  • 2019 Point guard Boogie Ellis announced on Wednesday that he's decommitted from Duke and it instantly opened the door for other schools to get involved and land an extremely talented guard who can shoot lights out from the three and is dangerous in transition. Rivals.com caught up with Ellis at practice for the Ball Is Life All American game to get the latest on a timeline for a commitment, potential new schools getting involved and what his next steps will be in the coming weeks.

he knew, but he just really wanted to play at duke and get coached by the legend himself coach K, when Boogie committed to duke, duke didn't even offer Cassius at the time so boogie thought him and tre could be the backcourt. With Cassius committing there just a couple weeks ago and realizing that boogie would have to share minutes with Tre, Cassius, Goldwire and O'connell he wasn't gonna get the minutes he wanted and probably wasn't gonna get NBA attention that he wanted after his first year.

lante07 ehh, Tre Jones was projected late first round pick. So yes he wasn’t projected top 10 or anything like that. But most freshman that have the first round option usually go. So I bet he thought Tre was going, after all tre was the top point guard in his class and a top 10 overall recruit. Boogie was moreso worried Tre and Cassius would take minutes he wanted. I think those three would have been dominant, but obviously none of them want to be the “odd man out.”

It's amazing to me, even with all the resources and Internet access, these kids still seem to have such a cliche mindset. In college ball, 2 PG lineups are wildly successful... Darren Collison played alongside Russell Westbrook, Jrue Holiday played with Collison, Terry Rozier played with Chris Jones, Eric Bledsoe played with John Wall, Russ Smith won a ship playing with Peyton Siva, Tyus Jones won a ship playing with Quinn Cook, Shabazz Napier won a ship playing with Ryan Boatright, Jalen Brunson won a ship playing with Ryan Arcidiacono, etc, etc. Having a non ball dominant guard like Tre Jones to help handle the ball and defend would've only helped Boogie's development, not hurt it. Joe Stuehmer That's fine, players fight for PT... It's not like Boogie is an elite level NBA prospect, he projects to be in college for multiple years. The point is, boogie cites the presence of Tre Jones as his deterrent to Duke, not Cassius. I happen to think he would've played just as much as Cassius, if not more due to his shooting/scoring capabilities. I still maintain that citing another PG as an issue is silly on the college level, especially when the other PG isn't ball dominant and struggles to score, an area where you excel. Facts are Boogie and Tre compliment each other well. If Boogie and RJ Hampton both end up going to Memphis (which is rumored), the same issue of another PG is present yet the fit won't be as good. 🤷‍♂️

@@deingram3677 - "we" a common term used by the fanbase where the person speaks of their team collectively by including themselves in name only--never before had it been taken as the fan being literal about being part of the team until your genius ass came along and tried to re-define it.
Here, let me give you an easier to follow example: NY Knicks fan right about now--"We need KD, Kyrie and the #1 pick to be a contender!!!"... you see De Ingram, the "we" that was used doesn't make it so the fan believes that they are part of whether the Knicks become a contender--merely referring to what the KNICKs need. Another fan may disagree and say, "No, we just need KD, Kyrie and trade the pick for a vet to be a contender". Again, the "we" in question simply refers to the Knicks and in no way believes that they, nor the other fan, are actually taking part in what the Knicks become.
I feel like you know this and are trolling but it's questionable and, just in case, this is me doing my good deed for the day and helping you understand words and how they work. For that matter, "reading between the lines" means that Karlito understood to not take Boogie's word as the complete truth... ever have a GF? Women say a million things that aren't the truth but you better figure out what the hell she really wants if you plan on keeping her? Example; GF mentions how one of her girls was taken on a romantic date for her birthday and then says very little about it--what this really means is you better open up your wallet and make her birthday over the top! Don't and you'll be holding your hand. Boogie said he wants to run a team and that's why he's leaving--what he's really saying is that now that Duke has another elite guard that it pushes him off the starting line-up... if it were completely about Jones, then he would have done this a month ago when Jones announced he was returning.
I hope this helps but I bet I wrote more than you're willing to read in one sitting.

not butt hurt at all. I just dont understand his logic, i mean i do.. hes young i just dont think its a smart move. he would have gotten alot of play time, coach K likes to rotate players and switch things up. he loves having 2 teams to alternate . may be this kids biggest mistake in his life.... i wish him the best though!
