Ayam penyet (Javanese for: smashed fried chicken) is Indonesian - more precisely East Javanese cuisine - fried chicken dish consisting of fried chicken that is smashed with the pestle against mortar to make it softer, served with sambal, slices of cucumbers, fried tofu and tempeh. In Indonesia penyet dishes, such as fried chicken and ribs are commonly associated with Surabaya, the capital city of East Java. The most popular ayam penyet variant is ayam penyet Suroboyo.[1]

Surprisingly after trying a lot of Ayam Penyet, the best I ever tasted was SIM foodnote's Ayam Penyet stall! Super crispy, got Tofu & Tempeh, got curry and super spicy sambal!!!!!😍

You guys should try Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut! The Ayam penyet and Bebek (duck) penyet is so good! They have the red sambal (very spicy) and green sambal (not spicy). My favourite is the Bebek goreng penyet with green chilli sambal. So good! 😋
Maybe can do an episode of Nasi Goreng Ayam too! I recommend from Seah Im Hawker Centre - Farasha !!!

They didn't penyet the chicken on the sambal? You guys being cheated lah. The point of penyet-ing the chicken beside tenderize it is so that those ( should be newly grinded) sambal can go into all the surface and the crevice of the chicken.

Ayam Penyet President is good but there's no consistency... They always don't give me the tempe (other places normally will give you additional tofu if they run out of tempe but APP doesn't) and when I order the vegetable soup, although the menu states that there are long beans in it, I get none... like why are you shortchanging your customers?

The only authentic ayam penyet is Ayam Penyet Ria , because this is the only Ayam Penyet Indonesia branch in Singapore. The other is just copycat.
