I’m assuming you need to enable “iCloud Photos” in your iCloud preferences. Should be noted. I don’t have that option to share via iCloud in the menu options until I check that option on. I have it turned off because I don’t want to automatically upload my photos into the cloud.
Hello Eric, I agree, and that’s the risk I’m taking. I’ll simply make a copy of the hard drive as a back up. I prefer to have copies on my own drives in my own hands rather than on Apples’ servers. Call me old fashioned, I know, but....

I just tested this and it works. Last night I had to pick up my wife from the airport but a complex car crash blocked the road. So I took a video of the crash so she would understand why I was late. I just sent this video following your step via text message. She watched it on her phone. Thanks for the tip. Gary from Michigan 🚂

you are a sanity saver I was ready to give up and never video anything, I'm a stills photographer and for the life of me could not work out how to send what was obviously way to large a file. Once again top explanation and clearly explained

When I’m loading like 10 pictures by email it always asks me what size I want to send small, medium, large. Which is the appropriate one that I should select? I haven’t done this by video through email it seemed when I tried it was to large. Would I need to load the video the same by size or doing it this method would not be a concern? That was great info. My friend works for a local news outlet and does footage for them. He was trying to get footage of new terminal at the airport. I work there and can get shots from ramp side of gates. I had sent him as a joke my little video of flights through a text message awhile back. just sent one a you showed and he immediately said that file was great and ask if he could send to tv channel to use. Very cool. You are the man.

I just tried to send a 28 second video in an email and it’s too large. My pictures that use to be kb are now mb, my emails keep using my name instead of my email address. These “smart” phones are defeating my purpose!
It would be great if you would give steps to save the video to a PC. I did it by sending the link via email, I opened the link and a browser opened with a Download icon. I downloaded it and found it in my Downloads folder on my PC where I could rename it and move it as desired.

Following your instructions, when I click on the option, "copy iCloud link", I see that a link is being created, but don’t know where the link is placed. I’ve tried starting by opening the message window, then navigating to photos, but the same options don’t show. Also, I’ve looked in "files" (iCloud Drive) but can’t find the link. Where is the link saved ( using iPad)? I have not tried on my his method on my MacBook Air yet. I use my iPad for just about everything nowadays.
This video is perfect! Couldn't figure out how to communicate to others that I needed the HD files. I kept getting video files at 720p even though I know the phone was recording much higher HD. Life saver video and easy to share! I sent them this youtube link and said, "do this...". I'll be sending this video to the next person who wants to send me video files.

keep getting "icloud storage full" when i try to copy the icloud link - but i have 100gb free right now keep getting the same storage full message
What if we don’t have an iCloud link?
FYI to all. You need to allow enough time for your phone to sync and upload to icloud before it will give you the icloud link option.

Use David’s method, 10 pictures via email is too large depending on the size of each photo.
And make sure that your plugged in, wifi enbaled iPhone is is close to the router as possible

Needed to specify how large is “large”. I’m trying to send - 4GB video, so this didn’t help
That wouldn't be a problem. Just be sure to give it time to upload to iCloud before sending.
