I have a non suspension version of the BOB trailer. I have been using it for over 10 years and absolutely love it. From getting a week's worth of groceries to traveling around the country, this is the perfect cargo trailer. I must add that one should also buy a good quality lock to go with this trailer. Unfortunately, in Calgary at least, it is a thief magnet.

Hey that was a pretty intense video as I watching and understanding the weight distribution of a bob trailer and also understanding what section of the trailer itself determines where you would put suspension is really about alot of PHYSICS. Thankyou for the shout out have a good day

Great vid- well done! Chrome-moly tubing is the way to go for any true cargo trailer. FYI, just for true peace-of-mind (or in my case to nix my paranoia), plan to replace the stock tire with the Schwalbe Marathon 16x1.75", plus a good quality tube & spare. Money well spent!

I always like the BikemanforU videos. I use trailers a lot and I recommend people with bicycles to think about the benefits that a trailer might bring.
For touring and commuting I like two wheeled trailers. The single wheeled trailer can place strain on the rear axle and as the cyclist leans left or right then they are also moving the mass on the trailer. With the two wheeled trailer the stress at the hitch is very much less and the mass is decoupled from the bicycle much more.
For touring I think people might want to look at the Cyclone by Radical. For any kind of use they might be interested in the Carry Freedom. There are many others of course.
Whatever trailer you decide on I think you will find it will add so much capability to your bicycle.

I bought a used trailer that was missing the attachment clips. I ordered a new set, no problem. They should never wear out being there really isn't any weight ,or stress on them.

Wouldn't work on my 2019 Trex X Caliber 8. The derailleur stuck out too far and the tongue hit the mounting nut on the hanger if I went over a bump more than a few inches or climbed a curt. Bob doesn't have any solutions for that problem and I can't see my way to hacking something that might fail on the trail somewhere.

they need to make them for a reg. hook up like some do not have the quick release on them. or you cant put one on a cruiser bike or others that have a reg axle .

I know you can easily lock the trailer to something, or route a cable through the trailer and bike to secure the trailer, but it would be nice if the attachment used to secure the trailer to the bike had a lock. I carry around a Kryptonite U-lock and cable to secure my bicycle frame, rear wheel and front wheel to something whenever I leave the bike and I can't keep an eye on it. The U-lock and cable is a real pain to carry around because it is heavy and bulky, but it offers good security. I secure my bicycle seat and post with a bicycle chain, which is always attached. If I know ahead of time that I am going to park the bicycle where I can still keep an eye on it, than I use a combination cable lock to lock the bike, because it is much lighter and less bulky than the more secure U-lock. If I had this trailer it would mean I need another lock to secure everything. I wish these companies would think more about security when designing their products.

The problem is that i would suspect some one with a set of pipe cutters could quickly cut that pipe and release any lock. Pipe cutters look like a C clamp and adjust to fit the size of pipe used. They will cut through steel as they score a ring around the pipe and continues to score deeper as u turn the clamp. So even if the chain is secure they could still take it. Not mention if things are just strapped in the trailer, that isnt secured either. And a pair of bolt cutters would make the snach and run much easier.....or else you stuff just gets unstrapped and walked off with.
The best bet is probably a lock box trailer.

This a thought about all trailers around on the market.
I wonder why ... The trailer is around 6kg... There are complete bicycles weighting that weight...
1.wheel weight 1.2kg/1.5kg complete with tire.
It means the whole thing is super heavy for the size and the weight it is supposed to carry (max load 30/45kg).
The frame only of the bob it is around 4.5kg I supposed. Bicycle steel frame weight around 2.2kg...
I do look forward for someone to come up with a practical solution for traveling and trailers with a weight under 4kg

Quality aluminum is light but is expensive and other than you... perhaps there is no for a $900 ibex? No mystery whatsoever as the steel vs aluminum debate has been with us for many many decades. This trailer IS a practical solution, WILL carry the weight limit claimed and have been spotted all around the world. Rather than over-analyze...go riding.

Nice. I'd be slightly fearful that the little clips that secure the bike to the Bob may get damaged or lost over time. They are such an integral peace of the system. It's not like you can make new ones.

3:55 says nylon bushing in the connector bracket. What a waste. Spend all that intelligence and time to build a beautiful, fantastic and functional trailer, a work of art, and you just destroy your brilliance with a 20 cent piece of plastic. I dont have time to fix that thing and I need durability in back country. A few pennies on piece of plastic, which should have been a dollar's worth of brass.
