Honestly, I regard her as the master of the "riff and run" technique. No other singer I've heard can hit those down or up runs as PRECISELY as her! Every single note on her runs are adroit and exact, it's completely amazing! I mean other singers are really good at "runs" but they do not use as many notes as Kim Burrel. She can hit like 10 to 15 notes on a run so easily....I truly admire her!

This is what I mean, I am not concerned with who sang or recorded the song first - it does not matter at all! Just listen to her vocals, they are second to none. The blessing is that there is room for both renditions by Bishop Hawkins and Kim Burrell and there is nothing wrong with that! You should have been there to hear The Nelson's, the girls behind her in the black,the did "I've Got Company." It was a night to remember!

It really amazes me how the people of God can look at an annointed woman of God such as Kim and be fazed by her riffs and runs. I agree with tcphilosopher that her singing is not taken seriously. As a musician, I know how that feels sometimes. You feel as if you are a spectacle and then it can sometimes be for show. I thank God for the annointing on Kim and others that sing, preach and play for the love of HIM!!!
