      They protested at the beginning of the war. Then a law was introduced that punished anti-war protesters with three years in a labor camp. Besides, only a handful of residents of large cities protested. Residents of small towns and villages are indifferent. This can be seen in the reactions of residents of the areas near Kursk.

      Putin already got his buffer zone in Crimea.. Kursk is not a buffer because it's held by Ukraine and Russian civilians are held there along with Russian soldiers as prisoners of war..

      Russia has already moved 75% of the traffic of military equipment to Crimea to ferries because they realize how vulnerable the bridge is. Also, the as frontlines move towards the Donbas, Crimea as a supply line is less important.

      In absolute terms, this is a very small piece of land.
      In relative terms, its a very small piece of land.
      So, no noticeable impact on food production (until the territory gained increases orders of magnitude).

    I find that the TR moderators ask silly, inane questions… fortunately, the guests give smart, well thought out answers… This channel is fixated on the thought of bringing Russia to a negotiation table. Russia needs to pull out of Ukraine completely and pay reparations to the Ukrainian people for all the damage, pain and suffering they’ve caused.

    Have to disagree with Gen Chapman here.
    1. The argument of "we will return the Russian land, if Russia return our land" is a very powerful argument. This argument has many potential uses. Including to ensure support by the Western allies until Ukrainians are satisfied in their negotiation with the Russians.
    2. The Ukrainians will need to man their border with Russia, no matter what happens. It does not matter whether it is the prior international border or the new border created in the Kursk oblast using natural barriers such as rivers. If they can defend the old borders, then they should be able to defend the new border. (With provision that they have sufficient time to build defences but they can take advantages of the trenches already built by the Russians.)

      He can ignore that and wait it out sure, but the big threat is not amount of land controlled by Ukraine but their ability to disrupt railroad to the south and now being able to send in rockets / drones, Artillery way deeper into Russia disrupting their ability to reorganize a lot more.

    No offense meant to the good general, but I think he misjudges Putlers predicament. The ruSSian Führer built his persona on a strongman basis, and the AFU staying on Muscovite swamp soil is a nasty thorn in the image he'd like to-has to-portray. It doesn't even matter whether it's 10 km² or 10,000-the mere fact of their presence is a predicament that Putler _needs_ to solve, lest he end up on the business side of a high-rise window himself.

      The Chinese will reclaim Outer Manchuria and possibly other areas as well. China will wait for a while yet as they will probably be able to reclaim their lost territory without a fight. Russia is becoming less able to defend itself, and it is becoming more and more dependent on China every month that passes. :)

    hm, i am just a educated sofa-general. but counldn't ukraine use the two rivers (seym, psel) and take up new defense line? favourable terrain and a threat to kursk. Move up your boader-troops to defend a new line, russians are not in a hurry stopping the dig-in-process. sumy would be protected from some threats. after consolidating in some areas move the main force in direction of belgorods rear - russians can't ignore that.
