Four of my fish died yesterday :( it was because my baby brother kept taking them out of the water and playing with them and squeezing them so now I’m getting new fish from a pond but hiding them until I get a tent that’s bigger than the other :)
Bird looked more like a Osprey. Osprey normally hunt fish as their main source of food sorry for you loss 😭

That bird is an osprey not an eagle, ospreys are a specialist fish hunter, they can take surprisingly large prey it's just part of nature they'll go for easiest prey and unfortunately that was your koi, not exactly sure best way to stop them but either way it's terrible news just stick at what you're doing and keep over coming the challenges you face 💪💪

Quick idea.... Build a pergola over the pond.... Will give shad some and will at the same time allow light to come in, but keep the ospreys out. As for the Blue Heron.... Would have to research it.

I have the same problem in the Uk a heron took £1000 worth of koi from my pond and all I did was put a bambo stake 1ft above the pond and connected nets above it and for 4 years i have had no casualties

That bird looked like it totally jacked itself up!! Thought it was way deeper, that's probably why it never ate that fish.. I've seen them pick the fish apart if it's too big for them to swallow hole. Really sucks you lost so many but that comes with the territory especially living in Florida predatory bird capital of the country!!
Gotta build a sweet pergola over that, and scape it real good. It would look sweet! And u get to keep ur fish!!
