Such a pity to see some of the more negative comments, especially as most can be answered by looking at the description and going onto the website. Thank you for taking the time to post.
Thanks.
I built a yagi recently. Im grttingninto gmrs and doing my amsteur license test soon. I made a yagi out of a 1/2" copper pipe fornthe beam and i used 1/4 " soft copper fornthe elements and such. Solered it together with electricaal solder and made my own gamma match setup. Im impressed. Lots of fun making antennas and making them function
Please ignore the other comments. It’s great to see people doing stuff, learning is the best way, and your website link is right there for people to see.
Cheap single-band UHF yagis are great starting points. They’re small, which helps a lot. Definitely agree with the length of feedline comments, if you can desolder and cut it down and put it a bit further up to where they come out of the coax it’d certainly help a touch. A few ferrites clipped on would help too with the current coming back down the coax shield.
👍
I really like the clean tidy workmanship. Wow... looks like you had a factory make this. Very nice, this does not look DIY, that is the compliment ..
It just seems like Yagi’s would work best if the reflector and director elements were not electrically connected.
As long as it works , that's all that matters 👍🏾
👍
Have you tried building a dual band flower pot antenna but do a step better a !!!! A hanging flower pot with a 7 turned choke , I haven't seen that on CZcams
You could be the first 👍🏾👍🏾
Did you check the performance againt other antennas, like Nagoya NA771, or measure the gain in dBi?
id love to know how to adjust this for GMRS
What if I make it with copper wire tho?
What are
The element lengths and spacing plz i
Would
Like to make one

The reflector and the director must normaly be insulatet from the carier element. You have it conected.
Hey mate! I'm new to ham radio, could you please tell why it should be insulated?
Without any matching section, did you verify your SWR? It's probably pretty high..?
what is the gain
Dimensions?
No disrespect Sir: But if I might add my 2 cents worth to this. Your antenna feed line connection is way to long and now is part of the radiating element length. As such now you will have to decouple the coax cable with a choke balun sometimes called an ugly balun. If not the feedline will radiate in a 360 degree pattern. And there might even be RF on the case of the radio because of this. Because of this one fact I would not copy your build as the SWR has to be out of sight etc!. Also one other interested person asked how to ground this antenna. Myself I would have built this with a grounded driven element and a gama match or a shunt feed point. Again with the feed point connection as short as possible. To direct drive an element for uhf like this is not done well without some form of balancing at the feed point. Just remember to also have a 1/4 wave coax shunt in the feedline that is shorted at it's end to bring the hot lead to DC ground but not RF ground to protect your radio. Exactly the explanation for balun i have been searching for,Thanks for your explanation and reasons for using it ....
Thanks 😁😁😁

How you wiring
not a 50 ohm balanced feed. does that affect how well it works ?
I mainly just made this to tryout. Mainly for RX only.
@@FuzzThePiGuy Rx only ? wouldn't a cheap uhf yagi Tv antenna work for that? changeout the connector and your set ...I picked up a few in the trash..
Can you share your specs on the copper yagi ? By the way great video collection.
I think the link to that is under another comment on this video.
Does the green layer on the copper affect rf ?
I wouldn’t think. There’s no green on this antenna.
nice on do you have the measurements fo r it
BRIAN BROWN the url is in the description.
@@FuzzThePiGuy i must be missing some thing .
@@FuzzThePiGuy no mention of mesurements of the copper tube in the video .
BRIAN BROWN I used 3/8” soft copper for elements. users.belgacom.net/hamradio/schemas/uhf4el.gif
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💎
👍
how about a 2 meter in copper pipes????????? with more elements plz?????
junito1957 that would be cool. It would be a little big.
that the point bigger is better when it come to ham antenna!
Useless video, no info.
Why?
Useless. Dimensions?
Did you look in the description?
@@FuzzThePiGuy No he evidently did not!.
I appreciate the effort, but the only thing I see in the description is a link to your website where there is the same video. I don’t see any dimensions.
