- Hello Everyone! I have decided in 2024 to not put too much pressure on myself when it comes to my reading. I don’t want to be stressed about any reading goals. So, I am going to read and enjoy myself. So, the 6 books I ready in January were all very good. Books that I cannot wait to tell you all about. So come take a look.

I like that your reading goals this year is focusing on interest not numbers. Reading is for joy not content! Hope you have a wonderful reading year! I truly enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much. And for sure. I am just reading and seeing where it takes me.
🖤💚
Total mood reader here. Always interested where this takes me each new year. Have beeen on a big comic book/grapic novel binge so far 📚
You know, I have a few graphic novels on my shelf the I have been meaning to get to - thank you for the inspiration.
I have Martyr on my shelf waiting. And I read Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop in February. I agree with your review. It was good to read about people figuring out their lives without drama.
Beautyland and Float Up Sing Down sound interesting; I'll check them out.
You have some great books right around the corner. So excited for you. Happy Reading.
Can’t watch one of your videos without adding to my wish list! This time it’s beautyland.
That is exactly what I like to hear! Happy Reading.
Geez I think I have to add all of these to my tbr eventually 😊
That is what I like to hear! Happy Reading my friend.
My kindle copy of Martyr just downloaded last night. I had it on pre order. I’ve only finished one book so far this month.
Stone Yard Devotional by Charolette Wood
It’s set in Australia 🇦🇺 n a convent. The narrator goes there on retreat. Great read. So good that I felt sure it would be on the Womens Prize/Stella.
I have read one Charolette Wood novel and really liked it. I should try to find more of her books over here in the US. Hope you enjoyed Martyr,.
Reading for interest is how I do things. Reading for vanity numbers is not my jam. I'm on the Count of Monte Cristo (a monster of a book, ~1200 pages), which most wouldn't read if numbers were a priority.
The books you shared are ones I hadn't heard of before. Thank you for putting a few more on my radar!
Totally agree - I have not read Monte Cristo since college. I am so glad I could add a few books to your TBR.
Best wishes with your reading choices. Happy reading.
You too! Happy Reading.
"Barnes and Noble...They're my local bookstore."
Amazon really has changed the landscape. A bit strange that I think of B&N as an underdog to be rooted for. Closest indie bookstore that sells new books is 22 miles away now. Anyway, nice to hear the Laird Hunt stories get some love.
I have to go at least 30 minutes or more to get to an indie bookstore. Barnes and Nobel has treated me well. And Hunt is amazing
Always such good recommendations!
Thank you.
Greetings from Singapore!
Finished reading "Welcome to Hyunam-Dong Bookshop where i thoroughly enjoyed! Shannon Tan who is the translator of this book is a Singaporean. We are proud of her.
Next on my tbr list is Martyr! I hope that our library is able to load this amazing book! Thanks for your excellent reviews, Russell ❤
Oh I am so glad to hear that. It is such a lovely book. I think we will be seeing more books translated by Tan coming out - she is so very very good.
Russell, I read calling a wolf a wolf by Kaveh Akbar, I think it was his debut great read.
That is his poetry collection right? One of my friends says it is his favorite ever.
I didn't love Beauty;and. I had a hard time engaging with Adina and overall this felt like a fictionalized version of Brainard's memoir, "I Remember." Lots of inreresting observations, but it didn't grab me overall.
I can see that. I think I saw a lot of myself in Adina and how I look at the world. So, that connection was there. But both she and I are odd birds LOL.
Has anyone read the book Steven Demogorgon?
Nope - I have not heard of them.
You shouldn't be stressed about reading goals. If you are, then you won't be enjoying this and if you're not having fun, then what's the point?
Totally agree.
