Ablett lifted when it mattered. Maxi Gawn dive was embarrassing. Hawkins keeps that up he will go down as one of the greats.

CARN THE CATTERS!!!!! What a remarkable game! Extraordinary scenes at GHMBA! 29 points down in the final quarter, Tuohy kicking a goal after the siren to win the game for Geelong! This has got to be game of the year along with the Showdown in round 8, which was also a nailbiter.

Smith Brothers Favourites for me are Collingwood and Tigers, not because they are a good team but because all their games will be at the g. It’ll take a good away team like Sydney or Port to knock them out, Geelong could make it if they get a game at Simonds, they have every right to as well, it’s unfair.
Nathan Lifska, if last season is anything to go by then the AFL is almost certain to never give Geelong a home final at The Cattery against almost any Victorian club (they didn't even give us one there against your Swans), even though by rights we ought to be getting one there. But at the end of the day it won't do us any good anyway, considering that under the current system with the Grand Final being contracted to the MCG for the next 40 years they are better off playing their lead-up finals there too, that way they are well prepared for playing there on the big day of the Grand Final if they are serious about wanting to win the flag.

WCE FAN45, it would have been so much sweeter to have done this to a team whose supporters have been rubbishing Geelong with their comments so much in the past. I don't think that I've ever received any rubbishing comments about Geelong from the Demons' fans. The Demons were definitely not the team that I wanted Geelong to be winning a game like this one against.

FOX, The good thing for Nathan Buckley being coach of Collingwood right now is that even though he never won a premiership as a player he has, in my opinion, every chance to win one as a coach. And you are right about ignoring these dimwits who make such stupid comments. Most of them just want to get a reaction out of you, turn a trivial matter into a raging debate, and even make the whole thing very personal.
SeblsFIFA, unfortunately the Hawks have beaten the Blues by 12 goals. But as I once said earlier in the season, even if this tips our Cats out of the top 8 for now, I'd rather this be the case than being tipped out by the end of Round 23. But in my opinion the Cats have a lot of improvement to make if they are even going to remain in the race to be playing in the finals. I'm not shying away from the fact that Melbourne played the better football for longer against us, and we were lucky enough to produce a burst of goals which saw us steal the match at the finish (that's exactly what it was, a steal). I am fearing that this will affect the mindset of the players in weeks to come, possibly as soon as next week, and this will see our team's up and down, inconsistent form continue.

So, a choke from Melbourne then..?
6 goals in front in the last quarter but the onus is on the coach? How did Geelong have a better game plan when they were trailing by so much? The game was literally taken over by a few individuals, nothing to do with change of a game plan, Melbourne choked.
1st quarter - 5 scoring shots.
2nd quarter - 8 scoring shots.
3rd quarter - 7 scoring shots.
4th quarter - 8 scoring shots.
That clearly shows they're still very much on the attack, they didn't really shut down defensively at all, if you re-watch the last quarter the main reason Geelong were taking over the game is due to contested possessions and clearances going to a rampaging Tomahawk.
Another major reason is Stanley completely nullified Gawn in the final qtr negating any influence from the best Ruck in the comp.
Geelong players sensed the moment and lifted, Melbourne's didn't, not the coaches fault, choke.

Gawn was off for 5 minutes late, he came back on and was still stopped, only missed the final sequence of play really due to blood rule.
I wouldn't have backed anyone else to kick that after the siren. Maybe Hawkins.
Someone pointed out last night that Irish players/international players don't learn the bad habits that Aussie players do from junior footy because they haven't been here playing footy their whole life and yeah I thought that was a pretty good point considering the biggest kick of that game came after the siren
This was a great win for the cats against a Melbourne side that was dominant for large periods of the match.
