  • Have you wondered how much it costs to have a boat like my 44 Foot DeFever Trawler? I disclose how much my actual overhead costs are, which include my slip rent, insurance, financing, and hull cleaning. I guess you could say it is the price you pay to live in paradise! This is the way I want to live, so it is totally worth it for me. Of course there are many variables, and these costs are not applicable to everyone, but my hope was that this would be helpful to you and your future planning.

    I want tons of solar and lithium batteries just so I can anchor out. The black water is a problem but not if I replace a crapper with a composting one. Just to use while at anchor. I have big dreams for someone who has not bought a boat yet. Lol.

    Are they calculated by the foot of the boat and the distance delivered? I'm sure that must be the two big considerations, but what about other costs. If you were delivering ...say a 60 ft Hatreress from Miami to N.Carolina how would the charge for that delivery be calculated? Can you give me some idea how these calculations are figured?

      When at sea, how do you manage fresh water, sewage water, and electricity?
      I'm assuming you have a water maker for fresh water, that is powered by a generator? Do you have a battery pack so you don't have to run the generator 24/7? And, if you're so many miles out into the ocean, you're allowed to dump septic, correct?

    • @Driftwood50
      @Driftwood50 Před rokem +4

      @Whatta great question.
      For electricity. I added 5 300ah lithium. They power everything including the ac's/heaters. I have solar that keeps them charged. If I have guest and they cook alot and open the fridge alot. I will start the 12kw generator every 5 days for about 2 hours.
      Water. I carry 300 gallons in a tank and also bring about 30 gallons of bottle water.
      I piss over the side while in the ocean. My poop tank holds 100 gallons. More then enough to hold till I get to a pump out.
      I have never dumped while in the ocean (yuck) but you are allowed.
      I fill up the tank with water when I get back to a dock. Plenty of free water in Florida.
      One day I will add a water maker.

      There used to be 30,000 people living aboard up and down the Mississippi/Tennessee river systems until the feds went through and kicked them all out. Sure, you can "live aboard" in the middle of nowhere Missouri as long as no one else is "living aboard" near you at dirt cheap prices. In fact, I have thought of doing so on the Tennessee as like you it is DIRT CHEAP. In fact, you can "live aboard" for free on the Mississippi currently. Absolutely NO ONE is fighting for a slip as is NOT the case near any vacation spot, in fact you are probably the only boat in the "marina"[close enough to only boat] Because no one else WANTS to do that as the whole point is to be able to move your home wherever you want whenever you want to someplace warm as almost no boats have insulation. Ft. Myers $300/month.... ROFL!!! Good one. Got some swamp land to sell too? Maybe bridges? Its $600/month + electricity and per person. A slip for a 40ft will be in total about $800/month or $5000/yr after the governor is added in the CHEAPEST part of Florida. The opposite side of Florida will set you back 2X this cost minimum if not closer to 3X. In/naer cities, paying $30,000 for your permanent slip and paying another $3k-->5k/yr in marina fees is NOT uncommon. @@JohnEBurns

      I considering selling my house and 'going to sea'. I don't have a mortgage, but utilities run $550-$650 monthly, homeowner's insurance is $650 yearly, house insurance - appliances/mechanical/plumbing is $35 monthly, real estate tax is $2,800 yearly, insurance on 2 cars is another $1,800 plus upkeep another $ 1,500-$2,000...so, when you consider how much you spend to live in a house there's not a lot of difference, if any. Way to long of an introduction in everything but the title of the video. You really need to scrap 90% of that for the viewer. The average youtuber will watch a video for 7 seconds and if they do not start feeling they got the information in the title they will click off, as I did. That is why your drop rate is so high. We are three minutes into your video and your trying to sell T-shirts. No offense but less about you and more about the viewer. I know that is hard..but that is really what youtube is about. Really not trying to be mean...but trying to help. Check your drop off rate and see if it does the dreaded hocky stick. If so...this is why. Good luck.
