Just purchased some Leatte body armour for summer and was always considering other armour for the legs. I'll have to check out what they've got.
Injuries really suck, they can put you down for a long time and then everything builds up on top of that, inability to work, cant ride etc, this all leads to all kinds of issues.

Thanks so much mate. Yea, I’ve seen first hand how a minor stack can lead to screws and plates in the knee. I think knee braces are a good investment.

Got into a similar crash last week with my CRF250R. Landed on my right hand on a rock, punctured through the skin and flesh but luckily no bone damage. Wish you a speedy recovery!

I feel ya. I had a wreck last week and severely sprained my right wrist and broke a rib. The wrist hurts way more than the rib. Stay safe.

The confidence will come back, but it may never be the same. If this is your first serious injury, from riding or any other activity, it could be one of those "mortality" moments as you age where you finally realize that you really can be seriously hurt to the point that it might never heal completely or at least take a very long time to heal. It sucks not to have that same confidence you might have had before that let you ride way to close to the edge without realizing it. However, that old confidence could have eventually led to a far worse injury. The memory of or persistence of the current pain will linger and always be in the back of your mind when riding. It is annoying at first, but in the end will likely make you a better rider in terms of staying away from the ragged edge and decreasing the changes of further and potentially more serious injuries. You will still have fun while riding, you will just ride smarter and be more careful about when and where you push the limits. I do hope it heals completely though. Persistent injuries REALLY suck!
Tell me about it, a car pulled out in front of me last week, and the next thing I know, I'm lying on the ground thinking the world's gone upside down.
The damage, a massively swollen knee and, as the surgeon who stitched it together said a burst ring finger.
Could I have been better protected, yes, no doubt. The summer weight gloves might have protected me from cuts and scrapes but the minimal padding didn't do anything to absorb the shock. And for the knee, well that's my own stupid fault for not slipping the knee protection in my jeans in my hurry not to be late.
At least they're was some good news, it wasn't my bike - although I'm not certain Livewire would agree, they now only have 49 pre-production Del Mars to demonstrate round the world.
For the kind of riding you do off-road that stuff is essential - for the commute across town, maybe a bit much, but always worth having some kind of armour. Enjoy Italy

Top tip for young riders, 9 times out of 10 you get hurt doing stupid low speed shit. And this proves doing monos on a public road to show off is one of those classic ways to get hurt and a lot of riders come unstuck doing it.

If you haven't done it, make sure you attend physical therapy for your wrist and continue to perform physical therapy at home between sessions. It will take time for your wrist to get back to 100%. But dont stop doing exercises at home. Ive been in two motorcycle accidents years ago and it took a lot of work, a lot of physical therapy on my shoulder to get me back to 100%.

You could definitely use it as a precaution, especially for when riding on trails. I wouldn’t bother when cruising around the city etc
