  • This is the first video in a 3-part video series on how to make a Märklin turnout & double slip switch digital. This will enable you to use the turnout & double slip with the Mobile Station and Central Station. In this video series it is illustrated how to use the turnout & double slip switch with the Mobile Station 2 (MS2) and Central Station 3 (CS3). The tutorial illustrates the installation in the standard turnout (24611/24612), the curved turnout (24671/24672) and the double slip switch (24624).
This first part of the series illustrates how to install the turnout mechanisms 74490 and 74492. Unfortunately, I do not have the 74491, but it is similar to the 74492 just with a different of wires that you do not need. Install the 74491 as illustrated with the 74992. Do remember the double slip switch already comes with the turnout mechanism installed. The only tool you need for installation is a small screw driver. Screw driver cross point size 00 (Ph).
This video do not look at how to use the turnout mechanism with a control box.
Enjoy and have fun with model trains :-)

Thanks a lot and continue educating and teaching all the model rail roader, because MARKLIN DOES NOT PRODUCE NOTHING GOOD IN ENGLISH, SPANISH OR FRENCH, NOR IN BOOKS NEITHER IN VIDEOS.

Thank you so much for presenting such wonderful videos on how to install all this digital technology on the turnouts, and I have lost the fear to convert from analog to digital technology. I am buying now a few decoders and motors for the turnouts and please continue presenting this wonderful videos about other topics related to Marklin digital. Viele Grusse aus Cincinnati, Ohio

      Hi Doctor,
      Glad it was helpful!
I hope you will have fun with the digital world and I hope you will be successful in converting to digital. Not sure how far you are in the conversion, but remember it can be done in stages. You can start with accessories and later all the track. Many items can be re-used from the analog Märklin world as well.
      Enjoy ;-) Bo

So if i wouldnt be using it digital cant i just put the yellow wire on the track so it gets power from the track and then have the 2 blue ones on the controll box wich is in the end powerd by a travo

Hi Seni, the manual for the control box shows you how to connect: static.maerklin.de/damcontent/22/bc/22bc84c98f94f78c5c7db5289e0874311660729862.pdf As far as I can see you are right. Connect the two blue to the control box and the yellow to Red (B) on the track. Enjoy ;-)

      Hi,
I do not have much experience with analogue. However, if you are using C-track, then you can use the Märklin 74030 to separate power between two tracks. In this way you can insulate after the turnout e.g. on the curved side.
Be aware that there are multiple connectors between 2 C-track, so you need to insulate the correct ones. My guess is that you can have same "0", but need to separate the "B" / implying you need two insulators.
However, best to ask someone that uses analogue to be sure (or your favorite model train store).
      Hope this helps. Enjoy ;-)

Hi. Great video. Can I use my British trains on this track?

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  Před 3 lety +1

Honestly, I do not know. I believe that OO-gauge actually do run on H0-gauge tracks, but I am unsure of this. However, The OO-gauge is not compatible with the Märklin versions of the C-track as they are different (they have "center studs" - or 3rd rail). But Märklin offer exactly the same C-track for 2-rail/DCC model layouts under the Trix brand. Go to the Trix products database, select Gauge="Trix H0", article group="Railtracks" and subgroup="Railtracks" - here: www.trix.de/en/service/product-database.
Essentially, the Märklin version is 24xxx, while the Trix version is 62xxx, so the standard straight is Märklin=24188 and Trix=62188. You can put the same turnout mechanisms and decoders in each. However, the wires are slightly different - do consult the manual. The C-track standard straight in Trix is this one: www.trix.de/en/products/details/article/62188.
Please let us know if 00-gauge run on H0-gauge tracks. I have been considering buying some British wagons - just for fun. The neuclear transport freight car from Accurascale looks great.
      Hope this helps. Enjoy ;-)

Just found "Guide to Model Railway Scales" on Hornby support site - according to them the track used for OO-scale is HO-scale. support.hornby.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360016110960-A-Guide-to-Model-Railway-Scales#:~:text=The%20most%20popular%20model%20rail%20scale%20in%20the,can%20run%20on%20a%20H0%20layout%20and%20vice-versa.
Too bad my model train wallet is empty for this month... :-(
I would encourage you to ask around and see if any have experience with how well it runs.
      Enjoy ;-)

You can mix the C- and M-tracks on your layout. For this you need the Märklin 24951 Adapter Track. You can install the Märklin 74490/74491/74492 turnout mechanism in the C-track turnouts. This will also work on an analogue layout. However, the turnout decoders will only work with a digital layout.
You can also make a digital layout with M-track - however, this will be expensive as you need to upgrade all your locomotives to digital. Consider a mixed layout with a digital track as an imtermediate step. You could have a layout circle with one track analogue and one track digital.
      Enjoy ;-)
