I’m going to a flute festival in London UK this summer hosted by the British Flute Society. It’ll be my first one ever since I started learning the flute. I’m very excited about it. Thanks for your tips.

My teacher is off for the summer so I got a subscription to Smart Music. I just tried it and it seems that I can't count. My timing is all over the place! I guess I know my summer goal.

sara gold wow! Well it depends on budget Sara. But that sounds like the next flute might be the flute for life perhaps. Check out Powell son are, Yamaha, Trevor James but there are many. What is your budget?

The Flute Channel I want to try to get an affordable one but since it's the flute I'll play in College I'm willing to spend some money at most 2,000

I may be biased but I play on a beautiful Pearl and I know some amazing instruments of theirs that cost less than $2,000 that are of quality. I know that Trevor James and Di Zhao instruments are also very nice

Honestly be sure to check out FCNY at flutes4sale.com and use our code TFC to try out upto 3-4 flutes. They ship out the flutes and you can try them for 10 days. Try one of each brand perhaps. Trevor James Cantabile, Yamaha 300-400 series, Sonare 505, DiZhao Model 500 could be a good selection. Make sure to ask for inline or offset g which ever you feel most comfortable with. These are flutes that can last a lifetime.

Okay so I am going to a flute workshop and I am scared that I will be worse than everyone, and I can't stay motivated, and it's weird because I always feel motivated. I also have auditions in November and I can't stay motivated to practice! Please help!

Right! So we've all felt that way and a lot of people at the festival will feel the same way. So try to focus on what is going on at the workshop and introduce yourself to people and get a notebook to write down all that your learning in the classes, lessons etc. Also if you can find out what others are playing bring the music if you have it. Plus bring things you love to play and one thing you don't know very well so that you can have potential lessons with them. Workshops or festivals are great because its all about your instrument and music so there will be so much to learn. Be open and have fun, that should ease the tension and make for a better workshop experience. Let me know how it went!
