The word “scientist” was first coined and used to a describe a 19th century woman. In this presentation, Dan Bisaccio will introduce you to HabitatNet, a citizen/ community science biodiversity project that he developed as a high school teacher and then discuss what “citizen / community science” is all about.
He will include resources for exploring and joining a community of scientists exploring and collecting data that makes meaning of our natural world (including astronomy, botany, wildlife studies, chemistry, physics, etc.).
How do you get started? How do you get funding for your project? How do teachers and students get involved as scientists? Dan will guide you to free and readily available resources that will assist you!
