    Good to see so many new engines and trains in the north instead of refurbished outcasts from the south

      Hasn’t it got more to do with what the train company choose to lease rather than cast offs?

    That's the 1st time I've seen the 68 at the Yorkshire end of the train and living on Merseyside I've seen a few 68's recently on TPE workings. The 802 looks very impressive and it will be good for Liverpool to have direct trains to Scotland again soon.

      I agree, their livery is amazing too especially without the yellow front.

    I see these coming through Leeds all the time now but from what I can see 5 cars is barely enough, it's still packed in to the point of overcrowding through much of the day! I hope TPE has an option to order further coaches for each set of that the sets will be coupled to make 10 car sets in peak periods otherwise this will barely be progress.
    In fact I think if anything the class 185s and 360s are superior in ride smoothness and seat comfort, but right now I'm just glad to see the extra capacity in the TPE fleet!

      @mattstrains6133  Před 4 lety

      Could do with some 8 car units maybe TPE should order some there would be difficulties with 10 cars fitting into the platforms at Manchester Airport and Manchester oxford Road as well as some other places around the network.

    Crosscountry Trains want to take a leaf out of other operators and replace the outdated cattlewagons with some new comfy trains with seats. Have to stand on every journey on a cattlewagon

    Will we see these new nova trains running between Hull and Manchester?

    • @mattstrains6133
      @mattstrains6133  Před 4 lety

      From what I've heard I don't think they will be in the near future maybe later on and it will probably be a class 68 Mk5 if they do. but they will probably have more double 185s on that route now (6 car)

    • @markwillis7140
      @markwillis7140 Před 4 lety

      Hi I actually live in Hull so it's funny how places like Scarborough and Middlesbrough gets brand new traibs with more seats and faster journey times but not Hull that sounds fair doesn't it? According to TPE's website the Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport services gets 2 X Class 185s 7 days a week but Hull to Manchester Piccadilly only gets 6 car trains on Monday to Fridays at peak times only. Mind you we have no direct service to Manchester Airport, no catering trolley and also slower journey times due to getting more stops between Leeds to Manchester. Why does TPE treat Hull passengers like dirt?

    • @agent_605
      @agent_605 Před 4 lety

      @@markwillis7140 They don't. The stopping patterns for the Hull service is dictated by the DfT and Network Rail, and since last December the stopping pattern for the Hull service has been reduced back to pre-May 2018 levels. Scarborough and Middlesbrough services are longer, hence the higher quality trains. A 6 car 185 actually has more seats than any of the Novas, and TPE have said it's likely now all 185s will be kept so that the Hull service can be permanently 6 car if necessary. Manchester Airport has limited capacity so that's why they don't run through to the Airport, and theres no catering trolley as the journey is only just 2 hours, whilst all other TPE services with trolleys are usually around 3 hours end-to-end

    • @markwillis7140
      @markwillis7140 Před 4 lety

      If Manchester Airport has got limited capacity why is Hull the only city in the north of England not to have a direct rail service and why has Bradford got a new direct rail service running there? I have yet to see TPE 6-car class 185s running out of Hull yet. Even LNER that runs one daily service between Hull and London has new trains and they used to be a catering trolley on the route before the Transpennine franchise came into force. With Northern Rail now operating a new service between Hull and Leeds I hope passengers travelling between Hull and Brough to Leeds boycott travelling with TPE until rail services out of Hull vastly improve so we don't get infieior treatment compared to other towns and cities in the north.

    • @agent_605
      @agent_605 Před 4 lety

      Mark Willis If you think Northern will treat you any better you’re badly mistaken. The Bradford to Manchester Airport service was cancelled because of capacity issues. There aren’t any 6 car services yet because there aren’t enough of the new trains in service yet to introduce them. LNER only have new trains on the Hull route as most of the time the train that runs to Hull actually serves Leeds. If the catering trolley has been removed with the franchise change it’s likely been a DfT decision as the franchise holder hasn’t changed. You aren’t getting inferior treatment at all, you, like every other Northern town and city, just has to be patient for improvements to arrive

      @@mattstrains6133 The class 802 switching from electric to diesel, I really would like to hear and see the diesel engines starting up...
      Uncut version or full length. Bonus will be departure;
      A good opportunity to spot the nova 2 is at Manchester Airport because tpe uses these on the service to Newcastle so there is a good chance at Victoria to spot the electric to diesel change as the line after Leeds is partially electrified...
