  • This video is a step by step guide to replacing the Cue Screen in a 2013 Cadillac XTS. We cover removing the module from the car, disassembly, replacement of the screen, reassembly and finally installation back in the car. Defective Cue Screens is very common in Cadillacs of this era and common symptoms include lack of response to touch over the entire screen, lack of response to touch over certain parts of the screen or screen not working at all. The replacement can be performed with basic hand tools and takes a few hours to complete. The replacement Cue Screen used in this video came from CueScreens.com and was of excellent quality. This type of repair can run over $1,000 at a dealership but can be completed for about $150 at home.

WOW!! Thank you J's!! If you had not made and posted this video, I'd have dropped $1.5k at the dealership to replace the touchscreen on my wife's 2014 XTS. SO thankful to you!! Had you not been so good, I would not have had the confidence to tackle the job. Your process was smooth, well described and logical. It took me longer than you but I was being extra careful not to break any clips. Viola! It now works perfectly! My wife is so pleased!! Again, THANK YOU for making this video!! ~GPeterson, Puyallup, Washington

I'm going to drop $1,500 if they lose that class action lawsuit. I can't see General Motors bending over and fixing all those damn screens as labor intensive as this is. Please God let them win the class action lawsuit

I have the exact car and the same issue. I watched your video, then ordered the replacement part from Cuescreens. Then, after receiving the replacement part, ran your video step-by-step. It works beautifully. It took me about 4 hours, because I took my time, documented the sequence etc. Thank you for doing this video, saved me at least $1500 because my dealer would only replace the whole unit.

I have to credit this video as being the best regarding reassembling the dash components in my XTS. Most of these videos only show you how to unscrew and rip everything apart and leaves you hanging with putting everything back together. I struggled the most with reassembling the trim/dash/gear shifter assembly and almost lost my mind. Glad I saved a lot of money but I'd rather not go thru this again.

Excellent step by step. Detailed everything needed to removed the screen for my 2017 XTS.

  •  Před 3 měsíci

Thank you for making this video! Took me about 8 hours going carefully and rewatching everything you did multiple times along the way. I've also never removed a trim panel (or an infotainment unit) in my life, so that's probably why it took me forever. At the end of the day, nothing was damaged, no extra pieces were left over and the new screen works perfectly. Thanks again!

    Before anyone attempts this ..
One should use magnetic tip Phillips #1 & #2 screwdrivers
and have a small magnetic extension tool handy
Even magnetic sockets would be nice, but not necessary.
One could also upgrade to the newer module $800+ to
incorporate the ability to have apple & android apps with a
faster screen response time & better GPS
Maybe just bailout on CUE and go for the
10.3” Tesla screen that also controls your HVAC
☑️Thanks for showing us this nightmare that
    Cadillac should ‘own up’ to.

  • @hotlantalover
    @hotlantalover Před rokem +1

Omg! I just inherited a 2016 Cadillac XTS from my father. I noticed that the touch screen was having issues toward the center and the bottom. I did a hard reset and to no avail. I knew since 1981 that Cadillacs and domestic cars were mostly pure BS. I drove German and Japanese cars for years and never had issues to this extent. I'm at 42 minutes in and I'm still watching you continue to work on this touch screen. It would be cheaper to put something in there where you could use a tablet. It would be cheaper to find a way to connect the device or the system through the OBD-II poor so that you could operate the system from an external device. That's what General Motors needs to do hire somebody to come up with a device you plug into the obd-2 portal and you can control that s*** from your phone. That's why there's never been a recall on this BS

I've got one of these POS GM build Cadillac XTS 2013. There's a class action suit about these screen spidering what GM has managed to stall it so long most people have gotten rid of them and they stop building them in 2019. I bought an after-market screen for 40 bucks and for years couldn't get anyone to tackle this job no mechanics want to touch a Cadillac. I finally found some shop with young guys working out in the middle of nowhere and the dude had it in in a single day and I don't think you have to jump through that many hoops to get it out. There's another video online some black guy doing it and it only took a few screws removed and the entire Central dash comes out. Now I'm dealing with all the other thousands of crappy builds of these Cadillacs by GM and it's costing me thousands to keep it on the road. American car manufacturers should be held criminally liable and jailed indefinitely. Now in 2023 I can't afford to get into another car or it would be a Lexus for sure. I'm just going to drive this Cadillac until it falls to pieces... Oh wait it's been doing that for years!

Bro, does anyone knows how to fix CUE issue? My problem is a little different from others. A warning message block the screen "Taking ur eyes off the road too long or too often while using this system could cause a crash, resulting in injury or death to you or others. Focus attention on driving"
I have already changed a brand new screen but this message is still there. I cannot see any icon.

I replaced mine but when I plugged it back in, the screen still won't come on. It's totally black as well as the steering wheel. I can control the air but there's no lights on the entire Cue. Nothing about the screen works though. Do you have any idea why it wouldn't power back up after plugging the new Cue up?
    Thanks for any help.

    It
Would be more expensive but would it be less work to by a while unit. I watched a video and looks like it would be simpler just to replace the whole unit. More money but looked this not near as many pieces to take out. I have no clue. I am a gal.
