  • The Prime Minister has insisted things will improve by the next election as he sought to “inject some hope” after Tuesday’s warnings of more pain to come.
But he was unable to say a rise in fuel duty would not be part of the package when the Budget is announced on October 30.
Political commentator Robert Taylor joins Talk’s Ian Collins to discuss this further.

Public sector workers are paid by the government ie tax payers .
A large amount of tax income is paid by the private sector.
I worked in the private sector while mostly all my family worked in the public sector.
They would often complain that their pay did not match the private sector and therefore underpaid .
When they reached retirement age their pensions are quite frankly staggering given the economy as it is now.
Mine is the lowest level of state pension cos I worked as an electrician in the private sector.
Make of it as you will but my employment would be dictated by the economic situation, in and out of work, forced into self employment at times.
I am highly qualified and experienced electician having served a 5 year J.I.B. apprenticeship yet my value was chucked away by nonsense expensive courses to qualify to work .
It happened to all the Trades so now we have built homes that are lucky if they are still habitable in 10 years time sold to people with a 40 year mortgage.
But that's ok we have thousands of millionaires who do all they can to avoid income taxes.
    Johnnie Llewellyn.
