So Sorry for the bad quality, but this weather has been just awful! For everyone asking about Peaches' Bed, here is a link: amzn.to/2QM9MIE
I just saw a awesome planner that would work great for you and your Rabbit scegualing. It's the one that they use on @Living Traditions Homestead. You should go check it out or ask them for it
Thanks!
Amazon has a replacement cover for this Coolaroo bed, at $12.16 Prime free shipping.
It’s about time you helped Peaches out, it’s obvious she is absolutely exhausted from all the farm chores she has to do!
😂
I have to tell you that when I tell anyone about y'all I just cannot say Mrs. Cog Hill! It's mama cog, daddy cog, baby cog and the whole Cog family. Lol so glad y'all are feeling better.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
So glad to see you back! You always bring a smile to our faces! Our filming has held off because of the nasty weather, but look at you go! Master of the lens! We have been sticking with Peaches game plan!
:)
So glad everyone's feeling better! You folks have been missed. Love all the experiments. We have alpaca and I was in the process of using run off water to help fill their 100 gal. rubber made tank, it's difficult to haul 5 gal. buckets... Anyway, my father , a man of few words popped in and I explained what I was doing - he just looked at me and said 'NO,' and left. I was at a loss for words and just sat with my alpaca, chatting. About a hour later here comes my daddy with 250 feet of very thick 'farm hose,' I'm in Vermont. He gets to work hooking up the new hose, drags it to the tank, empties the water, rinses the tank then starts to fill it. I looked at him and said, 'thank for the hose?' He laughed then said 'you cannot use run off water for the animals. Roofs get dirty and whatever is on your roof will be washed off into your tank. Always be sure to feed and water your animals with clean good quality stuff...' My husband came home from work and agreed with my father... Long way of saying, 'Are you worried about water quality?' Love your channel :-)
Thanks!!
I enjoy these "just walking around with you vids!"
Yes one by one. another one bites the dusty. Loves keep on keeping on.
You could probably buy some used fire hose from your local fire house and reuse the frame from the old bed she ripped and then you wouldn't have to replace it for a good long time. This is my favorite channel you guys rock.
Thx Lynn!
I really enjoyed the tour in the rain and how you deviate just a little to make everyone happy. By week four on the meat birds we switch from crumble to pellets and there's no waste at all. Peaches has got the life of Riley! Peaches question ~ how often does she get a pedicure?
Peaches never gets her nails done, but it’s bc we live on such a steep hill and our driveway is loose rocks & gravel, so her nails are worn from all the walking she does up & down the driveway. I know I show her a lot sleeping, but she really walks around a lot & I’m very thankful she does! :)
@@CogHillFarm It's no wonder she's sleeping half the time, the other half she spends pacing, ha ha.
Looks like they are calling for more rain towards the end of the week. It’s hard to get motivated when that sun isn’t shining. Thanks for the video!
Ugh....shut your mouth 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Good thing you have peaches to supervise.
well the flu has now hit the goodlife home, the stomach flu... grateful for this video to brighten my day.. your editing always makes me laugh!!
Oh no!!!! Thinking of you guys!!!
Jason what I do with the chicken food powder is keep it all back in a sack then add water to it. They go after like crazy and there's no waste. Peaches has it made.
Thanks Jacky!
Your channel is in my top five favorites. I enjoy watching. Thanks for the uploads.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
good day to you Jason & family !! thanks for sharing another awesome update and adventures on & off the homestead !! 👨🌾🎥👍✝
I love these kind of vlogs rainy day & all.
Your chicken tractor is awesome.....I think people have to learn to be flexible with any system and not be afraid to adjust as needed. You saw the modifications you needed to make.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Fiona!! Always adapt & do what is best for yo, bc no 2 farms are alike :)
haha, Peaches old bed looks like she fell through just as she laid.. Perfect Peach imprint..lol
LOL
Peaches has the right idea......nice and toasty....sleep through the bad weather....lol
great video!
:)
I put all my animals on one line and have only 1/4 acre! I don't need but 50 steps and I got all the animals taken care of! Looking at your struggles, I made sure I simplified my winter daily chores!
Cute video, and Peaches is the Star. Thanks for making me smile today. Hugs❤️
YW :)
Peaches is my spirit animal!
😂😂😂😂😂
I suggest you make that into a shirt!!! Let me know when you do 🤗
Good video, I’m glad to see more god weather day than bad weather days, lol. Thanks for sharing
Hi... Thank you for sharing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
I am glad you made this video. Even though it is not your normal quality, it really lets us see what it is like there on the non-normal days. TY!
YW & TY!!
If anyone ever has a romanticized idea of becoming a farmer or homesteader, out enjoying your animals, throwing the occasional flake of hay and sprinkling some seed out for the chickens, then cozying up in your charming, clean farm house with a good book or your knitting in your time off, this video is a good reality check. Lol. Life of a real homesteader.
LOL, Amen
I feel ya! Every time the pens are bout dry so we can work on them the rain comes thru and we got chocolate soup pens again! The struggle is real lol.
Ugh lol
Behind watching my favorite channels, got to have a cold one and was so happy to see your better. Always a joy to watch your videos
Thank you Tammy!!
i hang my flowers on the front of my chicken coop similer to that so they can get rainwater.
im also a fellow alabamian! hope thats how you spell that. north east part. great show love it! keep up all the family fun, farming, and adventures!!!
Peaches, you are such a good helper, lol! It is so awesome that she stays on your property. We had to build a pen for our rogue potbelly, Tilly, because she likes the neighbors too much....well she liked their boar too much anyway ;)
:) I am so thankful she does not roam off
Rain always makes the chores that much harder. I think we're going to do our meat birds like you. We live in the woods with hills and I can't imagine a chicken tractor doing well on our homestead.
Amen!
Farm supply and some hardware stores (Ace) have fastener aisle where they also carry a selection of springs. Take one and see if you can find a match for 1 or 2 dollars. And yes , like in a previous comment, wet and mix that dust back in, or feed it to hogs wet.
Yep, we have tried matching it up but what tends to happen is that the waterers are kinda sensitive, so the spring will either be too stiff & no water comes out or the spring is not stiff enough & it just over flows...ugh! But I do feed the powder to the ducks & geese :)
Thanks buddy!- Jason
Hey... We just painted a wall with some chalkboard paint!! Go for it brotha!👍
I'm glad I've went back and watch old videos cause I can see how everything as progress to where you are on the Cog40. I can't believe I didn't find you over 5 years ago, but I wasn't really on social media back then, but Facebook (2014)..Trying to wean myself off that platform..lol..Geez, your channel should have millions of followers 😊
Peaches, what a legend! 😂
😂🤣
Nice video! Good to see you better and out busy on the farm, cause it never stops does it!?! 😀
Never LOL
Peaches needs a blanket! Enjoyed it
Ha....I’ll see if I can get one :)
@@CogHillFarm why yeah don't you think it would be "peachy" to have a big in a blanket 😉
And I bet she would like it!
Farmers have to be dedicated to run a farm in the pouring rain
You wearing that classic yellow rain poncho reminds me of the little boy from It hah
Good your feeling better. Thanks for making videos.
TY & YW!!! 😊
You could redo the old bed with old garden hose for Peaches 😋
LOLOLOL
@@CogHillFarm no seriously like this czcams.com/video/8iTn_zXFrRE/video.html 😉
😊
It seems likes it's been raining down here in San Antonio since way back in September or October. I can't remember now but one of those two months was the wettest recorded in history. I got so sick of it every single day and our little poodle doesn't like to get her feet wet or any other part. I don't really need to go out in it unless it's to the store or dragging Baby out into the yard, I'm just kidding, I carry her! I really enjoyed the video and when you mentioned using chalkboard paint that gave me an idea for a part of the kitchen. God bless and try to stay dry!
The Rain has just been the pits!!! Thanks Lind!!! 😊
I live in South Georgia, and this rain has been awful this year. I told my husband i feel like we are living in Washington state. Its been raining almost every day. And how does your goat pen still have grass? Ours has turned in to a mud pit! It terrible....
It really has been awful!
Hey Jason, I keep a 5 gal bucket for the powder from the chickens and rabbits. The goats get a treat and love it. Just a thought for you.
thx!! I actually feed it to the geese & ducks :)
So Peaches, did you sue the company when you fell through that bed? Got to love a rainy day... when it's someone else's turn to do the work.
😂😂😂
You have lots of heat lamps going...can you do a video on how that impacts your utility bill versus the end cost of the meat birds? Maybe the total cost in heat lamp utility to raise a specific number of birds......Thanks!
👍
Awesome work video! Such busy days on your farm. Thanks for sharing!!
Thx!
Have you tried moistening the chick feed? They may eat more of it, including the powder. When I started fermenting the chicken feed, they started eating and wasting less, and looked much healthier.
I usually feed it to the ducks & geese :)
long time no see hey there buddy . Got to say I'm so happy you guys are doing better . The flu hit our home really bad our youngest ended up going to er found out he had strep to. God bless
Oh No!!! I am so sorry
Try soaking your feed overnight but no longer keeps it from turning to powder and losing what you paid for
Yo JASON, GLAD TO SEE THAT YOUR
OVER YOUR COLD THERE "SICK'O" YOU. lol
HOPE THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY IZ
DOIN AZ WELL ALSO DUDE.....
( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Cog Hill/Jason.....
As much as I admire the work y'all are doing, I think Peaches may have the right idea!
She always has the right ideas
Meat ducks?! Is that a new addition? Goats don’t like to get their feet wet 😂 Glad you’re sounding your old self again!
They are new! They will be the first for us!
Great video/info! Hey Peach, you done wore that bed out lol!
😊
Maybe you don’t want to ferment chicken food all the time. But I’ll bet your birds would eat the powder if you add it to a ferment... especially if they’ve gotten used to having fermented feed once in a while from an early age. I add all sorts of powder (like from the bottom of the cows’ treat bag) to the hens’ mash. They never even know it.
Glad to see ur back and at it. Good ideas.
Thx guys!! :)
A lot of work to take care of all those animals in the morning. Even more when you are filming. Say hi to Peaches for me. Thanks. 🤠
Yes! Thanks guys!! :)
Hey Jason they're eat the powder if you don't put fresh food over the powder. If there ain't anything to eat but powder they will eat the powder.
I do the same thing with my goats. I cater to them and feed them where its dry for them.
Ahhh, farm livin is the life!
😊😊😊 yes!
The audio was great for a GoPro! Which one was it?!?!
I thought so as well! It’s Hero Session 4.
Great video/content, thank you sir.
I’ll sometimes make a gruel out of that leftover powder or mix it in a little yogurt. But I never have that many chicks at once!
Weather has been crap here too. My chicken yard is flooded. :-/ I don’t like it but I really, REALLY hate snow. Stay away, snow! 😡☃️🤣
YAS! Hopefully once we start getting goat milk, I can mix it & they will devour it :)
@@CogHillFarm Oh yes they will loooove that!
Great video glad your back in action and everyone is feeling better
Thx guys!!!
I cant believe that you used a clip from the Tim and Eric show lol! I know only a few select people who watch that show, well reruns now, but still funny lol.
I have begun using the chicken and quail "leavings" to help feed the meal worms. Nothing wasted
Great idea! I actually feed it to the geese & ducks
GOOD ONE welcome to our world! LOL
What about a ever flow watering system like Justin Rhodes has for his pigs and chickens?
Think he has a creek above grade he feeds from....but I’ll go back & look at that vid . Thx!
Aww bless peaches he’s doing what I’d like to be doing right now haha, great video , haven’t seen Mary in a while ?
She's doing great...she should be back in the vlog soon! :)
I use the same blue coffee can to feed chickens and collect eggs in
One of the best versatile tools on the farm
Those rainy days were rough! Did you guys feel the earthquake this morning?
No earthquake thank goodness!
Jason, I am considering getting 2 Nigerian dwarf goats. My concern is people taking about goats being “escape artists”. Have you experienced issues with them getting out when your at work and if so how do you address that issue? Thanks for your awesome videos! You give me confidence to continue trying new things on my property.
We have never had an issue with ours getting out...now that I think about it, I have never seen them even to attempt it. They really seem very content & happy 😊
Will Peaches eat the powder? Seems a shame to waste the feed, but you sure do a great job with your animals. Always good!!! TY
I actually feed it to the geese & ducks :)
I’m in Alabama too, Decatur, and IM JUST SICK OF THE RAIN🙄😝 I’m ready for some SUN!!!🤩
Ugh....it’s soooo bad
I heard that they use bentonite clay to bind the pellets when they make pellet feed. That powder mite be the dust from the clay. I do not feed my poultry or livestock pellet feed. I m not sure what they use but they need something to bind the feed to make pellets commercialy.
Thx Wes!
When you want to clean up your cover crop just put your meat ducks in there and they will clean it up
Great idea!
Bad weather here in Kentucky two brother! So glad to see you though! I really enjoy your videos Jason! Hang in there bub it has to clear up sometime!! I CAN !!!!
:)))))))
Hi Jason, I have recently inherited a sheep and a dwarf goat. They have access to hay and a just a little bit of grazing but how much grain should I give them daily now that the weather has turned. I have the feed that goat and sheep can eat. I also have 6 guineas. How much seed should I give them daily during this time of year? Thank you for your time. God’s Grace and peace be with you.
Hmmmm....I honestly do not know anything about sheep at all, so I really hate to say, but I cannot answer this one. Thx :)
Jason
It has been a wet week in Alabama for sure
Terrible!
Peaches bed 🛏 🐖😂
LOL
If you melt some fat (the stuff that solidifies at room temperature) and that powdery chicken food, so when solidified it makes bars like soap, they will eat it.
Man peaches has a better bed than me, come Mon.
👍 I'd handle it just like peaches did LOL
😊
Mix all of the powder with a little water and make a mash for them. They will eat it and you will have no waste.
Thx!
Good. Video! We have had soppy weather on our Homestead, too,
:)
The dust from the chick feed if you add water to it your pigs or love it in fact just a tiny bit of water and the chicks might eat it
LOL...Peaches ain't much for talkin' but lookin' at her "rough it up" during cold weather! Even with her being overweight bet you wouldn't want her on a diet, so....just buy her another bed! Love the way ya trick the flock out, CORN......AWESOME glimpses of the goats, your meat ducks, probably the only ones who don't mind the weather and those li'l meat chicks! Thanks Jason, surprised not to see any snow there but yeah the cold is everywhere, including over here on the central plateau! :)
I wonder if the new ducks introduced themselves like "hi there, I'm a Meat Duck.".
😂
Was that really Peaches snoring at the end of the video? I hear you on the powdered remains of chick feed; I've tried wetting it as others have suggested, but they don't touch that either, not even when it's fermented. They will, however, dive in to fermented whole grains. Go figure.
Lol, it wasn’t her really snoring :) thanks!!!
Try rabbit supply for springs
Will you be putting together any up coming videos on the (meat ducks)?
This is our very first attempt, so i wanna make sure I know what I'm doing, but I will def be making a video about them in the near future
Hey Jason, what kind of water do you all have, is it well water, or is it city water? . if it's well water how does it taste does it taste good or does it taste icky, if it's well water you don't have to pay for it right? I hope not because you're using a lot of water.
County water
soak feed and they can eat it all
Rain is a ton better than snow. I feel compassion....But still...so many accidents and two fatalities in my area overnight.
No doubt!!!! & that's awful!
Fun episode. A day in your life. ~Smile!
TY!!!
what if you soaked there chicken feed?
If you soak their feed, they'll eat the dust/chaff as well, makes your food go further.
Jason how old will the new goat buck be before he will start mating? Stay warm and dry, God bless.
I hoping he’s doing his thang now :)
Cog Hill Family Farm , lol really ? Well I hope so too so you will have lots of sweet babies and milk. Take care.
If you pour the chick feed dust into a bowl and add water they will prefer it over the normal feed.
My plan is to eventually do that but with goat milk...once we start getting milk :) Thanks!
@@CogHillFarm That sounds pretty rich-nice fatty, spoiled meat birds. Soaking the food works for ducks too. I quit meat ducks this year, but I'd use it with them so they'd throw less food and snort less into their water. It seemed to get stuck in their noses and throats less.
Thanks!!!
What heat lamps do you use for your meat chickens? Great video!
Just the really nice ones from TSC
What if you fermented that powder?
