    I follow a guy in Ireland, I think, who puts out the seaweed and then puts lawn clippings over it, lets it weather, and then recycles his bucket garden soil that way. It's worked for him for years. Seems like good stuff. Home Grown Veg is his channel.

      Oh yeah I think I watched some of his videos. I will have to check it out. You can go wrong with seaweed. Lawn clippings is a good use as well. I just don't have any access to them.

      what about the salt content of the seaweed? would that hurt plants over time?

      Yeah the bucket (booooket) guy. 😊 You can mix seaweed and leaves and or old potting mix and make compost too. Cold compost.

      Do you have a high speed blender? I have a Blendtec. Vitamix would work

    A 20 pound bag of kelp meal is like 85 dollars where I live. I wish I was by the coast lol. Literally in Missouri about as far as I could get.

      Wow. Yeah that is a lot of money. I guess I scored a deal than. You might have got some good stuff if it is harvested somewhere there is pristine waters. Wonder where yours came from?

      @@GrowingOrganicTvShow I'm using the down to earth brand Kelp meal. You can find the down to earth stuff in many organic garden stores and most hydro stores. Im assuming its shipped here from kelp farms off the coast somewhere. It definitely works well tho

    I was able to collect 2 types of seaweeds in SD last weekend. Thanks for the video. I foraged a hair like type and the bubbly with fat leaves type. Gosh, I should find their names…Thanks for the suggestion! My garden is going to love it 😊

      Great. Yeah it sounds like you have some similar stuff. I been seeing a lot of the grassy hair like seaweed lately too.

    Great video. Not sure how i feel about seaweed in my car though. Suggest using a big butcher knife to slice through rather than scissors; pretend you're a chef. Then use a rolling pin for the next rendering. And finish it up in the blender. Should make a fairly fine mixture. I'd watch a video on that.

      Yeah fortunately I have a truck for that. Good ideas. Thanks, I was thinking about the different ways to do it. Some chunks are pretty dense and not sure if my blender could handle it.

      Yes I add it into my soil mix or you can sprinkle on top and it will break down.

    hey can i feed this to my cattle as mineral feed? because kelp meal is so expensive.

    • @GrowingOrganicTvShow
      @GrowingOrganicTvShow  Před rokem +1

      I am assuming it would be good for cattle as well but be sure to ask a professional that deals with cattle specifically. Animals needs vitamins and minerals like humans too.

    🤔 Does the salt water not affect your grow?

    • @GrowingOrganicTvShow
      @GrowingOrganicTvShow  Před 2 lety +1

      What I do is rinse all the seaweed off really good before using in garden. There still may be a little salt left but it should be fine.
