    Wat ben ik blij dat er in Nederland dingen worden ondertiteld, In plaats van presentatoren die overal door heen aan het praten zijn. Erg vermoeiend en storend bij een zo mooie dienst en muziek voor een begrafenis.

    King Baldwin's wife, Queen Fabiola, is in white with King Albert II on her left. I believe that it is Queen Paola on his left. I had the great luck to meet both King Baldwin and Queen Fabiola in 1967 in Assisi in Santa Maria degli Angeli. We were all very impressed by their charisma and charm. Truly noble people. Lovely music of Purcell and fine singing. Lech Walesa at 6:50, a great Catholic and Freedom fighter. Thank you for posting, Renaat. God bless Belgium.

    King Baudouin was a great leader. He will never be forgotten because of his courageous crusade for the rights of the unborn and for refusing to liberalize the abortion laws of Belgium. He was a great champion for the poor and suffering. He was loved greatly throughout the entire world, and still is.

    J' aime profondément le Stabat Mater de Pergolesi, aussi le "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" qui débute l' oeuvre convient parfaitement à cette messe. Dans ce sens, c' est une attention particulière à la reine Astrid, à laquelle on prête reconnaissance au ciel ( ce qui signifie beaucoup), laquelle dans son amour infini pour ses enfants, a dû beaucoup pleurer Baudouin sur ses genoux , comme la Piéta...mais aujourd' hui peut l' aimer dans un plan de conscience commun, de vie éternelle.

    Comme il est doux de voir Joséphine Charlotte et le grand duc Jean de Luxembourg son époux, aux côtés de la reine Fabiola et du Roi Albert...Joséphine Charlotte a "porté beaucoup", dans son enfance, suite au décès de leur mère Astrid, et sa proximité initiale et de tous temps auprès de Baudouin la place de Facto au premier plan de l' intime, du sensible de son frère. Nous pouvons constater sa grande affliction, son désarrois est immense, visiblement la plus touchée. Comment dire si près de Dieu, la proximité fondamentale est celle de l' épouse, de la mère ou de la soeur dans ce cas...je pense que toutes trois sont aujourd'hui côte à côte auprès de Baudouin...

    I was there when that great king died. The outpouring of grief including by me was phenomenal. He was loved by all his people and did not subscribe or participate in the linguistic division, He saw the higher picture. A truly modest and compassionate person. I was irritated in this video that it was all in Flemish (a dialect of Dutch) and that whenever French was spoken the commentator chose to make his commentary just at that time. There was no French commentary when Flemish was spoken. French is spoken equally with Flemish (as well as smaller percentages for German and English) and thus a respectful thing to do is to allow the two languages to be heard without overriding commentary. Come on, this was the funeral of a great king and was absolutely not used to push political agendas. Have some respect for everyone who lives in that great country!

    • @RenaatVanhaverbeke
      @RenaatVanhaverbeke  Před 6 lety +4

      This is from the VRT, the public TV station of Flanders. The comments when French was spoken, is the Dutch translation. On the RTBF you will see the opposite situation. This has nothing political.
      Just to inform you: Dutch is the primary language for 60% of the Belgians, French for 40%.

I joined the crazy French talking troop of females running behind the car of the king and queen, Fabiola and Boudewijn, started yelling also and wove with my hand: "Vive la reine! Vive la reine Fabiola et le roi Baudouin! ... " A.s.o.

    There is no official rule that states British Sovereigns can't attend weddings, funerals or birthdays parties abroad. It became a custom that they use to stay at home and send other family members to represent them. In 1913, King George V & Queen Mary attended the wedding of the Kaiser's daughter, in Berlin. This funeral was in August, Queen Elizabeth II was holidaying at Balmoral so, there was no excuse for not attending. For coronations indeed no foreigns Sovereigns use to attend.
