Mine was 95 ish when he died. He be longed to my gran for 55 years and when she past he came to me. He was with me for 40 years. He was a handsome brute. I miss him
Not really, 25 years old right now, living up to 100 years. Many are younger here and will outlive that turtle, but it’s really impressive that they get this old.
Just think about how efficient their whole life is, with them conserving every bit of energy, sleeping 16 hours a day, and moving at speeds that make the best value for energy.
But then also consider how amazing it is that we humans can live to about the same ages while we are being A LOT more active in our lifes

Fun fact: turtles and tortoises actually have nerve endings in their shells, so they can feel when you touch or scratch their shells. I've actually seen several videos of turtles enjoying getting their shells scratched because they can't reach it themselves (I don't know if every turtle would enjoy that, just that I've seen videos of it).
