"Bastard" refers to any child born out of wedlock. It's not a "king's child" lol.
I can't imagine the number of (additional) beheadings that would have occurred in mediaeval times if the king's children had been referred to as 'bastards'. Starting with a certain horned duck.
I think English might be the horned duck's second language, because 'by proxy' means someone else does it for you, so I'm not even sure it's possible to 'win by proxy'. Maybe, if he were a king's child and had a champion act for him. I have a feeling he meant 'win by default'.
I wish they would make a version 2 of this game.

@@furmeinvader3475 I think they mean a second edition version, like modern Zombicide 2e. If so, I agree. I would love to see fantasy Zombicide 2nd edition in which they add a campaign mode like they did with modern 2nd edition.
I'd rather just a new box that contained a campaign. I don't need to re-buy the game. The reboot of Classic was notable because it added the dashboards.

Aaaah great ! It wanted to suggest you to do it in your video asking for returns : Black Plague playthrough. Moore generaly, playthrough of a game you know well and rambling as usual.
Super strength only works with melee. The orcish weapons have two modes, ranged and melee.
I love this game! most of my play time is painting the minis but I count that as playing!

@@BoardGameCo this is actually one game that my wife requests. She has also helped me paint some of the minis so that makes a higher rating, for me, as well.
Just finished painting mine, now for the expansion miniatures.

I want the Green Horde. I have a thing for orcs, but I went for the full cowboy earlier.
Not a Big Fan of the Zombie theme, but if they combine this with Pirates at some point, I might get it. I just want to see a Zombie Kraken Abomination.
Zombie Kraken could be pretty cool on the table.

Hey Alex, this was a really fun playthrough. I hope you guys continue to do these. I was trying to pay attention to your house rules as you went through the game. Did I get this right? Anything I missed?
1. Max number of necromancers limited by XP level (1 for blue, 2 for yellow, etc.). Same for abominations.
2. With 3 players, each player chooses 2 of 4 randomly chosen characters
3. When a Necromancer or Abomination spawns, roll: 1-3 for a regular, 4-6 for a special

Great video! Entertaining and fun :) Quick question. Minute 44, you casted a spell I think you couldn't have because you would only see the next room, not the street and through the other building, right?
A bit late but this is true. The rules states that inside buildings vision only extends one room away

I own Black Plague, knight pledge and I'm curious if I need to buy any more expansions to get the most out of the game. I can't get hold of the deadeye walkers, but I could get Green horde, or it's expansions, any thoughts?
Got Green Horde cause the family likes fantasy but not zombies. Was hoping the theme would help get them to play. Finally willing, but found out it’s just harder so people use a Black Plague variant. Anyone know what that is or where to find it?

Where did you get those red and yellow card holders, did they come with the game or can they be purchased somewhere?
I think they were optional addons in some Zombicide KS campaign.

Alex great video as always, can you recommend essentials upgrade / expansions for black plague (i recently got it after seen your video play this not that of black plague vs second edition) and after seeing the gameplay with expansion i have the hunger for more zombie variability :)

@ websearch ‘Abomination Pack’ and ‘Deadeye Walkers’ … you’ll likely spend as much as the base game for either of these unless you find a deal.
Been watching a lot of zombicide videos recently. So unsure which one to buy. The game appeals to me and the themes are all so good.
I like black plague, the upcoming Marvel zombies is a blast as well
Line of sight inside buildings is limited to a single zone. Needless to say, many mistakes were made regarding that rule alone 😅. Still love the video though.

Good to see zombicide black plague. We have invader and realy enjoy it. Maybe I need to look for a copy of black plague.
Keep in mind that this play contains multiple expansions.
Do you guys normally ignore line of sight through buildings? Normally you can only see into the adjacent zone within buildings.
Not usually, but during a playthrough we'll miss more in order to keep the game going.
A few questions if you will indulge me.
1.) Is the randomization of characters and/ starting equipment the way you are supposed to play or just one way of doing things? With the base game we just drafted our characters and then selected equipment that went well with each person. With some extra characters now, we have started randomly selecting characters, but still optimize starting weapons. Is there an official way to do this?
2.) When I was reading about the 1st player token it seemed like it switches from player to player rather than character to character, and so we have been changing who starts things off and then alternating through players and each player chooses the order they activate THEIR characters along the way. Have we been playing this improperly? Or is this an area that is up to interpretation and choosing how you play it? (yes I know you can always play how yo want technically, but was wondering if there is an official rule here).
3.) How do you handle double spawns that come back around to the 1st spawn? It would seem to me that there was not going to be an original spawn anyway, so you would only draw one (I don't remember how you handled those (if it came up) in the video. Also, how do they stack? Do they just increase the number of spawns by 1, or by 2, or does the number double? Double spawns have been confusing us a little bit beyond the original spawn an extra card in the next area (as they compound and as they wrap around).

In case you haven't already found the answers... The rules list starting weapons to divvy out. The 1st player token does technically jump from player to player, but I wonder how many people actually play that way. Also, each player can technically play the controlled characters in any order, but that does slow things down. A double spawn means at the next spawn you draw two cards, treating them normally. When I get a double spawn on the final spawn I save it for the next zombie phase.

Lol I'm not in person...but when running playthrough videos you need to keep the show moving. Giving people all the time in the world to think means either lots of cuts and edits...or a very boring video.
Kinda missing the Zombicide 2nd edition playthrough. Did you remove that video?

I'm curious about the house rule you have for abominations. I have started to get into this game lately, and definitely felt like when adding in all the extra abominations, a house rule should be in play since it can get ridiculous otherwise. You said when you pull a regular abomination card, you roll the die to decide if it is a standard or not. In the case where you roll a 4-6, do you just choose which "super abomination" you put onto the board or do you do something else?
Last night we decided to just house rule extra abominations as more of a "boss" that had 4-6 HP depending on our levels, and we really enjoyed that.
My basics are that you're allowed one abomination and necromancer per level, for example if you are an orange, you can have three abominations on the board. As far as how I handle that, every abomination draw triggers a die roll And on a four five or six, I pull a special one instead of a basic from the separate special deck. Last week, depending on the difficulty I want I shuffle anywhere between two and four random abomination cards into the main deck

Just finished watching the whole gameplay... Xuxa only went 3 times at the end instead of 4... Meaning you would have push Marcus forward, the abomination would have taken out a bite twice onto xuxa. meaning you seem to have survived :) Fun gameplay though ;)

It wasn't easy to tell what they were killing and what weapon they were using, but I'm not sure they were following targeting priority.
Could definitely have made mistakes, I'd have to watch again to be sure.

I take it that you are using non standard starting equipment for Black Plague considering you didnt roll to open the doors at the start? Have you mixed starting equipment from Black Plague and Green Horde together?
Just wanting to clarify, as doors are usually frustrating in Black Plague, and it may be good for people who are looking to pick up the base game to know which characters and gear they get in the base game.
I really like the fantasy theme, but I think BP really benefits from the expansions and add ons to improve the gameplay

On the one hand I'm waiting for it (because I don't have Black Plague and Green Horde), on the other hand I'm scarred of it because it might cost me a lot of money (and storage space).

Hope this finds you as I know you're a bit of an expert on the series. Found myself really wanting to add ONE Zombicide version to my collection. I obviously missed all the kickstarters so my best bet is picking up a retail edition of some sort. If you were looking at ONLY the content available at retail now, would you still say Black Plague is the go-to best version period (not interested in Marvel Zombies at all).

@@blkjet117 yeah, last day of White death Kickstarter today. I’m really not impressed with it at all. I loved the whole frozen theme, but the samurai/shogun theme just doesn’t do it for me. The only thing I like about the campaign is the Turtles box. I’d back that as a stand-alone.
another good video, and I find myself agreeing with Jessie, I see that Zombicide is good but it doesn't quite draw me in, we have night of the living dead which is fun but perhaps too easy, but mainstream zombicide seems to often end with an unavoidable random whimper which makes you wonder if the previous 2 hours of play was really worth it...
Night of the Living Dead is supposedly too easy. For myself this particular loss was a little anticlimactic but usually I like it win or lose.
@@BoardGameCo night of the living dead does have that story thread through it and the quirky Romero mode. Does black plague have a story? I'm also intrigued by the lack of love the scifi one gets.
@@cyberleish my wife and I really enjoy invader. Just started on 2nd ed now.
BP does have a storyline (as does invader) that runs through the series of missions that you play through. It's not an in depth story, but does link the missions to an overall story arc.
Super strength just breaks the game and usually house-ruled out.
It's also better to spawn zombies from the most inner rooms first (especially if you added deadeye walkers)
Good playthrough overall.
Boardgameco - will you be running through a game of Invader with Shiera and Jesse, to see if that may suit them more? The streamlining and addition of concentrated attack may make a difference, and possibly tip the quack towards the franchise?
I understand it isnt your favourite, but they all appeal slightly differently to us gamers. (Just dont deliberately pick a bad mission :-) )
And I seem to recall a video where Shiera said she hadn't played invader yet.
We'll definitely be playing it, I don't know if we'll be doing a filmed playthrough.

Love the game. I made and print out some OP equipment cards. The game is so much fun with custom cards.
Someone should make a data base to create custom cards for all.
I like bp but prefer invader. As light as the game is I find Invader moves at a better pace.
Totally hear you...I can agree on pacing, but the game it delivers doesn't work as well for me.
Black Plague rules don't say that the game ends just because someone died. Did you get that rule from an expansion, or that's a house rule?

ummm actually in the first turn ann could not have rushed the zombie since you need line of sight to the zombie and within buildings you can only see into the next room
I got 2nd Edition ( i dont know what there sudden obsession with kids is) and its two expansions, and tbh id swap it all for Black Plague etc

@@BoardGameCo I see I wanted to buy Invader but now I am confused. I like its remote control bot, sentry gun, concentrate fire, oxygen mechanic, abomination mold that spawns xenos. Would like to know what makes black plague better than invader. I only have night of the living because I love the atmospheric claustrophobic horror, tower defense mechanic, and the vibe like mansion of madness but the game is said to be the easiest ( I remove the easy zombie cards to make it harder). Would want a new zombicide game and I am torn between black plague and invader

Hey Alex! Was it just me or did you cheat in round two by taking four actions instead of three with your survivor, the one who traded after having already had three other actions? I think that's what I saw. If so, gotta keep my eye on you. LOL!

@@BoardGameCo All joking aside, I edit my own podcasts, so I understand the need for pacing for the editing process. Things get missed in game play, even when you're playing in a relaxed setting with friends. Just so you know, I also love Zombicide's fantasy setting. It's my favorite board game of all time. And I share your desire to make fantasy Zombicide more difficult. Some of my regular players complain about it all the time.
Does this quackalope know that there is another, unbearded, quackalope that is impersonating him??? And does he also know that he has a companion that looks just like Shiera (i before e except after c!) with that impersonator??? This cannot stand!!!!

You probably wouldn't like any Zombicide at all in that case. I too think that Black Plague is the best Zombicide has to offer. Unless the theme was what you did not like, in that case, you could check out other themes.
@@r.l.jeffries1091 where it comes from is getting so body blocked in let game that it is hell to get around, how hard it is to find dragon bile and the torch to get rid of abominations along with big hordes, and having to play with 4-6 characters with my group being me and one other person and they really don’t like playing multiple characters
@@infernowarriorarchive8073 In that case, it sounds more like the game in general is not for you and your friend. I'm not the biggest fan of it either, but I keep Black Plague around because I think it is the best of the series, even though I'd rather be playing something else most times. I find that I only wind up playing it with people who are newer to the hobby.
