Why is the Amplitude 16 waaay less expensive than the 8? And what if I upgraded to the Altitude 16 but kept my Anthem MCA 525 Amps??

I know this can handle up to 20 total channels with the external DAC options but I can’t find anywhere if it’s 16 channels total or 16.1? I’m other words could I do a 9.4.7 system utilizing all 16 channels in the Amplitude and 4 subs or is it limited to 15.1 with multiple subs?
