For anyone who's curious about the ages of the characters, because it's never explicitly stated in the game, Omori, Kel, Aubrey, and Basil are approximately 12/13 years old and Mari and Hero are supposed to be 15/16.

Ironic that I'm rewatching this LP after finishing the CP series. Man, Nico has grown so much it's almost disorienting.

Here's something neat you didn't mention with the development of this game. This game had a successful kickstarter, with an asking total of $20,000. Pretty good for an RPG maker game, I'd say.

I wish people didn't have to compare it to Undertale. An RPG with character-driven narrative isn't Undertale by definition.
Plus it had blood, sweat, and tears put into it, taking 6+ years since the kickstarter! If you explore everything the game has, you will see why!
don't get us wrong we're not mad but comparing often leads to bad blood so yeah and the two games are unique in they're own way sooooo saying undertale 2 is rude and blah blah blah but that's just my opinion.
@@Ender41948 This is just what I've heard on the internet. I did not want 2 learn anything about Undertale when it got viral because of all the dumb "better than earthbound" stuff around it. This seems a lot more low-key though it's not a waterfall of people prasing it like Undertale.

This game tugs at your heartstrings really well, it really made me feel bad as someone with anxiety and depression issues.
Even after undergoing a lot of stress, I loved the outcome achieved by overcoming everything it threw at me. It's very rewarding in the end...
I agree with you. This game *really* messes you up, even if you think your prepared. Doki Doki literature club and gigyas are child's play after this.

There was actually stuff to read when you where looking at the photos nico, it was really cute stuff, also, make sure to interact with EVERYTHING and explore, the game is filled with a lot of missable content! But more than anything have fun!
Every time I've seen someone play this game, they've never seen the read button on the photos for some god dang reason.
Lots of people also don't check the cooler box at Mari's picnic. So much fluff dialogue missed :( Thankfully Nico checks everything haha.

Ok calming down now, but Nico, in the next part there is going to be a nameable character, and although it comes down to what you want of course, but I feel the story feels better when you keep the default name, as the character in question is their own character, so any silly names would probably hamper the dramatic moments
The game LETS you name the character. It's fine ti name the character what he wants. Naming it something silly might make the game feel weird but thats it. If he wants to name him something like Nico it should be fine.
@@TopOfAllWorlds i said Nico could do anything he wants, but at the same time the game has the characters default name fully typed out when the screen comes up, so it feels like the game pushes you to pick that name.
Its not like persona games where the MCs have canonical names but the name choosing screen comes up blank.
@@maskedsponge I agree with you. I think he should not rename him for the best experience. I don't say this to many games, but this particular one silly name would absolutely ruin the experience.
Again, I'm not saying this for every game (I love NicoBizzle in persona and three houses, and even in undertale silly names are more tolarable), just this one

It feels like the same deal as something in like, I dunno, FF7 where "Yeah, I mean, I COULD name Cloud "McBigDick" but he is obviously Cloud and that just would be dumb".
It's fine as long as the name isn't Bizzlead tier. If it's a normal name the story flows just fine. I don't think it necessarily has to be the default name. Something simple like Nico would be fine.

There was actually some text that went with the pictures in the photo album, there was 'Press X to Read' prompt below them all that you seemed to have missed, just so you know for the future because there will be plenty more oportunities to look at photos
I think you could have read the captions in the album photos, so keep that in mind in case you see any more photos in the future.
Mari and Hero are implied to be in their mid-teens, meanwhile Omori and the others are younger by only a few years.

Fun fact: Omori was originated from blog posts on tumblr back in 2011. Omori's first line in his blog is "im omori and i fap and play old games", which makes the tissue box for "wiping your sorrows away" a different meaning. You know what I mean. (P.S. My name is pronounced as Silent Night)
God, I followed OMOCAT bc their art is one of the reasons why I pursued an arts course (plus their merch is cool as hell). So seeing this game come to fruition and knowing that one of my fave artists had a hand in this is so surreal

Actually, Omori was converted to RPG Maker MV, which is a lot like the newer MZ. It was originally in VX Ace but the developers wanted to convert it to MV. Great to see you play RPG's again, and been ages since I came around here. I'm quite excited to see this LP go through.

My biggest concern with games like these is a bit of a fear that let's players tend to force thier sort of silliness in really important or serious parts of games. When it really matters, it just sort of takes you out of it, if that makes sense. I've been watching nico for years and I know he's not the kind to do that too often, but it does have me a little apprehensive.
I mean, that's the hazard with watching LPs, so don't watch LPs if it's a big issue, maybe? Not sure what you want anyone to do about this except not LP the games, and that's kinda silly to ask for, so... XDDD

If youre watching the playthrough of this for the first time and dont want to risk having silliness involved in the more serious parts of the game, then it would be best to either play the game yourself or watch a non commentary playthrough of it.

I have no fucking clue what this game is and I don’t care. I love ya Nico and am excited to watch a new playthrough. I planned on watching your 13 Sentinels playthrough but I was busy with school and the videos just kept coming out faster than I could watch them. Now that I have time to watch your videos again, I’m excited.
Edit: Nico for ages I’m thinking that based off the photos, Hero and Mari are both young teens (13-15) while the others are still kids (9-11).
Just a heads up, if Lisa and earthbound had a love child, this game would still be darker. The ending to this game still has me thinking...

I want to say I’m glad you are playing this since I will never have the heart to play it myself. To anyone else, please make sure you use discretion while watching this LP, pause if you need to, write down the time you paused at if you cannot cool off. While I cannot say why, watching an overview of the plot did unintentionally dig up some of my own traumatic memories. After watching the overview I remember having to write down all of the thoughts I traveled to. Overall this still is a great game and I am interested in how things develop.
Dang, just hearing the opening song makes me sad again. Looking forward to the rest of this LP, Nico! Truly a throwback to the good 'ol RPG Maker years!

This game gets pretty scary imo but not for too long and very few jump scares, and even when there is some they are pretty well foreshadowed.
