      I like the thought of resubmitting them for grading. But if we're going to experiment we should take this a step further and see how easy it is to crack the casing as well. If I'm getting a card slabbed it's to protect my investment or collection.

      I have a PSA 10 graded full-art holo I recently bought and I noticed it had a very slight amount of the holo on the top edge pushed down, exposing the slightest bit of whitening. I compared it to another copy of the card I've been keeping in a sleeve and top-loader, and there's definitely a noticeable difference. Surely enough, I turned the PSA card upside down and I noticed it push up right on the spot that had the holo damage. I don't see the same issue with cards that don't have holo edges.

    this is a fantastic video, i shook a card once inside a PSA slab for 10 minutes and it caused no damage. i'm not surprised to see some damage after you put them inside that tool though, under real life circumstances they shouldn't ever get any damage unless you are unlucky. it's possible this effects lower PSA grades more though if they have edges that are already damaged and showing signs of whitening? i have seen discussions of BGS cards moving inside the plastic sleeve with enough force so i think you should for sure do this again for a BGS slab to see what happens to the card and if it moves inside the sleeve.

  • @brandygarrett1730
    @brandygarrett1730 Před 3 lety +1

This is the content I've been looking for ever since the hype on Pokemon returned and all I wanted to do was preserve my vintage collection. What I don’t get is why psa doesn’t leave cards penny sleeved inside the case (so if the card shakes at all, the sleeve will rub against the sides of the case, not the card.
    I began questioning psas cases after experiencing cards moving in the case with my most expensive card. I had about 30-40 other psa cards that didn’t move in the case. So, I found it odd this one did. I figured it was an old case, but I then got two new psa cards that also move.
    Yes, nobody will shake a case like done in this video, but bottom line, psa should sleeve cards inside the case. Beckett does it too. It won’t obstruct the view. It will just protect a card more.

    This all comes down to basic physics. Fore = Mass x Acceleration. You can’t increase the mass of the card to get more force hitting it so you must increase the speed at which the card travels. Additionally in regards to the indentation in the slab, pressure is mass divided by area so the pressure be pushed on by the wall is greater in the PSA because of that notch.

    We used an air hammer and a paint mixer on loose cards and they received no damage I would promise you they both shake much more violently than your lego machine, but that is impressive you even built the rig. But to conclude there is just not enough room in there to cause damage under normal wear. Our tests were only 5 minutes but very fast.

    I didnt see any damage on the 1st test but with the slab shaler i DID see a couple new dots of whitening but very unonticeable, if you regraded that you would get probably same grade

    I followed your channel for the Pokémon goodness and after watching your videos have realized you are just a human prodigy…you busted out legos and created something from scratch for this video, I’m just in awe of your genius

    Always finding new ways to keep the videos fresh. Think this is my new favorite video really enjoyed it! Also if a card is damaged won’t it still hold the value of the grade if your not regrading?

  • @nostalgic_pokemon_memories

    Awesome video! Try wotc cards next to see the difference. Maybe Wotc will damage faster because the cards are 20 years older?

    Awesome video, grateful for the amount of work you clearly put into it. Definitely feel safer about my graded cards now.
    Btw did you have those two cards graded specifically for this video?

    Hell nah, I have a shadowless Pikachu that my Nonna got me when I was 8 and I cracked it open years later because the BGS slab had dented the sides of the card from it being in moving boxes etc.
