"There's no cheating in art" one of the greats one said (Can't remember who). You create with art and creating, in any way you do it, is still creating. When photobashing, you still need to have an incredible knowledge of what you're doing.
It's meant to make it easier, for concept artists to work faster and thereby get paid more, but as an illustrator it can also be a very useful tool. You can easily see the difference from a very knowledged artist do photobashing and someone that doesn't know the basics of doing art in general.

@@sk.9857 It's derfinitely something I've considered greatly lately, but in the end I end up staying with that thought that I wrote above. A.I can create art, sure... Good for A.I...... But it was never YOUR art then, afterall. However, should you use it as a base to create something with, then it is still your creation and it shows a creative mind.

Imad Awan I think you’ve already pointed out how to develop sharper color matching skills----draw from basic, (with proper photo reference.
Once starters get used to paint color responsively , then I think being good at it won’t be a problem at all.
Starters can’t rush it.

If you have a flat colour background, you don't need to make selection, you can just change that flat colour to alpha. Obviously this will interfere if there is a similar colour inside the silhouette, but you can easily deselect that portion.
It will probably make it much easier for people who aren't accustomed to selection tool especially if there's a lot of such photos

I'm still new to photoshop and the whole photobashing concept style and this was honestly such a great thing to be taught early on I would've pulled my hair out if i knew colour matching (that tool specifically because sure colour balancing/hues and such exist but they've never been this effective) thanks for the video! :D

I really enjoyed the tutorial as it was very insightful. I had researched the basic meaning of it, so I had a basic understanding of it. Now that I have watched this instructional video, I have a better understanding of how this technique is used in concept art.
The thing I was having trouble understanding was where to get reference photos from. Like many others, I thought this was some form of cheating. Your explanation of using royalty free assets to create concept art made since.
Also, you made as excellent point about the importance of practicing art techniques and principles first, so that you can translate that skill into the photo-bashing techniques. You demonstrated your artistic skills very well by explaining your process and using tools and techniques like HVS to color match, painting in shadows and other techniques to make each element fit into the environment. You done a lot of work on this piece and the end result is an excellent work of art.
