Dan wasn't lying about this one being special. I will be rewatching. And one day I'll be sharing my recovery story from focal dystonia and regaining my ability to play guitar.
Phil has such a great way of articulating the tools needed. I suspect he kept more than one person going today. I needed this.

My main problem is back pain but mind body hit me in a lot of ways, one of those was cervical dystonia diagnosed by a neurologist. It went away when I said screw this, I don't give a f**k if my head shakes or turns on its own or if upper trapezius hurts like a mofo. Screw this, I spit on it and say " do whatever you want". Back pain which is my oldest symptom still remains but it's it's last moments.

    [SUCCESS STORY]
6 years ago, after crossing the sea with 54 other refugees and reaching safety, due to my sudden and excruciating joint pains (couldn't move), my body's been diagnosed with RA and prescribed Methotrexate to take for the rest of life like Phil. What did I do having to have the resilient mind/body that helped me survive crossing the sea bravely? Walked out from the doctor's room, didn't get the medication, and continued living. Yes, I did try diets and stuff out of fear, but I now realise that I no longer have RA symptoms because I got busy starting my new life with great ambition and elevated emotions, I never had RA symptoms since then. I've been remembering this fact the last couple of days with the assessments results to supoort my belief that my body isn't broken. Damn. Dan might not be the one with millions of views and fancy workshops around the world, but he's humbly, from the comfort of his home, helping all of us remember that we're actually okay. I'm writing this while the 30+ weird symptoms are dropping off (none are RA), me feeling calmer, and knowing that I'm actually okay. A part of recovering from our (old) fears is feeling uncomfortable and weird sensations. Get the accurate knowledge through the assessments, your personal experience, and Dan's videos. We're all actually okay, regardless of the sensations and anxiety. We're experiencing something, it's not US. We're just going through something. We got this. YOU got this.

Incurable means the cure is within..

    - going through life thinking: I’m not good enough..
    - not only healing chronic pain but healing LIFE, healing SELF..

Dr. John Nash, the genius mathematician the movie "A Beautiful Mind" was based on said he healed his schizophrenia by looking at people around him who weren't schizophrenic or mentally ill and behaving like them. This got him - and kept him - out of the psychiatric hospital he had been committed to.

@@WordsBloom you can of course call it that way, the fact is that he lived with his imaginary friends till he died, they never went away but he wasn’t reacting to it. So that’s what I mean when I sad he hasn’t heal from the “condition” it was still in his brain but managed to make the best out of his life. It’s often seen in TMS or anything else chronic, that recovery is focused on getting rid of symptoms for good and so far I haven’t met a fully recovered person who has no symptoms whatsoever after trauma. To me it’s about recovering the self no matter the diagnosis or symptoms. I am also absolutely inspired by Nash’s story and still, his helpers were there just in case he needed support, just like symptoms.

I think the point is chronic conditions can go away just as Dan talks about. Once we send enough safety signals and our body is convinced we are safe and happy, we’re out of the woods. We will never have chronic conditions again because we know how to live in a way where when a “symptom” like a headache etc… pops up, we know it won’t stay forever. My favorite quote from Nicole Sach’s on this is when she says there is no cure for pain, but there is a cure for chronic pain. We’ll feel pain at different times in our lives and often it’s a message that maybe we need to slow down, empty our stress bucket and go enjoy life, take a walk, mediate, play with our kids, whatever brings you joy. It is a practice for the rest of our lives.

Dear Phil and Dan, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this amazing interview. I have tears in my eyes with relief from knowing at last what the real root cause of autoimmunity is and how to go about healing it. Your video is an answer to my prayers. I have suffered over many years from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and an autoimmune illness called Sjogrens Syndrome that has caused me to have severe dry eyes and mouth and body pains on an ongoing basis. I have been on the highly restrictive diets too which are extremely hard to stick to and can make you feel afraid to eat anything and can make you feel very sad too! I listened to this video twice to take it all in and I will now start doing exactly what Phil did to recover, including daily meditation and visualization and listening to Dan for ongoing support and encouragement. Then, when I’m recovered at last, please God, I’ll share my success story with Dan too! Thank you again. With love to you both and my best wishes to all of your listeners, Laura K (in Ireland) ❤

I can relate to so many aspects of this story. Im 65 and i was the child always being punished by my Dad. Oldest boy with 2 older sisters and a younger brother who never got the beatings I got from my Dad. I lived in terror of my Dad who was 6'4 a big intimidating New York city guy. The belt whippings were the worst as was the angry disgusted look on his face. Feeling abandoned and unloved were some of my earliest feelings and experiences. Still hurts all these decades later

Great interview! Gives me a ton of hope. I’ll say that the “crash” or the post-exertional malaise (PEM) in long COVID and CFS is a very real, documented phenomenon. However, I 100% agree that it’s all how you respond to it. It’s nothing catastrophic, so dial down the fear. Treat it with indifference. A little extra rest, but then you get right back up and keep living life. Also, language really matters. I’ve stopped calling them crashes. I call them dips or minor setbacks. But the overall arc is still one of recovery.

The other day I mentioned something about a horse trainer, and a frightened horse that eventually made it back to a full horse life. This videa has made me think of something dog-related! (Sorry, but it is relevant I think) Some dogs are terrified of bangs, fireworks, thunderstorms, and become frantic. Some don't mind at all. But put a relaxed dog alongside the terrified dog for any length of time when the bangs happen, and it will 'catch' it, and become the same. I never thought about falling, and I worked for a lady who was utterly fixated and terrified of falling, so she couldn't get around indoors without aids. I caught it!! And, surprise surprise, I did fall. I'm now in the process of trying to untrain my brain and get my life back. Of course it's more complicated, and there were a lot of stressful other things, and like Phil I got covid and it mangled my autonomic nervous system. But good food and good hydration is important for building a healthy body. But un-catching fear is another thing altogether. xx

I've been doing mind/body work for over a year - and the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Myelitis I was diagnosed with half a century ago is almost completely gone! I have SO much energy most of the time now it amazes me. When I feel the fatigue again, I sit in somatic tracking for emotion and often find the emotion hidden BEHIND the sensation of exhaustion. Then I go for a walk and often feel fantastic afterwards! That one for me left first, but the pain is lessening too. What we were told in the past is bogus as hell! The fact so many are healing proves it - mind/body work and facing old trauma and healing it and releasing trapped and repressed emotions is the real deal! I'm just thrilled. It's been slow and back and forth, but the results so far are amazing.

My husband gets the flu every year. In flu season and with high fever. I mean it sound as if it's the real thing, right? But I call it a habit because it makes no sense whatsoever. He is really ill for... 2-3 days. And then it is gone. And of course he doesn't believe me but I'm convinced that it is his nervous system giving him a couple of days off.

Thank you so much for this video, Dan! It’s the first success story I am watching, after you mentioned it in another video, and I am so thankful I did. I truly appreciate the fact that you interview someone who was coached by another coach. Also, that you are not dismissing other approaches (meditations, visualisations etc). You truly are a great human being!
Dear Phil, I am impressed by the way you let this suffering transform you. No wonder God or the Universe or Life wanted to take out this amazing version of yourself, through this hardship. Thank you for coming out and telling your story, it is extremely empowering. You would make a great TMS coach!
I am so thankful I found out about TMS a few months ago and I am proud of my ongoing journey, hard as it is.
Blessings to anyone on this tough, yet life-changing trip. May we all tell our success stories soon!

What a great success story! So many gems in hear, and so good to hear from someone who has overcome an autoimmune condition!
I loved the analogy that the body is a suit of clothes. I've had a very similar image--but it's that my symptoms are a suit of clothes, a projected blanket of sensations over a healthy body. Not only are they not "real" in any other sense, but they aren't even relevant to my mind, or my experience of living--once I can recognize that they're just a suit of clothes, they mostly stop distressing me and I can just live my life not worrying too much about this suit of clothes. It's why somatic tracking has been the most helpful tool for me, I start my day in bed every morning with a somatic tracking that gets me to this authentic symptoms-are-just-brain-projected-suit-of-clothes feeling.

I have always felt not good enough. At age 45, I went through several severe stressful events. I realize now, that it was all self induced. I ended up with type 1 diabetes. I would love to know, if changing my beliefs could cure my type 1. That would be remarkable. I've been struggling with anxiety in the last two years because of some bad dental work. Now, every morning I experience anxiety. I feel like, I'm always checking my body and ruminating on my situation. It's remarkable how powerful the mind is.
