Elgin 2024 State Champions in Mario Kart

On Saturday April 27th, the IHSA eSports state finals were hosted by Evergreen Park.
Mario Kart 8 was in the lineup with 16 teams picking a lane. Normal West fell in the third round to Elgin (142 to 92) but they would make their way back earning a spot in the finals. There they would rematch Elgin, which they won their first game (126 to 108). Coach Keathley gave the Maroons a pep talk which reset them. Each race flipped back and forth, giving each team a slight advantage. In the final race, Renvon made his way through DK Jungle securing the win for Elgin 119 to 115.
