bad guys. People may love Jack Sparrow and what-have-you, but pirates were ultimately horrible people. Salazar is ironically one of the only major characters in the PotC series who was genuinely a good guy.

ParadigmZwei much as I hate to disagree, the things that Salazar does as a character are understandable but not excusable. And I’m saying this as a huge fan of the character.
When alive, he ruthlessly killed people that surrendered and pleaded for clemency, and even though those people were pirates and therefore criminals, he gloated in killing them without pity or remorse. He also murdered people who haplessly wandered into the Devil’s Triangle simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Lord Zamasu I wouldn’t be so sure: Norrington, did, after all sail through a hurricane off the coast of Tripoli, which cost him his own crew and commission.
Salazar isn’t an ideal human being, but his perspective on piracy is somehow understandable, but at the same time, far from excusable. As for abandoning his crew, I’m not certain that he necessarily did, since at that point, at the bottom of the ocean, what could he do to save two dozen men? He was overcome with the need for revenge, too much so to notice much else.

      @CountTentacula Před 4 lety +9

Lord Zamasu Salazar never saw pirates as human, though, and spared no expense on removing them from the seas through whatever means he deemed necessary.
I’d say that given his high rank, Salazar’s ambitions to vanquish piracy from the seas and gradually eradicate it worldwide were dedicated both to his own blind devotion to avenging his father and grandfather, and to his loyalty to the Spanish crown.
But anyway, what good would it do anyone to remain at the bottom of the sea? He saw a means of finally ending the most powerful threat of piracy he knew of with the cruelest stroke.

So the claim here is that the trident was the source of power for all sea-related curses, with it destroyed, so are all the curses. We see that with Salazar and his crew & Will being free of the Dutchman. So how is Davey Jones “supposedly” back from the dead. I always thought Calypso was the source of Jones power, at least I thought that’s what the writers eluded to in Worlds End... Soooo, is Calypso stronger and more powerful than Poseidon? Did I miss anything as far as an explanation or are we hoping that the next pirates will feature Jones and explain? I saw this movie once when it first came out so I may be forgetting something.

nothing is supposed to make sense in this movie, its called the *all fish no barrel* of POTC.
the Poseidon Trident thing is completely made up when in reality it was more of a Merfolk (mermaids and sea creatures) controlling staff used by Poseidon.
it wasn't able to be broken since it was literally made by Hephaestus for Poseidon and and as far as curses go, it has no command over them.
and the thing about Davy Jones returning is not possible since Calypso has her own hold over him rather then him being cursed or something.
in then since Johnny Depp was fired by Disney and they were already planning a reboot of sorts years ago, nothing has been heard about it since.

@@vsGoliath96 no because that wasn’t really a curse was it. Wasn’t that just a job that needed to be done and given to him by calypso. Being captain of the Flying Dutchman was a job to bring the dead at sea over. But he wasn’t doing that job so that’s why he started turning. I still think somebody was needed to captain the Flying Dutchman since there are people who still die at see. So calypso probably brought him back to life and we’ve seen her bring back people to life. The things that’s confusing is how will got out of it. Because again it’s not a curse. They way I see will got out of being the captain was because the curse that was broken was the one being the one who kills Davy Jones has to take his place. So when will by jack stabbed his heart he had to take Davy Jones place but when the trident broke it broke that curse setting him free. The Flying Dutchman wasn't a curse; it was a service Calypso gave to Davey Jones to watch over those who died at sea and lead them to the afterlife. 10 years at sea for one day on land is unlike the Aztec gold curse from the first movie, where you needed the blood of someone who wasn't a part of the heist to break the curse. This would be considered an obedient service both people agree to do; Davey didn't read the fine print that Calypso had no intent of settling down with him, and every time he completed his ten years, he would be ghosted by a goddess on his only day on land.

so....some questions:.....jack and Barbosa seem to have a preexisting knowledge of the trident that can break all known curses of the sea, i mean, these guys have a deep knowledge of most if not all forms of pirate, sea or treasure related lore as far as we know, a trident that can break curses doesn't seem like one that would slip by all of their noses...LEAST of all perhaps people like Davey johns or anyone in his crew?
so my question is....why not go after THAT to solve the problems of the main trilogy? why would barbosa go to the trouble of finding hundreds if tiny individual coins they had traded away around that were spread god knows where and how far....instead of just going in search of the one item that could not only remove their curse but maybe even give them power over the seas as well?
why go through the trouble of finding a key and finding Davey's hidden chest to find his heart just to kill it so someone else can take over as his ships captain....instead of finding this one item that apparently could remove jones' powers to begin with? especially when 1 of the 2 items is hidden on johns' person at all times and the idea of sneaking on his ship, finding out where it is, and somehow stealing it off of his person and THEN find a means of escape seems WAY more convoluted than just finding some unprotected trident that you need to do some research on and sail to just to get

The sailors weren’t zombies, they were ghosts. But I know why they hated the curse: imagine being cut down in your prime for no reason, then being stuck in abject darkness for 30 years with no chance of escape. Then, the minute you get within even an inch of dry land, you crumble into dust and disappear into nothingness. I would hate that myself.

      Welp, better than nothing. Lol
As a Pirates of the Caribbean fanatic, I've watched this movie several times, and theorized that he was always the same Jack, it's just that he was at an all time low in his life, and he had that "what's the point anymore?" attitude. After all, he's probably well into his older years (Like 60 at least), so he doesn't have much time left on this Earth. Sure, in the first film, he lost the Pearl for 10 years, but he was still young and had time.
But that's just my theory to bring as much positivity into this... heinous movie. As much as I hate admitting it, this movie is definitely the worst of the five pirate films, and that's a saying something from a Pirates of the Caribbean super fan!
